PokerStars VR is kind of amazing. But i’m torn on wether to pull the trigger on Creed, or get Thrill of the Fight for $20 less without being able to try it first.

Even with the FB requirements, I see messed up stuff. Like a 10 year old sounding kid asking players to give them head in the Echo VR lobby, and then simulating it, which you can do really well in the game. Zero gravity blowjobs.

Whats the best melee combat game available on the Quest 2? Apex Construct, Journey of the Gods, In Death Unchained, Until You Fall, Sairento, Swords of Gargantua, Elven Assassin?

And it fits so well design and color wise... it makes me think this was going to be the real strap, it was all designed a single headset, and in the months previous to the release they decided to split the headset in two and put the cheaper cloth strap. DrBox posted:I think I've given up on Half Life Alyx. I just don't get the hype. Yeah looks great and is really immersive but the moment to moment gameplay is so slow and plodding. Wander around scrounging for ammo and upgrade things. The combat feels awful because the guns are so weak. No melee attack in a half life VR game is also ridiculous. This is exactly how I feel about Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners. Since it was one of the first games on Quest i’ve played, I didn’t have the perspective to know that there was a lot more fun to be had, until I played other games like Pistol Whip and Superhot, but by then I had gone past the 2 hour mark.

I find the trick to the elite strap and getting comfort is to tighten the top strap so that you feel pressure on the top of your head, which is weight being taken off your face. This allows you to loosen the back wheel a little, while keeping the headset secure. I only tighten it with action oriented games.

MrOnBicycle posted:Ok here we go. I need to get into better shape so I tried The Thrill of the Fight again. First real fight. Took it slower this time. I woke up now and my deltoids are dead. I think this is going to work. Its amazing that my body is getting noticeably stronger from playing this game. Being able to beat fighters I was unable to beat a week ago. Being less out of breath in between rounds. I finish every session by doing one fight throwing punches with only my left hand. I cant wait for the sequel.

Do you get the lightsaber dojo from buying just one episode of Vader Immortal? If so, is it alone worth $10? I’m a cheap bastard.

Lemming posted:There are 3 different dojos, one for each game. The main difference is the amount of stuff you can do in each of them. In the first one, you only have a lightsaber you can hold. In the second, they add force grab, which lets you throw stuff around, as well as throwing the lightsaber. In the third you can also steal guns from enemies and throw grenades and stuff. The problem is the force is blisteringly op and there's no reason to use the lightsaber anymore, so I think the first one is the only really good one. If you only care about the dojo, I'd just get the first one. That said I think that dojo is super fun and I think it has the best melee combat I've played in VR; you need to pay attention to the way the enemies move to know when/how to block, you can lunge at enemies to get extra hits in early depending on their position, and you have to pay attention to the audio cues to know where you're getting attacked so you have cool stuff like spinning around to block a shot at the last second. Thanks for the info! I’ll get the first episode. If I like it enough i’ll get the other two.

I’m tempted by the cyber monday sale. Trying to decide between The Room or Trover Saves The Universe. I also found an adult experience that utilizes hand tracking with the Quest 2. It was good for laughs and showing it to friends.

I have a handful of games that work my upper body like In Death and Beat Saber, and I was considering one of the fitness games to work my lower body. But now I don’t have to since the pistol whip expansion works that out. I love the new arrangement of the menus too. If EA owned the game, they’d be charging $15 for it.

Professor Wayne posted:I was having some joystick drift on my Quest controller, so I used some WD-40 contact cleaner on it. The drift is gone, but now I have to press my home button as hard as I can for about 5 seconds to get it to register. Better that than motion sickness from randomly spinning in circles, I guess. In some applications, it’s better to use a lubricant, instead of a cleaner like wd-40. A lot of people make the mistake of using it on things like a bicycle chain.

You don’t need to spend a dime on Pokerstars. The prize wheel you can spin every 8 hours not only gives you chips, but the in game currency to buy the props. I saved up enough to get the drone, and a douchey vape, and a super soaker. Gun Club is great for the money. But its clearly aimed towards enthusiasts who know what style of mount goes on what gun, and which caliber ammo specific guns need. Still its cool you can play sitting down or standing up.

Using my friends first gen rift really makes me appreciate my Q2. Spent an hour trying to get the sensors to be recognized. Cords were too short. Had to reinstall the software. Setup has so many steps. Had tracking issues with walkabout, sensors werent low enough to see my hands putting. Had to face a certain way since the sensor couldnt reach the opposite side of the room. Being tethered to the PC in a crammed bedroom. The Q2 is wonderfuly simple, and liberating. Turn it on. Draw the boundary, and you’re good to go. Like a gentlemen I had my gf use the q2, while I used the rift, for playing ping pong and mini golf.

Apple manufactures the best system on a chip in the industry. So efficient that it doesn’t even need cooling, yet can run some PC games decently. They have the connections to many talented developers. They have stellar hardware design. Their products have good warranties and resale value. They have top notch marketing and advertising. They have never invented a new device. They’re just the first to do it right, as they did with the personal computer, mp3 player, cell phone, tablet, smart watch, and user friendly production software. People will pay $500 or more for an Apple VR headset if it has a handful of killer apps, and has a nice design and compelling features. And there won’t be the big privacy issue that Facebook has. Apple has a much better track record when it comes to users data and privacy.

I initially didnt like Walking Dead Saints and Sinners. I felt the guns were too weak. I sucked at handling them. And felt discouraged with the game not explaining some things, and each day passing making supplies smaller and more zombies, and feeling like I wouldn’t be able to keep up and would run out of ammo and health items. But I watched some youtube videos on tips, returned to the game, played it sitting down (which works well), and now I love it and I have plenty of supplies and weapons, and beat the game. Can’t wait for the new mode thats coming next month. Hopefully they will make a sequel.

Gorn sucks unfortunately. The concept is cool and the cartoon art style is a good fit for the quest, but the Creed style of movement, having to hold buttons and move your arms around, is frustrating. The physics feel too floaty. Not nearly as crisp and precise as other games like In Death or Until You Fall. The rubbery weapons feel janky. You’re pretty much just whacking people aimlessly. Definitely feels like a first gen VR game. Speaking of first gen VR games, i’m glad I held off on Arizona Sunshine. I think for $24 its worth a shot.

Audio Trip is great for mild to moderate intensity cardio, especially with its new cardio mode which is more intense. I didn’t care for Synth Riders, and refunded it. I really wish a big developer would buy Thrill of the Fight, and make a sequel with Creed level visuals and presentation, while retaining the realistic gameplay, and add online multiplayer. I’d gladly pay $60 for that game. Imagine if it had 20 fighters. With lots of people in the crowd. With a good score/soundtrack. Story mode. That would be epic. But its just one dude working on it, with no indication on when the next game will be done.

I got all the expensive poo poo needed, including a new high end router. Fuckin with Windows 10 settings. Oculus settings. Steam VR global and game specific settings, in game settings. Its just choppy as hell even on low resolution.
