Polls open at 7 tomorrow yeah? Going to go vote first thing, probably with a lager in hand. At least this time I won't have some fat gently caress in a Tory rosette asking if it's a "good day" like last time. Christ I could have punched that fucker

Did anyone post Nate Silver's piece on the UK polls, which was published when we all had a lot more on our minds. A tl;dr version if I'm interpreting it correctly: Take the average poll lead of the Tories over Labour, and assume a 10 point margin of error either way. So about that hope, eh?

Average of an 8 point lead for the Tories ignoring the Ipso Mori one, and give a 10 point margin of error either way we have an 18 point lead for the Tories or a 2 point lead for Labour as the margins of error. Hope...

axeil posted:So is it definite that the Tories won't get to a majority? Didn't the last election also have them short but they then made it up and got their majority. Not definite as none of the 650 seats have declared yet. But, May called the election to increase her slim majority so she could effectively cancel out any rebels over Brexit. Unless she outperforms the exit poll, which has been relatively close since 1992, she will have failed in this

return0 posted:This feels real good compared to 2015 fun fact: on the morning of the election in 2015, we received a phone call from Queen Alexandra hospital in Portsmouth that my dad who was at the time in intensive care was basically about to die and we had to get to the hospital, like then. So I got in my car, drove home, grabbed my polling card and went to vote. As I left the polling station, some fat gently caress with a Tory rosette asked if it was a "good day". Two hours later, we switched my dad's ventilator off and then I went down the pub and got loving shitfaced. Labour being up 2-0 and an exit poll telling May to go gently caress herself and a parent not dying makes this the best election... unless I wake up in the morning to the Tories having 400 seats in which case this is the absolute worst
