Sure sounds a lot like Vince is trying to make PPVs a thing again considering they're now being mentioned before the network. I thought it was that they were pushing hard for maximizing profit over preventing the rise of competition with all these talent contracts and NXT expansion and the like.

AEW's Sammy Guevara was pulled from this past week’s Impact Wrestling tapings due to creative differences.

Dave Meltzer confirmed that Guevara was scheduled to be part of last week's Impact tapings, but was pulled after he questioned the creative. Despite him travelling to Nashville, TN, for the tapings, Impact decided to not use him. At this point, there is no significant heat from anyone on either side.

Slam Wrestling was the first to report the news. PWInsider reported that the majority of what had been planned for Guevara was given to Black Taurus to utilize. Taurus first appeared on Impact last week, joining the Decay stable with Rosemary and Crazzy Steve.

So yeah, he was there, he expressed not liking the creative, so they decided not to use him, but there's no heat.

I just want to say that the take of 'people these days don't have enough attention span for a two hour wrestling show' is so dumb in a world where people regularly prefer binge watching an entire season of TV in one evening. Lance is right that shows would be better off if they built to big main events, though.

Bad promos, scary botches, crazy Ric Flair, Outsiders drinking sizzurp, worked shoots, screaming Norman Smiley, Goldberg spearing fools, and more! Bryan Alvarez, Vince Verhei, and Craig Proper Jr. review the first Vince Russo written episode of WCW Nitro with accompanying illustrative video clips.

Bryan and Vinny vs. Nitro and Russo Episode 2 - WCW Review with Video - Oct 25th 1999

Phew, this was a Russoriffic, packed episode of Nitro. Crash TV is kicking in properly the second week of Russo's run. This one was a bit tougher an edit than the last one. So much happens in rapid succession, and repeated elements make the episode feel more samey. Bryan and Vinny start to break down before the end and I don't blame them.

FEATURING: The Powers To Be, a worked shoot, Yaks, Randy Savage madness, kidnapping, refusing to do the J.O.B., a tag match featuring a porn star, Ric Flair getting buried in the desert, Bryan making a boisterous penis size declaration, Boobapedia, career ending cardboard boxes, huge cameras, Goldberg killing fools, Charlie Steiner, Rey Mysterio humping like a dog, a ref botch, Madusa kicking really hard, a title change, and 3 HOURS OF... well, you'll find out.

Let's err on the safe side and declare this Semi-NSFW. Don't watch Russo era WCW at work, people.

Bryan and Vinny vs. Nitro and Russo - WCW Review with Video - Nov 1st, 1999

Was harder to have motivation for this one. Lance Storm is on this episode, for all two or three times he talks, I think he might've changed the vibe in the room, at least at first, and it took longer for the guys to get more into their shenanigans. There also wasn't so much opportunity for visual gags and creative editing stuff in this one. More of a straightforward review. Still, plenty of goofy stuff in this episode.

There's a moment in this where Bret says "SCREW YOU SCOTT" and it's just so Canadian, I couldn't explain why but his accent, what he's saying, it's perfect :canada:

Includes: A really bad Vince impression, a woman kidnapped and put in a shark cage, a Something On a Pole match, a seriously weird production botch, Lex Luger hamming it up, Sid falling for a terrible disguise, superfluous chains, a random turn, Vince Russo mocking a heartfelt plea, seduction and making out in the ring, Bret Hart being very Canadian, a truly awful tournament, Norman Smiley in a catcher's outfit, Goldberg on the set of Ready 2 Rumble, the Nitro Girls feuding with each other... you know, I just realized, when Kimberly said she had more important things to do than be in the Nitro Girls, she meant she was gonna hit David Flair with a car I guess. Bigger and better things!

The video on Dailymotion: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x81n45u
I will put it up on Youtube later but it'll be slideshowy so I won't bother posting it here.

I don't know that AEW is like an artsy indie movie, I think it's more like an indie action movie, significantly smarter than what Hollywood is offering, but not too self-serious, and definitely better at knowing what the audience wants and delivering it with intensity.

I don't understand business stuff either but this is my interpretation of the stuff I've heard and I think I'm being accurate.

The most likely buyer would be NBC Universal, since they own USA Network and Peacock, they're already giving WWE a lot of money, so it makes sense. Vince wouldn't own it any more but he'd probably still have a lot of stock and could be kept on to run the thing. They could concievably get rid of him if they wanted to, but they probably wouldn't, it doesn't really make sense to value the WWE enough to buy it and then get rid of the guy who built it and is in charge of everything.

Concievably, Disney could buy it, or ViacomCBS, as well. WWE's dream scenario would be to have two or more of these media conglomerates outbidding each other.

Glad to be back in the saddle with BaVvNaR, after some personal issues kept me from being able to for a while, and this is a hell of an episode to come back to, as the boys tackle a truly awful episode of Nitro, perhaps the worst wrestling show ever seen? You be the judge. (But no, Heroes of Wrestling is worse.) This one took a while to edit for the same reason it took B&V a long time to cover: so many segments. Just so many. I also had to get this edit under an hour due to Dailymotion's video duration limit, which I didn't know about until I ran up against it!

FEATURING: An awesome Vinny rant, stalking and menacing, fake news, terrible finishes, Goldberg playing dressup and playing hide and go seek, still the worst tournament ever, still dog-like humping, Liz being manhandled, a very expensive toilet scrubber, a fake fight that's worse than Jenna vs. Sharmell, Seven, a fake injury, a very chill rebellious punk youth, just so many Creative Control run-ins, Torrie Wilson, Bam Bam Bigelow being lost outside time and space, broken car windows, and the dumbest finish to a ladder match ever.

People like Bryan have to understand that the PTSD wrestling fans have from so many years of WWE refusing to pull the trigger on guys has taught them that if the trigger isn't pulled pretty quickly, that it will never be pulled and they may as well stop being emotionally invested. If Page doesn't win the title there's no saying whether the fans will still be as hot, let alone hotter, for it whenever they do it in the future. Bryan and Vinny vs. Nitro and Russo - WCW Review with Video - Nov 15th 1999

Told you this one would come about faster. Actually this is a little slower than I would've preferred, but the second dose of vaxx got me. WCW couldn't help but improve on last week's possible worst ever episode, but there's still plenty of bad here to gawk at, including more bad finishes, more bad comedy and wacky shenanigans, and more SEGMENTS, plus one digression that once more has me flagging this vid as semi-NSFW! I hid all the explicit visuals but maybe don't listen to this in front of your co-workers or family, OK? Not as many chances for silly editing, or for keeping good promos in, but hey, that means these take less time, right? Next vid, we're taking a break from Russo Nitros to have a look at a Russo Impact, one of the B&V episodes I've relistened to the most for some reason.

I haven't re-watched this one super closely after my edit so if there's some flaws lemme know.

FEATURING: Full plate armour, laced brownies, Midnight Dong, being booked to be dumb, another bad Nitro Girls fake fight, Groupon, math, another terrible finish, Oklahoma getting destroyed, and lots more!

Bryan and Vinny vs. TNA and Russo - Impact Review with Video - Oct 14th 2010

VIDEO: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8379lk

A digression from the usual chronological format to have a look at an episode of Impact and a B&V review that stick in my mind for some reason. The Jeff Hardy heel turn era is memorable to me. The stable, Immortal, is a hodge podge of people who don't go together, Jeff's promos are delivered with this weird accent and this ridiculous melodrama, Rob Van Dam has the super dumb and funny version of his music, and of course Hogan and Bischoff are back to their old tricks, and they're nowhere near as novel as they were over a decade previous. Hogan is the top heel leader of this dominant rear end in a top hat faction while recovering from back surgery and actually needing crutches. This show contains constant talking segments and almost no wrestling, plus a terrible, pointless celebrity cameo to promote an act that was only two weeks old. This really is peak Russo, like maybe WCW was able to tame him a bit compared to this.

FEATURING: J-WOWW, talking, The version of Abyss that loves Hulk Hogan but now he's a heel, another dildo, Samoa Joe at the beach, talking, bad legal advice, god dang it, Gunner and Murphy, talking, The Anti-Christ of Professional Wrestling, swerves, a Four Horsemen knockoff team, talking, TNA Reaction, a bad catfight, another fingerpoke style title change, talking, and more talking.
