The People Voted For Pain (thanks Azza Bamboo) What's Going On No Really, What's Going On? (thanks Azza Bamboo) Something like that. Azza Bamboo and Spangly A did big effortposts on it, which is cool and good, but anything not written within the past 10 minutes is probably speculation at this point, even by experts (which we have had enough of). There were some Meaningful Votes and the government lost by the largest margin in history and then by the fourth largest margin in history and then the EU agreed to delay Brexit until 22 May if MPs approve a withdrawal deal, or to 12 April if they don't, and there was a huge protest in London and 5 million people signed a petition which will probably be ignored, but then the Letwin ammendment passed as the House voted to take over business from the executive, then there was a 7-way hellvote on what to do next. So they ended up doing the 7 way vote as Yes/No on what kind of Brexit the House actually did want, which came back as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkEXGgdqMz8 Then there was a third Even More Meaningful Vote on just the Withdrawal Agreement. This also lost. But at least we didn't Hard Brexit last Friday. I think. So now everyone has until April 11th to figure out what the gently caress to do. If not by then then fallout No Deal on May 22nd. quote:Among the most disturbing political phenomena of our times is the emergence in the newly created state of Israel of the “Freedom Party” (Tnuat Haherut), a political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties … Haherut was infamous for its terrorist actions. Begin would serve as Israel’s prime minister from 1977 to 1983. Haherut eventually merged into Likud in 1988. In The (Non-Brexit) News • Philip Hammond says that gas heating for new houses will be banned by 2025, although gas hobs will still be allowed. • Three climbers are killed and another injured in an avalanche on Ben Nevis. • The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries reports evidence of slowing life expectancy in the UK, which first emerged in 2010–2011 and is now "a trend as opposed to a blip". • A bunch of Boeing 737 MAX 8s crashed, killing all on board. It may have been due to a faulty software update. • A coroner's inquest finds a 'litany of failures' at Colnbrook removal centre in west London led to the unlawful death of detainee Tarek Chowdhury, 64. • Jeremy Corbyn's egg attacker is jailed for 28 days (he attacked Jeremy Corbyn with an egg, not attacked Jeremy Corbyn's egg). • New figures released by the Schools Cuts Coalition show that there has been a shortfall in funding of approximately £5.4 billion since 2015. • Women from Police Spies Out of Lives have accused Sajid Javid of appointing a misogynist judge to chair the investigation into undercover police work and refusing to reveal the groups who were spied on. • The EU Parliament voted to approve a new Copyright Directive with its most-criticized components intact, including link taxes and mandatory upload filters. https://twitter.com/gabrielroth/status/1109563826213654528 Day of The Resurrection UKMT March 2019 - A month till brexit and getting more stupid somehow/The hour has come; the man is Michael Gove/we live in a hell world of piss and poo poo. TACD posted:This is good to hear 🙂 But if I’m honest another big reason I’ve been incredibly hesitant to get involved in this way is because it just seems inexcusably rude to knock on people’s doors and interrupt their business to get political at them. If doorstepping is fine then how can I expect any better from telemarketers or any other advertising? UK working class people live in a world where their living costs, childcare costs, housing costs, basic survival costs etc just hit the brick wall of stagnating wages. It may be a bit rude to knock on someones door but honestly brits are generally nice and more often than not they respond well. Plus you've internalised some Thatcherism there. Oh heaven forbid we briefly intrude on the property rights of someone in our community to talk about how we value them. How appalling.

In this new thread I want to say thanks to the previous thread for a lot of fun inspiration for drawing, a lot of kind words about my art. Also thanks for teaching me what Labour can bring to the rural areas of my county, and some constructive new ideas about the relationship between Labour and the SNP. Also huge thanks to Renaissance Robot for giving me access to forums search and an inbox and to pumpinglemma for financing .

I don't say this to be a defeated artist like most are, just that as someone who draws from time to time I can see the technicalities that make my work pretty sub standard when compared with most in published articles. It's possible that I could crap out art into one of those syndicates until I eventually strike one or two hits. It's definitely a thought.

NotJustANumber99 posted:What does that mean? It means that people shouldn't say "racially charged" when they mean "racist". The latter is even shorter with fewer characters and syllables for convenience! The only reason to use the former is to avoid upsetting horrible racists, which is hardly any way to combat racism (and they're always in a bad mood anyway, might as well just say what you mean)

Hi April thread The house of Lords owns and if anything we should make the commons hereditary too! The Queen brings in tourism cash and has no political influence of her own whatsoever, what a steal! There's no such thing as English privilege, whiny jocks shut up! British people have nothing to answer for regarding the empire coz it woz a long time ago! MPs should be paid higher salaries, this would stop corruption! The UK is a democracy! Michael Gove is a talented and intelligent man!

Stupidest timeline: It goes to a long extension plus general election. No second referendum is on the Cards. Labour repeats its soft brexit manifesto and seems quiet about a second referendum. The conservatives promise a better deal. After extensive committee meetings, the CUKs finally announce their manifesto. They have two policies. First: Stop Brexit, Remain in Europe Second: Immediately after the first is resolved, hold another general election. Knowing they'll have no actual political responsibility, and that they'll just have to stand in the house once to pass the remain motion, remain voting celebrities parachute in to every constituency as CUK LDs. They make significant ground but don't win and now Labour is in a coalition with TOWIE stars. Azza Bamboo fucked around with this message at 02:26 on Apr 1, 2019 |
