What are the policies on which there is a serious divide between Conservatives and DUP?

Again, as an American, what's the deal with Sein Finn not taking their seats? Why do they do that?

I assume it's because they reject the premise.

lol that may talked about working with the DUP without confirming it with them, pissing off her own MP's at the same time and loving up the good friday agreement for extra measure

I don't know much about UK or especially Irish politics but I have done some reading on Ian Paisley. He controlled DUP for most of its existence, and was an antisemitic weirdo that adamantly opposed NI power-sharing agreements for almost his entire life.

I mean, as posted upthread, people were bombing schoolchildren over this poo poo.

Unfortunately for prospects of their coalition, the Tories have taken very much the opposite tack; a Full English Brexit, a Red White and Blue Brexit, a Hard Brexit, "No deal is better than a bad deal", and so on. Characterize it as you please, the end result is the same, the Tories don't give a flying gently caress about NI or the consequences of Brexit, and have traded on promises of sticking it to the EU and being willing to crash out of the negotiations if they can't get the deal they want. Unfortunately, contrary to what they claim, the EU does not need us more than we need them, and given how done Brussels is with our stupid bullshit, they're not going to be very open to us pissing around.

Why then would the DUP even agree to be part of a coalition with the Tories? Just let Corbyn handle Brexit and get a better deal by default.

I take it from what I am hearing on the issue from all parties that even left-wing groups have given up on "No Brexit At All, Thanks." What is the political calculus behind that?

You say powerless, but what kind of result could we have seen if they weren't so vehemently anti-Corbyn? True enough that they lack the sway to win it, but there was still significant damage done.

I don't understand why anyone under the age of 60 in the UK or anywhere else is reading tabloid mags, but then again it looks like they aren't, so...
