New video about the terrain.

Key points I took from it:
- it pretty
- you can name some features if you're the first to find them
- control of natural wonders/landmarks will be quite important for your economy
- it pretty
- a few more different biomes than what you get in Civ. Taiga and savanna for example
- from one screen that flashed by, it looks like each tile will have only one yield type. Not sure how I feel about that

Geysers seem to give both industry and science while rivers give industry and food.

I miss the Amplitude that made animated trailers with outstanding music and kickass cinematography.

That's ballsy of them. Subreddits are usually owned by random guys unrelated to the game devs in question so totally doable.

These new scenarios are kind of tough. At least the siege one.

That's weird. I thought this game was based on historical events.

Discover Amplitude's latest roguelite tactical action game set in the awarded Endless universe. Recruit a team of shipwrecked heroes, plunge into a long-abandoned space station, and protect your crystal against never-ending waves of monsters… or die trying, get reloaded, and try again.

It's Dungeon of the Endless except action game. The title is... maybe not the best? But I guess there's not much they can do.

I don’t really get why theyre a science civ. is it just the Nobel prize? They may spend a fair amount on it but Sweden would never be the first nation I think of for science

Sweden has more researchers per million inhabitants than the US, Japan, Germany, etc...

And they spend just as much of their GDP on it too.

It's like every time a new nation is revealed, people come and get surprised foreigners don't live in mud huts nor do they poo poo on their hands.

I can't figure out how to get in a war with my neighbour

The declare war button says "war support must be 0", but shouldn't that be 100?

Their war support on me is at 100 because I keep trespassing etc. but mine is still at 50.

I don't think I can get in any border skirmishes because there is no unclaimed land anywhere between us...

e: but anyway cool game so far, no bugs or crashes here. I'm not a fan of adjacency bonus tile planning but oh well.

Actually I think that's a bug. Should read 80.
It's mentioned in the stickied threads on the Steam forums.

An incredibly stupid design decision and would have been an easily fixed one, I have no idea what the devs were thinking. They certainly earned my thumbs down on steam for it though and I've have refunded it if it hadn't suckered me in past the return window.

Game should be $20, it's half finished and nothing especially novel if you've already played Civ or Endless Legend. (I pre-ordered the digital deluxe version based on the open beta 6 months ago that seemed more finished than the actual game is.)

They patched that in today. Calm down, mate.

I would have loved to try Vulkan to see if it helped performance but you can't use it with the gamepass version.

I can tell you one thing: Going back to EL after Humankind is proving to be tough as hell. The ease of use to fun ratio is like night and day.

I had this exact same reaction because my lovely old laptop can’t handle Humankind but I wanted to play around with something when I don’t have access to the family room tv. Ended up chucking civ5 back on the laptop instead.

I don't think I understand how war works.

I declared on a neighbor and quickly took two cities plus attached territories. Opponent runs out of war support and this triggers them to force-surrender to me. However, it's not an option - I have to let them surrender to me, and in doing so give them back one of their cities.

The really annoying this is that I was like 5 war score away from being able to vassalize them.

How exactly does that work? Why do I have to stop the war and cede ground just because they run out of support?

Don't go to wars without making demands first. All your demands are accepted if you win a war.
In this game going to war without demands is the equivalent of doing it for funsies.

it would be cooler if we could actually customize and create avatars :negative:

to me that is still the weirdest most obvious omission in the game. why even create this whole avatar system and then just not let us create them?

Cause they envisioned people would play with their friends' avatars. The french are very social I guess.

They mentioned the option to create multiple avatars was coming at some point.

I think the idea is that javelins fly in a low arch while bows fire in a tall one. That's how I interpreted it even if that's not mentioned anywhere, in true Amplitude fashion.
