Fast RMX is indeed fast. If you want F-Zero style racing, minus killing the other racers, and you want nothing besides the racing, it's a fantastic pick.

I find I'm not terribly good at it anymore (if I ever was) and am generally too tired to keep my eyes open wide enough to handle the intensity of the racing speeds, but a lot of that would be mitigated by learning the courses.

It's quite well executed, but there's literally nothing else there besides race cars, and as it turns out I really enjoyed the silly story / car customization aspects of F-Zero GX.

I understand that other trans people like and relate to Bowsette, and I am not trying to discount their experiences and feelings. But generally when something like this creates polarized feelings within a marginalized group, the answer is to exercise a modicum of discretion and empathy and boundary-recognition, and instead of doing any of that some people have just been real dicks all like "HOW COULD YOU NOT ENJOY THIS".

As the person who mentioned virtue signaling the thing I was talking about was basically the exact opposite. When I see posts talking down anyone with a passing interest or like of it and scrambling to get a useless moral high ground even if it means putting down people who just like the fad because they like drawing princesses or designing characters or whatever I think that's kind of stupid and mean spirited.

When it first came to the forum there was a lot of that. Someone would mention it and "ew that's gross I'm so grossed out why would any artist do this let me talk about ethics" and it's just like man, get off your high horse and don't be a dick. It's just a goofy fad spurned on by a power up that little thought went into.

I didn't try to imply a "How dare you not like it" or anything like that either, sorry if you read it that way. I honestly couldn't care less if you were the biggest fan or whatever. Again it's just a fad. Genuinely sorry that it rubs you the wrong way but ride it out, it'll be dead soon regardless.

I wish Fast RMX was rebalanced a bit to give your vehicles more health and not blow up so easily. I'd prefer having a fairly sturdy car that if you blow up you just lose. Instead it feels like you get a piece of cardboard and are placed at a punishing checkpoint when you explode

Yup, and it's gonna own.

Almost every time I hear someone say the term 'virtue signaling', it's because they can't conceive of the kind of person who might take a stand on, or at least an interest in the wellbeing of someone else even if doesn't involve him/her directly. People who complain about virtue signaling view every act of kindness or compassion as an attempt to grandstand and show off about what a good, christlike person they are.

Not saying that's anyone here, to be clear.

As a dude in my late 30s who has played video games his entire life but never got into "gaming culture" this whole Bowsette thing has me completely perlexed.

Why are people losing their poo poo over it? Are they actually jerking off to it or is it some stupid meta joke? Also, how wasn't it already a thing? From what I've seen there's weird fan made porn of everything. How could a female Bowser not already exist?

SERIOUS ANSWERS FOR A SERIOUS QUESTION

A bit late, but IMO:

Bowsette exploded because there was some pent up feelings/demand that Bowsette allowed expression of.

Bowsette is non-canonical and therefore free for people to interpret the way they want.

Because it's free for people to interpret, that's an invitation for people to do their take on an idea

Because of that, you see a lot different kinds of Bowsette, each emphasizing whatever is foremost in the artist's mind and de-emphasizing whatever the artist didn't care about

People have a lot different reasons for drawing Bowsette:
Many because they like big boobs
Many because they like small boobs
Many because they like cute girls acting fierce
Many because they enjoy the idea of more women being represented
Many because they enjoy the idea of a trans character getting represented
Many because they enjoy the idea of a trans character grossing out people
Many because they think Peach is boring and this is an opportunity to see a Peach who cuts loose
Many because they think Peach is boring and want her to be sidelined by someone who isn't Peach
Many because they think Peach is terrible and needs to be rejected by Mario and Bowser
Many because they think dark skin needs more representation
Many because they think buff girls need more representation
Many because they think heavier girls need more representation

Whether or not you like Bowsette, I think the whole thing has a lot to chew on and think about the thought processes that made her spread like a wildfire

Mario Kart 8 is by far the better value (it even has some F-Zero tracks), but Fast RMX is not bad. RMX never took-off so the online is probably dead. But it's fast and challenging, maybe to a fault

It is the Dark Souls of racing games

But if you wait, maybe there's something better coming down the pipeline

Like, I have several black friends on Facebook and they seem to be the loudest asking for more pictures of dark skinned Bowsette.

It must be frustrating to be black and not see a whole lot of dark skinned characters represented in videogames, let alone entertainment in general.

Then I look back on Nintendo's 35 year history and I'm racking my brain trying to think of any dark skinned characters in their roster. Marina?

Bowsette gives them a way to express that frustration.

I feel for them.

I got so mad at Mario Tennis that I got insanely good at it, beat the Adventure mode + DLC and destroyed my enemy, Waluigi, in tournament mode. We are now friends and I even play as him sometimes. 10/10

Now I have a void I must fill, and I hope that void will be Dark Souls making me mad in the exact same way. Never played it, husband is a big fan, this is gonna be fun.

It may be cynical, but I don't think a full accounting can be given without mentioning that there is also a significant element of "hustle" in the Bowsette fad. As in, once an art fad is established, the pressure to draw it mounts and becomes inescapable, as it becomes a way for artists to get noticed and stay afloat in the attention economy-- ie, that cat lingerie, the keyhole sweater, the backless "virgin killer" sweater. You might also notice a certain common factor between the various concepts that explode into art fads.

Is this your first Souls game? If so your personality sounds perfect for it.

The hardest part will be making the combat click for you, as it will feel sluggish at first, but once you figure it out you'll be doing circles around enemies. Also learn to not target enemies.
