TBF, it's the first time I've heard it brought up, since most people are just talking about extending the current Medicare program to cover people under retirement age. Not that it's a bad idea, but it would completely throw any cost projections out the window.

Washington also covers dental with it's Medicaid

I'm not trying to be pedantic, but Medicare and Medicaid are separate things, the former being entirely federally run vs. the latter, which depends upon funding from the states themselves. The emerging Democratic healthcare plank is centered around the expansion of Medicare.

Anyone bitching about the cost of M4A can do two things. Eat the corn straight out of my rear end in a top hat, and explain why the amount we're paying for-profit industries for the travesty of a medical system we have now suddenly doesn't count when it comes to covering everyone.

I'm not even sure the insurance industry would be that opposed to it, either, since removing the requirement that they cover high risk people would lower their overhead a ton and allow them to focus on selling supplemental insurance.

They made a new(ish) kind of can opener that doesn't go on the side and punch down through the top of the can but instead goes on the top and slices through the little tiny rim around the side. They are super cool. The lid acts as a lid even after you cut it open. It just slides right back on and seals up the can just fine for putting leftovers back in the fridge. It also does not leave sharp edges as it cuts through. If you're using a can opener on the regular I really recommend one.

Woof Blitzer posted:

Most encryption used today is not possible to break because of the math involved. So even if they pass a million pie in the sky laws it won’t make a difference.

The law contains a provision that would give companies a loophole if the changes to the system weaken its performance, but it doesn't contain any definitions of what that actually means. So in theory, they could force them to replace the standard asymmetric encryption with something that has a backdoor.

Google's CEO explained to Steve King that the Apple iPhone wasn't made by Google:

https://www.businessinsider.com/ste...23QGrCd4meSqJ0U

quote:

At a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday, Google CEO Sundar Pichai was asked some difficult questions. None was more difficult than a question asked by Iowa Rep. Steve King, however, whose question was literally impossible for Pichai to answer.

King said his 7-year-old granddaughter was playing a game on her phone before an election — most likely King's November 2018 reelection bid — and was shown a picture of the congressman that included some not-so-flattering language.

"I'm not going to say into the record what kind of language was used around that picture of her grandfather," he said.

Then, holding up his Apple device, King asked Pichai, "How does that show up on a 7-year-old's iPhone who's playing a kids game?"

The Google CEO answered the question by saying, "Congressman, iPhone is made by a different company."

The Democratic staff table erupted in laughter at Pichai's reply, according to Business Insider's Joe Perticone, who attended Tuesday's hearing.
