Globo has also cancelled releasing popularity polls since they would give Lula and PT a way larger margin of success, so yeah they're kind of freaking out and the Haddad corruption accusations seem to be bullshit.

The strategy seems to be they hope to stall enough the PT vote so they can slam Haddad with said charges, and hope Bolsenaro can get the share.

At least the comments on that piece are telling them to gently caress off, and Publico doesn't usually have a readership that leans that way. Maybe we'll get another piece on how its illogical to support Haddad by some hosed up monster again!

Bolsonaro and Globo hate one another. Globo promotes liberal social values and neoliberal economic policies. Bolsonaro and his minions fault Globo for promoting "gender ideology".

Hopefully this knife attack doesn't help him in the ballot.

We are hosed, who am I kidding.

I really loved Portugal. Thought of trying to pursue a career there, even though the salary is considerably less than most of Western Europe in my field.

I don't know. In the end I really love Brazil so much. Not in a dumb jingoistic way. I just love to play our music and dance our dances and speak our Portuguese. Why is everyone so loving dumb?

I agree with the sentiment that there will be no major political discontinuities for the amusement of gleeful rubbernecking gringos. There will be a lot of suffering, legitimization of death squads, marginalization of minorities, even greater influence of the worse breed of neopentecostais on politics. But no great spectacle, probably. Hopefully.

Militias formed by military policemen and firefighters control access to goods and services in periferic neighborhoods of Brazil's major cities, notacibly in Rio. They charge for gas (the one used for cooking), ilegal public transportation, illegal cable TV (called gatos), and extort money from businesses and private citizens alike in protection rackets.

My family is full of teachers and professors, as are most of my friends (LGBT, also). This is the dumbest education policy conceivable, Jesus Christ.

My dream was to be a professor in my home city of Belo Horizonte. I am never going back now.

How are universities in Portugal, Portuguese goons (portugoons?)? I loved Portugal and speaking portuguese instead of this weird rear end language, I would happily live in a small town with an ok university anywhere in Portugal actually.

Yes, I have an Italian grandmother and my aunt's family used this in order to become italian-brazilian citizens. I thought about trying it too but nowadays it is much harder. And I would rather become Portuguese after some years of residency, since both processes take years or more and I don't really want to be Italian. But I might have no choice in the matter. I will see what I can do. Thanks!

About armed insurgencies: it is a catastrophically bad idea. It is all mostly a matter of momentum. Right now 56% of Brazilians voted for the fascist. So you have the police, the plutocrats, the army, the evangelicals, the new political establishment and most of the population in favor of Bolsonaro. You should just find ways to protect yourselves, your loved ones and the disenfranchised.
