So not only are we in the Worst Timeline, we’re also in the weirdest: Elon Musk quietly dating musician Grimes quote:A source tells us the pair met around a month ago online, of course, through a joke Musk had planned to tweet but discovered Grimes had already made, dealing with the complications of artificial intelligence. Our reality seems to be procedurally generated.

Mr. Nice! posted:The biggest difference between hardcore conservative christians, zionists, and radical islam is which prophet of god they chose. Everyone else is wrong and blasphemous. Women are property, children are instructed to and obey god's law above all else and brought up to believe their way is the only right way, and that the men in charge are always right. The people in charge are also typically guilty of the most heinous crimes they preach against. I’m in favor of putting all of these people on a deserted island and giving them one year to battle it out to the death among themselves to determine who in fact is the best. After that time, we’ll check in, see who won, remark “Wow! Didn’t see that one coming!” and then launch every nuke in the world on that one spot. Two birds, one stone.

You haven’t had the full DC taxi experience until one guy tries to charge you $80 per person to take you from H Street to northern Alexandria. I deleted my Uber account because they got to be too creepy, but I will still use Lyft frequently. (I recognize that they’re probably just as bad, but at least they’re less overtly evil than Uber)

Dance Officer posted:This is rather worrying. Thats a densely populated city with probably poor sanitation and a busy port. It's a good thing this is being taken so seriously. Also working in the response’s favor is that there’s a huge UN mission already in country that has airlift capabilities and can facilitate easier movement in the bush. That being said, I would be seriously worried if any cases made it into Kinshasa and crossed the river into Brazzaville, because then you’re looking at coordinating between two governments that really don’t like each other and dealing with a highly contagious disease in a teeming megacity with poor sanitation conditions and already stressed medical infrastructure. Another thing that helps right now is that it’s the rainy season in Central Africa, so that really helps to constrain movement along unpaved rural “roads.” That said, I’m glad I’m not due to go back to Central Africa until later this year. I hope it burns out by then.

I’m gonna buy all of those summit challenge coins when they inevitably end up on EBay to help Trump pay his legal fees. Then I’m going to melt them down and pour them into a die of Kim Jong-Un buttfucking a grimacing Trump with an ICBM and sell the miniature statues to raise money for local Democratic candidates.

Nick Soapdish posted:I realize it isn't a new current event but, Democratic Party still garbage. I hope that the only two casualties of Trump’s administration are the Democratic and Republican Parties. The latter are a bunch of conmen, thieves, sycophants and Bible thumpers out to gently caress over everyone who isn’t a rich white male Christian, and the Democrats think that their path to defeating one of the most unpopular presidents in history is to enlist those Republicans who are slightly less odious than Trump. I’ve never voted for a Republican in my life, but I’m finding it increasingly difficult to enthusiastically vote for Democrats as well. Guess it’s a good thing that I live in DC and my vote is meaningless to begin with.

Here go the Democrats, trying really hard not to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory out in California: quote:With so many Democrats running, the party’s fear is that the vote will be splintered, allowing Republicans — who have fewer candidates — to dominate some primaries. The party and allied groups are spending more than $4 million on just three campaigns, intervening in one contest to prop up a favored candidate; attacking a Republican from the right in another; and even reminding people not to waste their votes on “ghost candidates” who have dropped out yet remain on the ballot. Basically, there are so many aspiring Democratic candidates preparing to run that it may dilute the votes individual candidates would have gotten, therefore allowing Republicans greater inroads than they might have already had. California's political system is so loving dumb, and it's giving me serious pause about my plans to move back within the next few years. And here's what's coming to California if the Democrats gently caress it up.

psydude posted:Sounds more like it's California's fault than the Democrats', but please feel free to continue to buy into the notion that everything is their fault. Can't it be both? Trump is certainly inspiring a lot of people to run, but I also think that there are unhealed wounds from 2016 that are also driving progressive attempts to flank establishment Dems from the left, even in California. I don't think that the party has reconciled its centrist leadership with its progressive wing, and going forward, that could continue to be a serious liability for them in 2018 and 2020. I'm just nervous that the Democrats are going to mishandle what seems to be a potentially winning hand and fail to retake the legislature.

“According to a pool report, President Trump responded by pointing to a window in the White House residence, and said: “She’s doing great. She’s looking at us right there.” Reporters turned to look at the spot he indicated, but there was no sign of the first lady.” Depending on what you read/believe, Melania never wanted to be First Lady and was despondent when Trump won the election. At the very least, I can’t imagine she’s very happy with all of the Stormy Daniels crap. But hey, she stuck with Trump during the birther bullshit and his horrifying campaign, so I can’t exactly feel much sympathy for her. She could have picked a much nicer person to lovelessly marry to get her citizenship.

I'm pro posting dog photos, but as long as we are doing ridiculous things like posting a picture of a bear cub to pass it off as a dog we will never be able to have a realistic conversation about whether baby dogs or bears or seal pups are cuter. Step one will always be clearly defining whether it's a bear cub or a puppy that we're posting, otherwise we just flail ineffectively while the pro cat lobbys tear apart the arguments based on technicalities. Animal biology 101 should have taught you this.

Another page out of the cowardly passive-aggressive playbook that has served him so well his entire life.
