Hoping one day IS gives out in-game statistics of how many players just forget Gilbert even exists after the chapter he's introduced in. Which is probably understandable seeing as how he's only playable on only one path.

Is Steal even useful? I kept two characters in Thief long enough to get it, but I haven't seen any weapons/items worth using a turn to snatch.


So, from what I can tell, you only get stat bumps for the first certification you get for each tier. And, even then, it isn't guaranteed. I just got Jeritza classed as a Dark Knight, and he didn't get anything. Shima didn't get anything for unlocking Bow Knight. Lin got maybe a +2 cha for unlocking Bishop? But Lysithea got an absurd +8 def plus a smattering of other stuff for unlocking Warlock.

Putting them on a beefy flier like Claude or your Dancer is probably OP, but I like the meme factor of putting them on a Nuke Mage w/ +range staff or Fortress Knight w/ A ranked bows.

Is there any reason to recruit as many people as you can aside from seeing their stories develop? It feels at this point like it makes more sense to focus on a core group of about 12 so that I can realistically keep them all reasonably leveled up.

I'm doing this playthrough in Japanese since I've seen the game three times already. It's interesting how some of the lines are slightly different than they were in English. Almyra is "Parumira" in Japanese. I'm not sure why the translator decided to forgo the "P" in the translation. Maybe because it's named after a real place and they didn't want to offend anyone?

Also, Bernadetta's Japanese voice is ridiculously high-pitched and squeaky.

yeah after i got extremely owned by them i of course checked what the trigger was (i play fire emblem with a wiki open at all times anyway) but these specific ones are really bad because unless you have no characters down the side routes, evading their threat range is practically impossible (without running headfirst into some more enemies). i don't want the map to punish me for actually engaging with the intended mechanics!

I've been told that the answers to some of my story/setting questions are found in the DLC story, so I got that. But, to my surprise, I'm not liking it at all. The setup to get the plot rolling is weak, I don't like the new characters and I'm stuck with two old characters with personalities that grate on me in the fixed party. That stuff I can tolerate, but the maps themselves are giving my pause. In general it seems like my units have significantly less accuracy and evasion even without special floor tiles at play. I have the difficulty as low as possible, but every map has been a tiring onslaught of enemy units I slowly have to crunch through. I got halfway through the map with the golems, realized that the swarm of golems that spawned in will probably dismantle my units over 30 painstaking minutes and put it down.

Am I missing something? I want to experience these story tidbits but the gameplay is discouraging.

Ashe is great, probably the most well-adjusted character in the cast. No, my problems are with Hilda and Linhardt. They never stop whining, even during battle! I was hoping that their support scenes would make them more likeable or sympathetic but all the ones I unlocked just reinforce their unpleasantness.

One character in particular got my attention: Rhea seems to have ranks all the way to S support. Is it possible to see all of them if you spam her with gifts and training sessions or is it just a fakeout? I've only seen the C rank.

like, for a relevant example, i've seen people not do any of lorenz's supports because he seems like (and kinda is) an unlikable fop. don't you *want* to see people dunking on him? you can't have scenes like that if there's no character to dunk on!

This discussion made me realize that yeah, all Holy Knight actually needed to feel good would be to replace the possibly most useless skill in the game, Terrain Resistance, with some other white magic related ability and they're good.

terrain resistance feels like a skill from an entirely different game with actually present terrain hazards that got left over into 3H and nobody cared to change it.

I chose her for my Goddess tower conversation, and it was the single most un-romantic conversation I've seen of any character so far. "Teacher, we can get a thing if we wish for it. Wish with me so I can get a thing. Also, Jeralt."

And her A support with Felix was just kind of like "Yes, we both can learn more about fighting from each other! Great!"

Like, I get it, she's more focused on her goals than any other character in the game because she probably has the most diadvantageous start of anyone, but even so, it feels like there's a basic lack of normal human interaction in her supports.

I picked up my last playthrough, a Blue Lions run, and it was in month 1 (or chapter 8 or 9 or something, I don't remember, but Jeralt was just killed. With the paralogues having a hard end date of 2/22 and knowing in advance there was a big timeskip, I looked through my supports. I barely had anyone at C, let alone B. I feel like I hosed up by not religiously delivering all those lost items and/or giving gifts with my free time.

My second game I recruited everyone but Lorenz because I have my limits.
