"Needs a bailout" as in... what? I'm trying to wrap my head around the way that phrase has lost meaning to the point where it now describes uncritically how to undo a supposed feature of capitalism. I mean (valley girl voice), like, a hedge fund is a legal bookie of sorts, that bets on companies instead of sports teams but basically still just takes calculated risks for profit, often to the, like, detriment of unwilling participants like residents or employees? And, like, as the name implies, it safeguards its investors against big losses? But, like, now that it failed to do that because of the (dubiously legal) actions of a third party, it ^~*needs*~^ a bailout from, like, the government, maybe? In order to, like, stay in the business of enriching its investors by, like, making money off of having money but not, like, actually contributing to society, and even - as is often* the case - going out of their way to avoid paying, like, taxes? Have I, like, got that right? *citation needed Either way: LO, like, L

First thought best thought: the demographic makeup of the group that designed the program reflects that of the people who end up participating. It's sweet that the person in charge feels frustrated, but I doubt anyone from those communities would be surprised at the outcome.

Below the (excellent) topsoil Denmark is about 50/50 clay and sand which is not very exciting but absolutely everything built before the invention of poured concrete (which, hello, sand) is made of bricks and made to last. Megatorrents could take days or even weeks to complete, and people genuinely seemed to care about their dl/ul ratio. Angels with seedboxes would keep popular stuff active for months. There were songs and poems about the 99% blues. Audiogalaxy was chock full of aggressive ads and malware but had pretty much all of popular music, astalavista was the same but for cracks and keygens (I know a guy who collected them for their sweet midi tunes), DirectConnect was the place to look for ultrarare stuff or single issues of comics that you missed in the weekly bundle. In retrospect it's wild 1. how much IP we got for free and 2. how much effort it took compared to today

The co op part makes it a bit cheaper, and because teachers are less likely to get into serious accidents (we don't have a tradition of school shootings in Denmark), it's a comparably good deal. But they will still fight your claim to some extent, because any payout means that everyone else has to pay more. We have that one too.
