This interesting little Subaru broke down on my street and I lent a hand and a beer this afternoon: A 1984 Subaru Leone. Same running gear as a Brumby.

I drove him to a car parts store and we got new battery, plugs and leads while at it cos it needs them too. It cranked a few times after that but was really lumpy. He fiddled with the throttle body and then wouldn't start at all haha. His mate turned up in a loving Brumby to tow it to his garage! That was gold. Made some new friends (he's the parts guy at local Toyota dealership and remembers my Sera from 10 years ago).

Here, I found some photos of the last invite-only day at Champions Peter Brock Museum. To get in, you had to be a customer of HDT or have some personal connection. I got in because I had some original Marlboro stuff for reference and duplication. Turning up with a busted rear end VY Wagon on steelies was fun. Nothing's edited, just dumped from Lightroom to JPG from RAW https://imgur.com/a/Fz7giP4 EDIT: This was 2013

I spent all morning at various shopping centres looking for the usual table of veterans selling and taking donations. I was going to by some pins and stuff too for you, but not a single place had a table. I'll try again monday on the way to the post office who usually have something. I did manage to get you a poppy though (not the one discussed in email) from my neighbours wife. For a country so proud of our ANZAC heritage, I find it kind of disgusting all the christmas stuff is out early over 11.11

gently caress these bushfires. Friends bought a small property 2 months ago and we are 80% sure it's burnt to the ground. Cannot access the area, and seeing power is cut we can't get anything from the security cameras now the UPS is drained. They are on holiday so couldn't even grab poo poo. Their parents luckily had a spare set of keys so their cars are safe at my property now. Dogs are ok, god speed to the chooks!

I have a drone, but roads closed far before their property so no range with my silly home built unit. I'm a bit worries because the sentinal fire map shows 3 fires in last 24 hours in a triangle around them. Also a photo of a helicopter on the access road to their place came up on FB. That at least means the fireys are actively in their area so thats good. I'm a few hundred KM away and still getting the smoke haze. https://sentinel.ga.gov.au/

Great news everybody! My friends property may have burnt but the main house and shed were spared! Even The chickens are all accounted for. I'm not on site but video from them shows gardens in the home paddock burnt to within a few metres of the house! Info is still patchy and waiting on a call back for all the details. I reckon a chopper had to have noticed and got there just in the nick of time. Also - found some poppies - should arrive in 6 business days to Canada.

I'm planning a bucket list cross country roadtrip for next year in the USA. Obviously very premature in asking for 'must see' stuff but all info is good info. I'll hit up most of the tourist traps, and one of every major sport (Basketball, Baseball, NASCAR, Ice Hockey). There's something about small town americana, like diners and truckstops that are right up my alley. Dodgy places with amazing food that's off the maps. For reference I spent most of my 10 days in Hawaii in a below ground local bar where the hookers and dockworkers drank. Best hotdogs I've ever had!
