Raymond will probably last longer than BBT, even though they're both very "tropey" sitcoms. Raymond had more genuine talent behind it I think. Frasier is definitely aging the best out of the lot, though.

That's because Fraiser is essentially a mid Edwardian Farce with a fresh lick of paint.

The mid to late 90's were okay, but there was a lot of dross in there. I think the early 2000's were generally considered a bit desultory, but who knows exactly how these things get defined.

I feel weird that I might well be the only one who thinks that the stopping point for the Simpsons is after the single-digit seasons. The Mike Scully era (9-12) still has plenty of decent episodes that are worth seeing if you want more Simpsons, including some really noteworthy ones like the one where Maude dies or when Barney gives up drinking (as well as some EXTREMELY dated ones like the Behind the Music parody), but it's also got a lot of the signs of how the show would crash afterwards. Stop wherever you want to during the Scully era, but the Simpsons died a slow death, so it's at least worth seeing the start of the downturn.

I mean fair. Personally I'd stop around series 10.

It's gone past the point of parody now, and I really want them to just stop making the Simpsons.

Yeah looking back, roughly 2000-2005 was a really dark time culturally where it really seemed like the right was ascendant and a lot of pop culture was catering to that, to an extent that would seem almost unthinkable today. The nationalism/jingoism coming from 9/11 was certainly part of it, but not the entire story.

I mean a lot of it was just swallowed up and became part of culture in general. How many Calls of Duty are we on now, for instance?
