I'm currently looking for bullet residue on the boardwalk but I'm not getting a popup anywhere. I've been over the area a half dozen times, what am I missing?

There's a line that made me bust a gut, but the circumstances for seeing it are so specific I heavily doubt most of you know it: during one of the confrontations with Titus, if you fail a check (probably Half Light), there's an option to ask Kim for his gun. If you follow through with that, you discover that you're being goaded to put the gun in your mouth, at which point the only option you can select is "But I want to point it at them!" And then you get a response along the lines of "oh, it's too late for that, buddy. No stopping this train."

And then Kim pulls you aside and asks what the gently caress.

People keep saying "she's playing you" but how much does that actually change about the circumstances, really? It makes her less sympathetic, sure, but it's not really enough on its own to change most peoples' minds, I think.

Which isn't to say that's why you shouldn't bring her in. You shouldn't bring her in because you can't afford to be without Kim for the rest of the day :v:

Can someone clear something up for me? I feel kind of stupid because I don't quite understand the nature of the competition between Precincts 41 and 57. When you first talk about it Kim says that it's about who has to police Martinaise and that he volunteered as the representative to spoil it, which to me meant that he intended to show up and do a good job to gently caress over his precinct because winning meant they'd get jurisdiction over Martinaise, which they don't want. But when you tell him you think Precinct 41 sent you as a joke to gently caress with 57, Kim says he thinks both precincts would prefer a win. So... it's not about who has to police Martinaise? Why wouldn't they find someone better than Kim (who himself admits he isn't 57's finest officer, though he's selling himself short)? Sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

It seems vague and stupid from both characters' perspectives, but I think you're overstating it- it's a petty pissing match with no real (or at least realistic) expectation of an outcome from either side besides solving what should probably be an open and shut case, though I get the impression Kim is considered reliable at the very least Like most interdepartmental rivalries there's not really much logic to what they do.

Ah, okay, that works.

Like waypoint?

Calling Waypoint "moderate" would be kind of a stretch, but also they ended up really liking it. The main reason one of them was kind of down on it at first was that it seemed relentlessly cynical about every political philosophy without offering any kind of alternative answer (and seemingly ignoring options to facilitate this), but by the end of the game that person, while still somewhat holding that position, ended up really enjoying the game and finding counterpoints to their initial response. They did a whole spoilercast on it that I haven't listened to in full but what I heard was mostly gushing praise.

Anyway, I'm not sure I've ever seen a better dialogue option than "It could have been multiple seagulls."

Hey, after the latest patch I'm noticing that descriptions of thoughts in the Thought Cabinet are getting cut off due to a change in the font size or what-have-you. Is there any way to fix this?

Okay, now I ran into a weird-rear end glitch: I gave the drunks in the fishing village Evrart's letter to sign by accident when I actually wanted to forge it myself, so I tried to reload, but couldn't open the Esc menu, so I used Task Manager to exit the game. When I started the game back up, I was in some debug menu:

And now I automatically start in it whenever I boot the game. What the gently caress????

Woah, interesting that the dream area is right below the portion of the map in an inaccessible area. Have you tried clicking on any of those options? Like Halo test scene, etc

"Block-In Playground," "Halo Test Scene," "Sense of Scale," "Grayroom," "Bright Room," and "Room of Motion" don't respond when I click them. I'm going to assume they removed whatever those would send me to.

Clicking on "Dream 3-INT" sends me to a dream scene I've never seen before, on the islet, speaking with Dolores Dei, though maybe that's in the game somewhere and I missed it somehow? (e: Oh, it's for when you sleep in the flak tower? I thought I did that, maybe there's some other requirement)

The most interesting thing I found is that clicking on the second dream sequence puts Kim there with you, but he obviously has no lines in the scene.

Maybe by "new thoughts" they're referring to ones that were in the game but were glitched/ungettable for whatever reason? I saw someone post that they got Jamrock Shuffle earlier today upon loading their game and that was a huge mystery for a while.

It seems like the whole thing is based on a negative reaction to the phasmid scene, thinking that putting the pro-communism fervor in its mouth is a copout because then the game doesn't have to commit to it being real, but, like... it seems way easier to argue that's the whole point, you're never getting that kind of confirmation, you have to believe in something.

Does it just mean you can interact with the object at a later time but not now?

White means it's locked.

if i'm not mistaken it was some American leftist (austin walker maybe? i'm not sure but i remember his take being surprisingly dumb. could also have been patrick klepek, the trust fund kid whose leftist credentials are about as fake as astroturf) who hated it cause DE didn't present communism as perfect and without fault. even though DE is probably the most effective and meaningful left-wing game ever, that still wasn't enough. No, it had to present socialism as the completely right path, even though DE is meaningful precisely because it is filled with self-reflection and self-critique.

They both recorded a podcast about how much they liked the game. This is the dumbest loving conversation.

People are allowed to criticize this game even if you think they're wrong, and being a big baby about how they're all trust fund kids or whatever because they didn't effusively praise it to your exacting standards makes you look like a child. Especially when they actually did.

Come on, man. Of course you're entitled to say "hmm dunno about that" when you see a weird or bad take. I've done that in this thread--with an article from the same website, no less. Going into weird attacks on someone's leftist credentials because they stood next to someone else who wrote a mildly critical article on their early impressions of a game that takes a bit to really come together into something truly special is... silly, to say the least.
