sassassin looks like you're getting Brewster on loan for the rest of the season. Do you think he'll play? The kid needs as much game time as possible.

If he's better than Sam Surridge he will. And he must be, Surridge is useless. Borja Baston is back off to Spain by the looks of it, and our chairman's notes from the weekend put in a not very subtle message about us either selling big players in January or the academy is being downgraded/shut down. Ayew's been playing like he's got a shop window all to himself so fingers crossed him and his £80k a week are off, and his goals with him. We don't have any other strikers except old Wayne Routledge. Nothing in our own academy ready to go, Liam Cullen was second top scorer in PL2 behind Brighton's Aaron Connolly last season, but he's moaning little poo poo and I don't think he's up to the next step.

Not sure we can afford what you want for Brewster unless there are departures, and there's other clubs interested who are in a better position to gamble for promotion than us, and playing better football as well. We're loving dire under Cooper (who Brewster played for with England babies?).

Klopp rates Brewster and even Dortmund were sniffing around for him, but the kid needs actual playing time and he's not going to get the minutes he really needs just staying at Liverpool unless a massive injury crisis arises. I don't think Liverpool are looking to sell yet given the kid's potential, but he does need more development time. Hopefully he does the business for Swansea.

Hype-man Klopp namedrops every young player you've got, we had quotes from him about Dhanda before we took him on and he's nothing special. New contract the other day but can't make the matchday squad as often as not.

Brewster's missed a lot of football since being a standout in the younger age groups. Huge step up from u23s football for a centre forward.

In Spain it's a legal requirement that a buyout clause be written into a contract and a player can just hand over a cheque for the amount and they're free to go. Over here a release clause can be any number of things and if a chairman doesn't pick up the phone then you're going nowhere.

Like at this point United should just pay 50% of Rojo's salary or something, who gives a gently caress. Get him out and bring in a player who would actually a) play and b) strengthen the team.

No Portuguese club can afford 50% of Rojo's salary, let alone want to pay it. United need to chip in 80% minimum.

No, that we’re recalling league one players to our senior team because we have the thinnest squad on the planet.

I remember when Swansea fans were aghast at the idea of a young player sitting on the bench, too. PL money changes people.

Now they're still aghast but only if it's a player from our own academy, Chelsea is fine (exciting even).

edit: The lad did better at Shrewsbury than Dan James did.

Hello 16 year old footballer, how would you like to earn £30k a week? He's probably on £1k a week or so now at Birmingham, maybe less.

Last I heard he was still a scholar so not on a professional contract at all.

He had an early growth spurt, the best 16 year olds aren't always going to be the best in their age group. Other kids catch up, that's just basic biology. But since he's already capable of playing at Championship level it's a fair bet he'll be PL-quality one day, injuries permitting.

Chong is good enough to dribble through blind alleys at u23s level but hasn't currently got anything in his game to be effective against actually-good players. We had ex-United Kenji Gorre at Swansea who was like that, absolutely lethal for the u23s, then every loan was a complete failure (after we gave him a big 3 year contract).

We’re not talking about the U16s or even U20s, the U23s are grown rear end men

Most u23s sides have a bunch of 17/18 year olds so you can be a grown rear end man stat-padding against a bunch of literal kids and get a big contract abroad (or at Sunderland) if you're at a fashionable enough academy.

Swansea's u23s have used a back 4 with 3 17 year olds multiple times this season. They're in the same division as United (since Swansea were relegated from division 1 last season). Being good for Man Utd's u23s has meant very little in recent years.

Leeds using the same negotiating tactics they tried for Dan James last January to get Jarrod Bowen. Started with a straight bid, now it's a loan fee plus lump sum to make it permanent if they get promoted. Next they'll be wanting to pay nothing until the summer and crying about it in season two of their documentary.

I suspected there was an automatic renewal clause in his contract that meant he never got a game but I never expected him to get released on a free. Explains Bentaleb a bit more.

A guaranteed games clause is what made Laudrup ship him off to Sunderland for a year. Wasn't worth the hassle.
