Do streamers actually get money from a Prime sub since it's free for the user?

I don't give a flying gently caress about subbing to any channels, but since I have my free Prime sub laying around I usually toss it PJ's way because he's a cool dude. But since I don't pay for it, does it actually do anything for him?

Isn't the point to beat the game fast? Why do points matter? Wouldn't leeching then lower your in game time and defeat the purpose?

We had a backup, but it's still a pain in the rear end to restore everything and make everyone aware of the new domain. No surprise that pac and the rest of the speedruns.com team got them up and running again; I talked to them many many years ago and they're decent folks.

I think the only legitimate reason for a hijack like that where I won't call bullshit is if it's a contractor who's client refuses to pay for a delivered website.

Otherwise it's a lovely thing to do no matter what the circumstances.

Not to drag this on any further but mzxrules posted a snippet of what seems like IRC logs on /r/speedrun. In short, she wasn't happy with many of the people in charge of the BotW discord (and ZSR? I'd assume so), saying they didn't even play or care about the game and just tried to exert control.

Seems she had reason to be mad, but regardless of whether or not her response was appropriate, at least it sparked a long overdue discussion about what should be done with ZSR. The site was pretty outdated in many places and the information pages probably cumbersome to update.

Which still doesn't make it right to hijack a domain.

I unfollowed her a long time ago myself, around the time that the new Smash Brothers came out and her stream became endless Smash is boring as gently caress. I'm sad to see such a popular streamer has fallen from grace like this.

e: lol nevermind she's speedrunning botw right now so I guess she's still involved I guess, even if she hasn't submitted anything since 2014.

I feel this way with any Dark Souls/Bloodbourne speedrun. On video it looks like the runner is just running through the levels and mashing their face up against a boss and attacking, but there's so much more going on than it looks.

I'd say about 80% of all ROMs work out of the box. The last 20% is wonky but nerds on the internet figured out work arounds for most of them by now, depending on how much effort you want to go through.

Just google for hackchi2, it's really easy to set up but you're on your own for the ROMs. It's incredibly easy to use.

Baten Kaitos is really good but the key to enjoying it is completely ignoring the card combo mechanic.

It's also really loving long so on a normal playthrough I wouldn't be surprised if you saw some of those 48 hour cards do their thing. Playing casually, that game took me several months to beat and I swore off ever doing it again because it was such a commitment.

I mean, let's be fair here, KevinDDR has his own host of problems. Not from being a lovely person mind you but I know he's had a couple mental breaks in the past. I 100% do not fault him in choosing to not engage in that talk because it's mentally exhausting to do such a thing and, for a group that obviously won't listen, it's just not worth the effort. Especially if it's a perfect dark discord and he wants to be able to talk about video games in the future without being chased out.

The biggest value of the serious thread recently has been for the been post AGDQ commentary, discussions, and recommendations. With the past AGDQs I ignore most of the live stream, then when it's over I pop into the serious thread to find out the must-watches and final fundraising results.

I'll even go as far to say as you don't even need to post it until the event is about to wind down.
