I’ve seen this pop up to the top page or two on Steam global sellers and stay there recently. Did it hit it big in the streaming community or something?

I’m glad though because the few hours I’ve put into the EA seem quite good.

I’ve just recently started playing this and it seems really good. Like you can definitely see the budget limitations here and there, but the gameplay is solid and the UI is probably the best of these games I’ve played?

Somehow each skill having its own skill tree is even more overwhelming than PoEs passive skill tree. It seems more flexible to try stuff out and respec at least.

Thanks for talking up the Primalist. I started one up today and have been having great fun. I think I'm going to go all in on a good boy build and see how strong these wolves can get.

Did they change skill level up speed in .84? It feels slower than last time I played, but I think it's a good change. Before that poo poo went by way too quickly. Or maybe I'm just completely misremembering.

I’m surprised how much I’ve been taken by this game recently. I’m playing a beastmaster and I think it’s just a perfect pace for my tastes - a bit slow compared to most aRPGs and just super chill. I jump at some dudes and swipe them down with my bear and pack of wolves and it’s all lovely. Being able to constantly tweak my loot filter so easily is such a blessing.

I vaguely remember playing PoE back in beta and wishing I’d kept up with it better over the years rather than playing maybe on league a year, and that’s kind of what this feels like. A really solid game that you can see a million cool ways for them to expand on over the years to come.

Fixed the “Initializing” screen showing after login even when the queue system isn’t active. This makes getting to character select slightly faster.
Fixed a bug where the Leave Game button took you back to Login rather than Character Select.
Fixed another rare server bug which could cause save data loss. We are monitoring telemetry to find any other causes that need to be addressed.

Skills

Thorn Shield now has a slight priority for targeting players over minions and mobile minions over immobile minions.
Fixed a bug where Shift’s Deadly Ambush and Braskula’s Hesitation nodes were applying to all non-channelled attacks, not just the next non-channelled attack after Shift.
Fixed a bug where Meteor’s Cycle of Fire only granted its ward and mana for 4 seconds after gaining Craterborn, rather than for the full 6 second duration of Craterborn.
Fixed a bug where Teleport’s Comet Rush did not refresh the duration of an existing Haste.
Fixed a bug where your Vengeance tree sometimes affected an ally’s versions of Riposte and Iron Blade instead of yours.
Fixed a bug where the Fulminating Caw node on the Storm Crow tree sometimes caused an ally’s increased lightning damage to apply to your crows instead of your increased lightning damage.
Fixed a bug where the nodes on the Ballista tree that caused your stats to apply to your ballistae sometimes caused an ally’s stats to apply to your ballistae instead.
Fixed a bug where the on-use sounds for some instant cast abilities would not play on the client of the player using the skill.
Fixed the trails behind Acid Flasks, Hammer Throw hammers, and Axe Thrower axes in mid-air stretching incorrectly.

Chat & Social

Fixed a bug where chat channel selection could be reset in some situations. This could cause chat to turn back on after it’s been turned off.
Fixed gameplay messages that are shown in the chat window (i.e. Loot Filter Disabled) being hidden when Chat is disabled.
Fixed commands for replying to your last whisper (/r) and changing channels (i.e. /party) not working.
Added a /lfg command to switch to the Looking For Group channel.
Fixed a bug where Whisper and Party chat messages could sometimes appear to be from the wrong channel.
Fixed new chat messages sometimes being cut off halfway vertically.
Added a sound effect for receiving direct messages.
Fixed the friends list scroll view being shorter than intended, causing fewer friends to be visible at once.
The Add Friend and Block Player pop-ups now auto-select the input box so you can type right away.
Fixed sections in the friends list re-opening when they should remain collapsed.
Fixed a bug where adding a friend could cause an existing friend to disappear from the list for a while.
Made a few small improvements to the visuals of the friends list.

Items

Cindersong now also grants +1 to Fire Spells. Also improved the clarity of its tooltip.
Unused dungeon keys are now returned back to your inventory when closing the dungeon entrance window (if you have space).

Visuals

Fixed a bug where the water in Ritual Lake echoes would cause visual effects to become invisible.
Reduced the overall brightness of Imperial Metropolis and Snowbound City echoes to make it easier to see.
Updated the visuals for Drain Life’s poison explosion.
Updated the visuals for abilities used by Profane Flesh.
Fixed the visuals and damage for Profane Flesh sometimes not lining up with its animations.
Fixed Profane Flesh snapping to face new targets rather than turning.
Fixed Ruby Nagasa not animating properly on death.
Fixed Infernal Husks not animating properly.
Fixed Apophis sliding at the beginning of the cutscene in Maj’Elka Upper District.
Fixed Liath having glitchy animations in Island Battlefield.
Fixed the Timeline Conduit in the Shade of Orobyss’ arena having a red outline.

Optimization

Fixed a bug causing memory usage to go up on the client over time, particularly in Monolith. We tested the fix by playing through 10 campaign zones and 10 echos, and found that the fix reduced memory usage by more than 1 GB at the end of the test.
The visual assets for enemies were not being properly unloaded when moving to different zones.
RAM usage definitely still goes up over time, and we are currently investigating this further.
Replaced several lightning visual effects with new ones which are much more performant.
Improved the performance of death visual effects for various enemies.
The ice projectile ability used by Ice Elementals is now pooled, which mitigates FPS drops caused by this enemy.
Updated the Wengari Axe Throw ability’s visuals to be more performant.
Fixed an issue that could cause unnecessarily large patch downloads. Unfortunately, the fix can’t help the download size of this patch, just future ones.

Notes

Thank you for continuing to make bug reports! We are still focused on bug fixes, server and service stability, performance, and polish. We plan to continue releasing updates but at a more consistent pace with fewer, larger patches. We will still hotfix any critical issues that come up.

Some particular bug fixes that we’re currently working on include:

Deleting stash categories causes items to go missing (we’ve confirmed that no items are being deleted)
Players sometimes being unable to enter dungeons (this doesn’t affect everyone evenly which makes it harder to track down)
Changing left mouse button behavior (i.e. move to attack)
Re-ordering skills while transformed
Abomination “forgetting” what minions it consumed after moving to a new zone

Since I started playing this Primalist I've wondered why I occasionally get a wolf that's super mega aggro. Like running across half the map when everyone else is just chillin' with me. Today I got one of those wolves and happened to notice it had a name, not just "Primal Wolf" or whatever - Fenton. Which I have to believe is the most deep cut reference ever to this video which I haven't thought of in like a decade. What a weird thing to exist.

Just got my first character to monoliths. The campaign was fun - a bit...unevenly presented, for sure, but I thought it was well paced and particularly towards the end had a bit of interesting story stuff.

I'm playing a minion primalist with wolves and a bear. Both feel very good - the other options (raptor, scorpion and cat) don't, sadly. I hope those continue to get some work, or maybe just replace one of them with something else. idk how strong this build really is (probably not very) but I like fighting alongside my pets and so far that's been very doable. Excited to see where it goes now that I can start "mapping" and working towards some gear goals.

Overall I'd say game is good - a very solid foundation that's already fun and a million places where you can see them expanding in the future.

Only real complaints are some of the presentation stuff and loading times.

I meant like "there are bad game design decisions that make it really hard to party up and play together" or "it just doesn't work because lag/disconnects/bugs/whatever". Sounds like the latter?

Maybe I’m just easy to please but I think the game will launch with sufficient content for a new one of these games. I don’t expect anything (even PoE2) to launch with the current PoE endgame or anything. I don’t even know that I’d want it to - developing that stuff over a long period of live production with lots of player feedback probably leads to the best results, so may as well mark it 1.0 if the play experience will be good and get to it.

Yeah this is my actual worry about classes. I know this stuff is to be expected, that developers and tools get better with years of work and so often make cooler and cooler stuff, but man does Runemaster make some of the older classes feel bad to play lol.

Outside of like 10 minutes of matchmaking issues I had very few problems with the 3.5 hours I played. I’m very happy with the visual and “feel” improvements, and generally think they had a successful launch day all things considered. Hopefully they keep getting it ironed out for the weekend.

Game is super good and I can’t wait to see where they take it in the future.

Man I don’t think this makes my top 25 list of most hosed online game launches. Like it could go downhill from here, but if the worst is behind us then it’s been very successful, imo. Like massively moreso than I was expecting.

This is one of the most fun Paladin type characters I've played. I tend to like tanky, relatively lazy DoT builds in these games, and Paladin here has a pretty good one. It's basically just charge in, trying to hit as many enemies on the charge as possible to spread ailments and stack fire penetration, then hit Judgement for the healing and consecration aura that burns everything else to death while you swing away. Just about to start monoliths so we'll see how it goes there but through the campaign it's been consistently very fun and cool looking.

I think I'm happy for now with my Paladin. I'll keep playing him but I believe I have the build I want and just need to keep making it better.

Instead I'm going to try for a similar character/opposite theme thing and try to make a melee necromancer "death knight" type character. Not sure how much support there is for that but it'll be fun to try at least.

I’m curious how EHG feels about this. I think it’s cool and am currently doing just that with my Paladin, but I don’t know if I want it expanded a lot or not. It seems like it’s the kind of thing to have as a cool one-of kind of option but probably not best in numbers larger than that.

I assume so as well. Or at least I hope they keep it in mind - as they make more of these options and add more skills it seems like the kind of thing that could start having edge cases that they might not want.

Bone Golem is an unexpectedly fun skill. Most pets are really, I think this might my favorite one of these games for pet builds, but the golem especially just looks like he’s having a lot of fun out there.

Idk if it’s this or not but some skills like Fissure have a rather long delay just as part of the skill, and I think if you try moving or do something else during that time it cancels it. It took me awhile to get used to not interrupting Judgment with Rive or whatever.

I assume server lag can make it worse but I connect at like 25 ping and still had to mentally focus on it a bit.

You can’t replenish forging potential but you can use the Glyphs of Hope to try not to spend it. If you get a nice string of successes you can get a lot more on there.

I hope we get more Weaver's Will items. Leveling them is fun imo.

Also, LP is one of the better ideas in these games I think. I wish there were more ways of actually using the LP, but hunting for it and its ability to boost up otherwise kinda lowly uniques is cool as hell.

It’s like a late game thing that still progresses kinda quickly once all your other options for quickly progressing have run out. Like so many parts of the game it’s just a great idea. Hitting a 28WW and getting some bullshit affixes will be soul crushing though lol
