It's been incredibly lucrative for him. there are other critics of the american security state and american empire who have lost their lives or their freedom doing the same thing. a couple of his former sources come to mind lol. most journalists don't get the kind of cultural cachet he does, nevermind enjoy the kind of job security or lifestyle he does.
