This was really fun, and featured guys I've basically never seen before who all really impressed in-ring. There was a really nice diversity in size that changed up how and what they could (or should) do to each other and overall it just came together in a great package: really, really great as an opener to the show.

HM: The All-Star Battle Royal - Hana Kimura Memorial Show 5/23

This was completely over the top and ludicrous and stupid and I loved every second of it, and it had the perfect winner. So many incredible wrestlers in this, so many fantastic little stories and interactions.

MOTYC: Kagetsu, Hazuki, Konami, & Death Yama-san vs. ASUKA, Syuri, Natsupoi, & Mio Momono - Hana Kimura Memorial Show 5/23

The emotional background and the circumstances that lead to the match even happening at all lifts this up just that little bit higher than an HM, but the wrestling was also drat good and holy poo poo Kagetsu hasn't lost a step since she her retirement. So many cool spots/moments it does make it feel like this could be the start of further rivalries or developments, and while that probably won't happen given the unique circumstances, it's a match well worth going out of your way to see.

MOTYC: Kagetsu vs. ASUKA in an impromptu Main Event - Hana Kimura Memorial Show 5/23

Out of nowhere ASUKA challenged Kagetsu to a singles match, the retired Kagetsu accepted, they asked Hana's mother for permission and for the approval of the Korakuen crowd, got both, and then proceeded to have a fantastic match that absolutely nobody was expecting or could have dreamed of. Amazing stuff.

- Holy gently caress, this came out of nowhere. Brutality at it's finest as Okada attempts to survive against a killer, short and sweet
37KAMIINA (MAO and Yuki Ueno) vs DisasterBox (HARASHIMA and Naomi Yoshimura)
- Yoshimura's first match back after a six month injury, and he immediately made up for lost time by beating the hell out of his former tag partner Ueno. As good as Nautilus were as a tag team, they're just as good facing off against each other. Add in MAO and HARASHIMA to the mix and you've got a phenominal match.
37KAMIINA (Shunma Katsumata and Konosuke Takeshita) vs Damnation (Daisuke Sasaki and Yuji Hino)
- Yuji Hino is such a fuckin hoss, he's absolutely perfect as a man mountain for people to (try to) chop down to size. All four of these guys rule, it's like the Sauna boys didn't want to be upstaged by their compatriots in the earlier match by going balls to the wall. A little bit of interference by Damnation, but not nearly enough for me to dock points from this spectacle.

Team Thoroughbred (Sanshiro Takagi and Yukio Naya) vs DisasterBox (Kazuki Hirata and Toru Owashi) vs Akito and Keigo Nakamura vs Danshoku Dieno and Super Sasadango Machine
- Reverse Battle Royale, but not the TNA kind. All 8 guys are at ringside, and if you get tossed into the ring (and maybe into the bleachers as well? Wasn't super clear on that) your team is eliminated. Absolute insanity from start to finish.

Holy poo poo, what an awesome show. Great way to kick off Tag League, make time to watch if you've got a Universe subscription

nth on all these, but I adjusted the reverse battle royal to be MOTYC as well. I'm sure it won't be everyone's cup of tea but I absolutely loved it. Hardest I've laughed in a while.

Re: the bleachers, I don't think they got eliminated, but they had to deal with the stern usher who kept them tied up with apologies for messing up prestigious korakuen hall. I think the winner was just whoever was able to get someone into the ring first.

- Akito is fuckin smooth as silk, that man grapples as easy as breathing. Takeshita is incredible as well, these two worked really well together, Akito worked the legs and Takeshita got to show off his power with some rad as hell German suplexes. Loved this, it was exactly what I was hoping a match between these two would be.

Yuji Hino vs Yukio Sakaguchi
- Do you like hard kicks and hard chops and hard lariats and hard knees? Then this match is for you
Jun Akiyama vs Shunma Katsumata
- David vs Goliath's older tougher brother. This is a side of Shunma we don't see super often, where he's just completely outmatched by his opponent. There was an awkward moment when Shunma tried to hit a spike Frankesteiner and Akiyama went completely the wrong way but luckily neither guy got hurt and they just moved past it quickly. Real fun match especially when the legos came out
Kazusada Higuchi vs Naomi Yoshimura
- I thought the chops in Hino/Sakaguchi were meaty, but Higuchi clearly wasn't going to be outdone by his tag partner. Yoshimura more than held up his end of the match, my highlight being when he deadlifted Higuchi while being caught in the clawhold
Tetsuya Endo vs Chris Brookes
- Got a little kick out crazy right near the end, but the vast majority of the match was very well worked. Chris' devotion to attacking Endo's arm during the middle section led to a cool payoff as well. Good way to finish off teh show

Great show, only the Ueno/Sasaki match was a dud and I'm thinking that'll lead somewhere down the track, everything else was good to great

nth, but Yuji Hino vs Yukio Sakaguchi was a MOTYC for me. my favorite match of the show, even if it was a little on the short side.

- This was incredible, Mei is an absolute treasure, just have her run about for 10 minutes and everyhitng will be fine. Also Raku's shtick was great, and Moka showed fire

Miyu Yamashita and Yuka Sakazaki vs Nodoka Tenma and Shoko Nakajima
- Some of Shoko's offence was very sloppy, but I was very much entertained by Yuka being pure evil against poor Tenma in the leadup to the hot tag. Miyu also took some time out of her busy schedule being the absolute coolest to heel it up as well, plus she deadlifted Tenma like it was nothing which looked super impressive.

I usually enjoy DDT nonsense, and this had some endearing chuckleworthy spots. Even had a silly stipulation, a Tag Team reverse Battle Royal, where the loser gets tossed into the ring over the top rope.

But God it wore out its welcome. Cagematch claims thus was 11 minutes long but it felt twice that. That's basically an unforgivable sin for a comedy match in my book.

I gave this match MOTYC, lol. Weird, you don't usually see this thread disagreeing about comedy matches.

The Alpha and Omega of flippy synthetic weed guys clash, and it's really good. Every kick felt like it was intended to hurt, every submission attempt (and there were several) had an extra bit of mustard on it. For a taped match on a YouTube show this was an excellent grubby bout. I feel like they're building to TH2 / Sydals in front of a crowd, and that will be awesome.

- Just hook this poo poo into my veins. Much as I love grapplefucking and hard strikes and brutal cagematches and engaging stories (the pain from Tana/Jay is still real ), I also love four idiots rampaging through a sauna/onsen whilst fighting for a title. Very little psychology here as the boys meandered from spot to spot, but I was absolutely delighted by the insanity. I loved the four way 10 count spot where they were all sitting in chairs just exhausted. I loved bodies being thrown into pools already occupied by naked men getting their soak on. I loved Shunma hitting the Superfly splash into a pool, and then going for the cover...while Chris Brookes was still floating in the water with his shoulder nowhere near any hard surface. I loved that by the end everyone was just exhausted and waterlogged. But above all that, I love that the champion going into this was MMA legend Shinya Aoki who took a break from training for his 58th career fight to dick about at a hot spring with the boys for half an hour, simply because he loves doing silly poo poo like this.

DDT has some of the best wrestling on the planet, but those same guys do some of the most absurd poo poo and I love them for it

- Unless you are majorly turned off by single cam shows without commentary, WATCH THIS MATCH IT RULED. The whole thing was amazing, but the last 10 minutes was some of the most desperate stuff i've seen in a while. My favourite tag match DDT has put on since Eruption/37Kamiina in February, and might have even surpassed that. The sauna boys are truly incredible, no matter what combaination you're guaranteed a great match
