I really enjoyed it! After seen tons of things inspired by Devilman like Shin Megami Tensei and Evangelion, this was very cool to see. This type of story is very In My Interest so yeah i liked it. I totally see what problems people have with the content and pacing too, a subjective show i would sayninjewtsu posted:the way taro's dad keeps going back and forth or whether or not he should kill his son was so painful to watch LORD OF BOOTY posted:the whole sequence with Devilman and the mob of people being stoned to death is one of the most genuinely loving beautiful and moving things i have ever seen in an anime

ryo's english owns and i honestly respect the voice actor for doing so many scenes with it. like even learning japanese, telling me to go speak it in a booth sounds like a total nightmare, so i love it tbh

im def gonna try and check out the older OVA and probably the manga too, a more modern times adaption was really what I needed, I honestly just cant stop thinking about Devilman even tho I finished it days ago. Flawed media rules. also i've seen small amounts of lupin here and there but this is the thing i saw that made me say Okay, I Should Watch Lupin and it's so dumb that this is what it did it  (from The Blood Spray of Goemon Ishikawa movie)

I knew that a boy turned into a devil and that Last Arc Spoilers Ryo was Satan which is so obvious in context because he's a blond haired blue eyed pretty boy tempting Akira into so much poo poo and also at some point, I forget when, the Netflix credits start putting サタン(Satan) after his voice actor credit and yeah I've had the Woman Called Fujiko Mine reccomended so constantly, I'll add it to my list in the 2018 Movie Challenge for sure

I do wanna say I really do love End Of Devilman Spoilers Ryo's Satan form. Like it's obviously doing the Miltonian Paradise Lost Lucifer thing of being a moody bishonen, but the genderfludity of it, with longer hair to developed breasts and visible penis and testicles, I rarely see that brought up in Angel designs, much less the Devil themself, I love it.

I mean, yes, you could read it that way, sure. Or you could read it that being gay is what taught Satan that love was real, that the characters who engage in homosexual relations are the most human and likable and are punished by a mindless mob and uncaring God for doing so, that the cycle will continue regardless and that gay love is as strong or stronger than whatever an absent God wants to happen, no matter now many times They purge the earth, Ryo and Akira will be there doing gay twirly hugs on the dock. I would say one of the things I like Devilman Crybaby is that it lets the gays be messy. They aren't pure flawless characters, they gently caress up and poo poo gets out of hand because gay people are people and people are fallible and love makes you completely stupid sometimes.
