AEW Dynamite for 6/11 via FWOnline.com

quote:

The show opened with the Pinnacle arriving in a limousine.

**********

Matt Hardy, flanked by The Hybrid2, addressed Christian Cage. He said Christian was jealous of how much money Hardy's made, and that he would never financially recover from this. Angélico's mission in this match is to injure Christian.

Christian Cage defeated Angélico (w/ Matt Hardy & Jack Evans)

They performed chain wrestling early on, with Angélico getting the better of Christian. Christian smacked him and did the ten punches in the corner. He stayed on the top rope, but Angélico cut him off and brought him down hard. Angélico targeted Christian's arm.

Christian fought back with a couple strikes and a sunset flip, but Angélico tried to turn it into the Navarro Death Roll before landing a soccer kick. He locked on a modified juji gatame, forcing Christian to reach the ropes to break it. Christian made his comeback with a reverse tornado DDT.

A missile dropkick from Christian got two. Angélico sent Christian to the floor and Jack Evans tried to get involved, but Christian scared him away and hit a neckbreaker over the ropes. A diving headbutt followed for two.

Angélico wrenched Christian's arm to take him down, but Christian countered a dive with an up kick and cradled him for two. A kick and a jackknife pin from Angélico got two of his own. They conked heads on a ripcord, leading to a double down.

Christian avoided a corner attack and hit a pendulum kick followed by a diving uppercut. He went for the Killswitch, stared Hardy down, and hit it for the win.

– Evans attacked after the match, but Christian fought him off. Hardy used the numbers advantage to hit a Twist of Fate. Jungle Boy ran out for the save.

Cody Rhodes interview

Schiavone announced that Brock Anderson, the son of Arn, would be making his debut next week in a tag team match -- teaming with Cody Rhodes against QT Marshall and Aaron Solow. He brought out Cody, Arn, and Brock.

Cody said that next week, Brock would steal home base and hit a home run. It's a tough standard that dads have for us, but if anyone can do it, Brock can. Cody wants revenge himself, considering last week he was beaten by Anthony Ogogo.

Marshall interrupted and said he pinned Cody in the middle of the ring all by himself, just like he came out all by himself. He told Cody he'd had enough with the nepotism and passion projects. When they go back on the road, Marshall wants a full house to see him whoop Cody's rear end. He proposed a South Beach strap match.

Cody wanted to do the match now, but after cooler heads prevailed, Marshall whipped Arn with his belt. Brock took Marshall down with a Thesz press before officials ran out to break it up.

**********

A video promo played where Kingston said "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." He said they'd have to work together tonight, but PAC just stared silently and walked off.

Don Callis joined commentary for the match.

Eddie Kingston, PAC, & Penta El Zero Miedo defeated The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) & Brandon Cutler

PAC and Matt started off, with the babyface team easily beating Matt down. The Bucks forced Cutler to tag in, where he was immediately taken down by PAC. Kingston wanted to tag in, but PAC ignored him to tag in Penta, who hit a diving stomp to the rear for two. Penta ripped open Cutler's tracksuit and starched him with a chop.

Kingston tagged in and hit repeated knees to the gut followed by a stomp for two. He followed it up with a vertical suplex and an elbow drop for another two. PAC tagged himself in, leading Kingston and him to exchange words, but PAC took the fight to Cutler and implored the Bucks to tag in. Matt did, and was immediately taken out with a hip toss and a dropkick. Nick tripped entering the ring but tripped up PAC, allowing Matt to hit a dropkick ahead of the commercial.

The Bucks and Cutler controlled throughout the break. Once back, PAC kicked his way out to reach Kingston for the hot tag. Kingston sent Matt flying with a belly-to-belly before taking out Nick with an exploder. Penta tagged in with a diving crossbody on both Bucks. Cutler controlled Penta, but Penta got out of the way on double superkicks. Penta rolled out of a cazadora into a destroyer on Nick.

Cutler swept out Penta's legs but inadvertently ate a kick from Matt for his trouble. Penta hit Made in Japan, but Cutler ran in and broke up the pin. PAC tagged in and Kingston stopped Cutler from hitting PAC with the camera. We got a parade of big moves, concluded with a step-up tope from Penta.

PAC hit the 450 splash on Matt and transitioned into the Brutalizer, but Nick broke it up. Kingston cut off Nick with a boot, then he and PAC hit stereo dives to the outside. Matt rolled PAC up with a handful of tights for a good near fall. PAC laid in kicks, but a kick from Nick allowed Matt to hit an enziguiri-assisted buckle bomb. Cutler tagged in, but PAC avoided a springboard leg drop. Kingston killed Cutler with a spinning back fist, allowing PAC to pin him for the win.

– The Bucks immediately attacked after the match, joined by the arriving Good Brothers. Frankie Kazarian ran out to even the odds, crushing Cutler with a running lariat for good measure.

**********

A video played, ostensibly aiming to reveal the conspiracy to screw Kenny Omega out of the AEW World Title. This was all comedy, mocking documentaries like Dark Side of the Ring. It presented Omega as the beloved champion defying the odds.

**********

The Pinnacle Speaks

Harwood said that Stadium Stampede didn't go the way they wanted it to go. He called out Santana & Ortiz, saying they and FTR weren't that different -- they both overcame adversity and made something of themselves. The difference is that Santana and Ortiz lost their edge. Harwood's got a wife and kid, and he uses his edge to fill his bank account. Wheeler doesn't have a family, and he doesn't give a sh*t about theirs. FTR works together to build their legacy, while Santana and Ortiz are happy being a footnote.

Spears said that Guevara got lucky. It's ridiculous that Jericho called him a "hero" last week. Guevara's nothing more than a glorified indie wrestler. The Pinnacle are professionals, and Spears is the hero.

Wardlow said that Hager is obsessed with him. He brings out the best in Hager. Hager invited Wardlow to his comfort zone, because he knows he could never beat Wardlow in a wrestling ring. No matter where they are, they're always in Wardlows world. He accepts Hager's challenge.

MJF is tired of acting like he has something to prove when he's already the best. Being the best is daunting, and it bring pressure. He grew up idolizing Jericho – he watched every promo and read every book. Back in 2019, after the Double or Nothing rally, MJF saw Jericho backstage. His heart was beating a million miles a minute because he'd have the opportunity to work with Jericho. That should've been a dream come true, but it wasn't.

That haunted MJF at night, until it hit him: he had been idolizing a false god. He thought he would be like Jericho, but Jericho's not even on MJF's level. He's already beaten Jericho twice, so his match request is denied.

MJF then addressed Guevara, calling him a "chickensh*t." Guevara doesn't belong in a ring with MJF because he's better than him and he knows it.

Jericho appeared on the video board. The Pinnacle knows what happens when they don't give the Inner Circle what they want. They can talk it over as they're walking home. The camera panned over to the Pinnacle smashing the Inner circle's limo with sledgehammers and Floyd. Santana slashed the tires and Ortiz spray-painted the side. Hager appeared with a forklift, ramming through the side of the limo and lifting it up. Guevara said he'd fight MJF any day of the week.

**********

Darby Allin answered Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page's challenge. He said he wouldn't replace Sting next week: he wants a handicap match. He told Sting to stay home. Sting was concerned, but Allin said "I'm not stupid," and he wants to prove to them he can beat them. Sting said Allin's got nothing to prove. Allin told Sting to stay home, and after some hesitation, they bumped fists.

**********

A video played where Evil Uno talked about his relationship with Mr. Brodie Lee. He called him "one of his best friends." Uno would be thrilled to see any Dark Order member win the TNT Championship, but he selfishly wants it for himself. He wants to make Brodie Lee proud. Miro's going to find out just how devious Uno can be.

**********

TNT Championship: Miro (c) defeated Evil Uno (w/ Dark Order)

This was genius.

Miro overpowered Uno right away. He laid in body shots until Uno came back with knife-edged chops. Miro shrugged them off, but was sent to the floor, selling frustration. He dragged Uno to the floor, but Uno avoided a right hand as Miro punched the ring post. A cannonball senton followed.

Back in the ring, Miro cut Uno off with a back suplex, beating him down throughout a commercial. Once back, a running shoulder block from Miro sent Uno to the floor. Stu Grayson and Alan Angels ran out to fire Uno up, and Uno barely made it back in the ring at the nine count.

Miro rolled to the floor and sent Grayson over the barricade before pursuing Angels. Uno came back with a jawbreaker before laying in forearms. A running hurricanrana took down Miro, as did a Brodie Lee-esque big boot. Uno climed to the top rope and landed a senton atomico, but Miro kicked out at one.

-1 and the rest of the Dark Order ran out to cheer on Uno. Uno stomped on Miro's hands and landed another forearm, but Miro caught a crossbody and rolled Uno up for two. Miro was sent into the turnbuckle on the kickout, and Uno covered for a good near fall.

Uno called for the Brodie Lee discus lariat, but Miro shrugged it off and leveled Uno with a lariat of his own. Miro locked on Game Over, forcing Uno to tap.

**********

An Andrade El Idolo video package aired. It was mostly just him putting on a suit. His name was captioned with "Face of Latinos." Next week, he will sit down with Jim Ross.

**********

Kenny Omega & Don Callis interview

Callis called Jungle Boy a one-hit wonder for outlasting 20 men in the Casino Battle Royale. Omega's not going to act like Jungle Boy is some incredible challenger for the title, but he can't bring himself to say anything disparaging about him, because he sees a little bit of Omega in himself. One day, Jungle Boy might be champion, but there's something Jungle Boy is missing.

Omega asked what Jungle Boy is missing, and Callis said he didn't have the guts. Jungle Boy's music played, and he came out. Omega said he's surprised because he's never known Jungle Boy to be a promo guy. He knows Jungle Boy has nothing to say, because he doesn't have the guts. He asked Callis if anyone was better on the mic than him, and Callis said no. He gave Jungle Boy five seconds to speak.

Jungle Boy simply said "you talk way too much." Omega tried to cheap shot Jungle Boy with the microphone, but Jungle Boy avoided it. Omega raked Jungle Boy's eyes. Jungle Boy fought out and tried to lock Omega in the Snare Trap, but the Young Bucks ran out for the save.

**********

Jade Cargill and Mark Sterling cut a promo. Sterling said that Cargill's revenue was up by 43%. They've gotten rid of the hangers-on and the bamboozlers. Cargill's got a family to feed, and they're ensuring she can feed them. Cargill said they should capitalize on her catchphrase, and then she said it: "I'm that bitch."

**********

Scorpio Sky said he and Ethan Page gave Allin an opportunity, but he didn't take it. This is the dumbest decision Allin's ever made. Page said that actions have consequences. They've already done all these things to Allin – what's he going to do when they pin him in the middle of the ring? It's only up from here for the men of the year.

**********

Lance Archer (w/ Jake Roberts) defeated Chandler Hopkins

Archer attacked before the bell and cut off a quick springboard with a chokeslam. He hit Blackout for the squash victory.

**********

The Wingmen spoke. Nemeth said Orange Cassidy is poorly dressed, so they invited him to for a makeover. Either they can re-make his wardrobe, or Cezar Bononi can re-arrange his face.

**********

Nyla Rose (w/ Vickie Guerrero) defeated Leyla Hirsch

Rose attacked before the bell and hit a body slam. Hirsch surprised Rose with a cross armbreaker, forcing Rose to hit the ropes. She laid in repeated forearms and a shotgun dropkick, sending rose to the floor, but Rose intercepted the tope and sent Hirsch into the ring frame.

They brawled on the floor, with Hirsch avoiding a right hand as Rose punched the ring post (just like in the Miro match). Hirsch went for an armbar on the floor, but Rose fought out and sent Hirsch into the barricade. A powerslam from Rose got two ahead of the break.

Back from break, Hirsch landed a release German suplex and a Shining Wizard. She followed it up with a step-up moonsault, but Rose grabbed the ropes on the cover. Hirsch went for the cross armbreaker, but Rose powered out with a one-arm powerbomb.

Rose draped Hirsch over the top rope, but took too long to follow up. They fought up top, but Rose sent Hirsch to the mat. Hirsch popped up and went for a top-rope Frankensteiner, but Rose caught it and landed an avalanche Beast Bomb for the win.

– Britt Baker (joined by Rebel) was interviewed. She addressed Rose, saying she was mad about Rose interrupting her celebration. She admonished Rose for making fun of Hirsch's height. Baker's already the best champ in company history, but Rose has nothing. She's just another "jealous bitch in the back." This title makes Nyla Rose, but Baker makes the title, just like she makes the division. "Yours truly, Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D."

**********

Next week's Dynamite lineup:

Matt Jackson & The Good Brothers vs. Eddie Kingston, Penta El Zero Miedo, & Frankie Kazarian
Andrade El Idolo sits down with Jim Ross
Orange Cassidy vs. Cezar Bononi
2-on-1 Handicap Match: Scorpio Sky & Ethan Page vs. Darby Allin
MMA Rules Cage Fight: Jake Hager vs. Wardlow
Cody Rhodes & Brock Anderson vs. QT Marshall & Aaron Solow

For July 26:

AEW World Championship: Kenny Omega (c) vs. Jungle Boy

**********

Hangman Page & Preston "10" Vance defeated Team Taz (Brian Cage & Powerhouse Hobbs) (w/ Ricky Starks & HOOK)

Cage and Page started off, with Cage repeatedly throwing shoulders into Page's midsection. Page turned it around, beating Cage down in the corner. Both men had each other scouted, avoiding big moves, until Page hit a running shooting star press. Cage came back with a hip toss backbreaker.

10 made a blind tag and laid in strikes on Cage. He sent Cage into the corner and landed a running pump kick, but Hobbs cut him off with a kick, allowing Team Taz to take control. An assisted powerbomb got two as Hobbs tagged in. 10 got a brief flurry of offense but was cut off with a kitchen sink knee lift into the commercial.

Once back, 10 landed on his feet on an F-5 attempt and took down Cage with a pump kick. Hobbs made a blind tag, but 10 took him out with another pump kick, allowing him to reach Page for the hot tag. Hobbs shrugged off a lariat and a powerslam. Page went for a plancha on Cage, Cage caught him, but Page countered into a hurricanrana.

Back in the ring, a moonsault press from Page to Hobbs got two. He went for the Buckshot Lariat, but Hobbs cut him off with a running crossbody before 10 broke up the pin. A tijeras sent 10 into the ropes, where Cage hit a tiger feint kick, but Cage took him out with his springboard clothesline.

10 tagged in and hit a spinebuster on Hobbs. Hobbs forced 10 into the corner, allowing for a Cage tag. Cage landed a flurry of offense on 10 followed by a High Low with Hobbs, but 10 kicked out at two.

HOOK distracted the official and Starks threw Cage the belt, but Cage tossed it aside. Starks slapped Cage, and Cage pursued him to the back. 10 tried to take advantage, but Hobbs hit a spinebuster, with Page breaking up the pin at the last second. Hobbs sent Page to the floor, but 10 hit a ripcord cutter and Page hit the Buckshot Lariat, allowing 10 to pin Hobbs for the win.

– -1 and the rest of the Dark Order came out to celebrate to end the show.

They should have just taped all the spinning wheels shows and given everyone a vacation because it was much tighter and they can make the crowd sound hyped for segments designed to kill time until the NBA is done for the season.

Good matches all around tonight with my highlights being the wheelbarrow victory roll destroyer, Miro waving at a child while crushing his dreams, and Leyla Hirsch dominating Nyla for almost the whole match after blitzing her to start.

Dynathoughts

Pinnacle get out of a limo. That's it, that's the cold open.

1) Christian vs Angelico. Prepared for this to be a good technical match with a result I don't like. Angelico is so cool. The grapplefuck armdrag near the start was gorgeous. If you were going to build a Los Ingobernables de AEW, Angelico would be a great choice. Angelico at one point basically using his junk to do an armbar. Christian is, I should stress, also fine in this match. He's mostly keeping up with Angelico and doesn't look lost or anything. He just doesn't look special next to him. Christian needs peeps. If he's going to feud with the Hardy Family Office (and I'm absolutely fine with that) give him a couple of guys as back up. Full credit to Christian in this match, he's wrestling well and has no problem with Angelico looking like a threat. Christian wins, inevitable. but this was a super decent opening match. Continues the feud and gives TH2 something to do. Give these guys a feud!

Post match Jungle Boy comes out. This is a good face for Christian to be aligned with.

Some beefy stuff coming up tonight. And, oh god, a Cody segment

Too long a pause on the "Brock" there, Toney. Cody comes out to cut a Cody promo, bringing Baby Arn with him. Which is fine, but this zombie feud has no end in sight. Cody, you don't understand baseball well enough for this metaphor to work. QT's "I pinned you all by myself" thing could come back to bite him in a fun way. Him saying "Enough with these vanity projects" is a bit ironic. Oh god, not a strap match. The staging of this of Marshall actually coming out here alone doesn't really make him look like the heel if I'm being honest.

2) Young Bucks and Brandon Cutler vs Penta, PAC, and Eddie Kingston. PAC and Penta are so loving cool. And Eddie is every kind of awesome. The Goblin Glare in picture-in-picture was fantastic. God, the Bucks do the scumbag thing beautifully. Cutler also plays his role as a feeb very well. He should have come out with the BTE title. Fun pinballing of Matt Jackson to start. Then we get Punished Brandon. Everything after this is just as wild as you'd hope it would be. Brandon is an amazing damage sponge, the Bucks are absolute scumbags, miscommunication is plaguing Kingston and pals, but the numbers game isn't working for the Bucks. The Kingston hero spot where he is just suplexing everyone was gorgeous. Hahahaha, the motif of the Bucks just keeping injuring Cutler is very funny. The PAC / Kingston dynamic is very nice. They're on the same side, in the same ring but while they're both working smoothly with Penta they're staying away from each other. it's really interesting. Excalibur, I got the Don Callis / Virus line even if nobody else did. And then FINALLY we get Kingston / PAC synchronisation. Bucks tag Cutler in... basically to eat the pin.. OK, sure. This was a really good fun nonsense match.

Good Brothers come out for the post match beatdown, and Kaz vigilantes his way to the ring. I REALLY like the Kaz "Elite hunter" thing. Are we setting up an 8 man here? Because I would really like that.

Kenny package "Directed by Michael Kurosawa". This is a great propaganda video. Very nicely done.

Pinnacle segment, group promo style. "I don't have a family, so I don't give a SHHHHHIT!". Spears looks good here and I really want the Spears / Sammy match. gently caress it, let's get a Dynamite where every match is a Pinnacle / Circle match. Wardlow was drat good here. MJF denying Jericho's match request is great. As is the MENTION of Sammy drowning out MJF.

And the Jericho response. We're about to see Chekov's limo. Just classic wrestling logic. Nicely done. I love Santana avoiding smashing the windows by just going "gently caress it, get the tires". HAGER IS FORKLIFT CERTIFIED.

Dobby has just drunk his sleepytime tea and wants a handicap match. OK, sure thing. Actually after that I really enjoy the dynamic here. Segment goes on too long but it was good and interesting.

Great Evil Uno package (it's the one from the Road To).

3) Miro vs Evil Uno. God, this show is rattling along at a hell of a pace. We're at the TNT Title Factory already? Uno looks like a gunfighter on his last bullet. Miro looks like an oncoming storm. Been looking forward to this one. Miro obviously takes offense early on, with a few Uno shots just bouncing off. Uno does a great job of being a lionheart here. Obviously Miro is bigger and stronger and faster, but Uno is hard to kill. The problem is that Miro treats something being hard to kill as a fun challenge. The whole ad break is spent just turning Uno into a soup-like homogenate. Uno gets back in the ring and gets back up... at which point Miro just goes for Stu on the floor because he's fighting the whole Dark order. Miro has a touch of the Ishii selling. He doesn't show pain, but he's rocked and buffeted by damage. Uno looks credible. He's giving Miro unexpected problems and there's a couple of very nicely done near pins. And him getting encouragement from -1 is beautiful. And he throws the discus lariat and... nothing. It doesn't work. And after that the end is inevitable. Very VERY well executed match.

Post match Miro surrounded by the Dark Order is a beautiful visual. Nice.

Andrade package. Feels like you could have started him off with this. OK, he's putting a jacket and gloves on. So we know he can wear clothes. This isn't really a package for him so much as a glove ad.

Good Callis / Omega promo but I will NOT take this slight to Baltimora. Woody Boogie was a banger. Jungle Boy comes out. Kenny platforms him pretty well. "You talk way too much". That's a gift for Maffew. Perfectly fine segment and they accentuate Jungle Boy's positives.

Mark Sterling and Jade segment. Jade has trademarked I'm That Bitch. OK.

Good Sky and Page promo.

4) Lance Archer vs Chandler Hopkins. Hey, you want to see a dead body? Well... Jake's right here. This is a hard fought 30 minute technical masterpiece where I can't even finish this sentence Lance just kills this poor dude.

The Wingmen get promo time!

5) Nyla Rose vs Leyla Hirsch. Vickie puts a stool down for Leyla. Leyla does the needful and yeets it at her. This is Tall vs Small violence and I'm here for it. These two work great together. Some nice brawling and grappling on the ground, we get the Armbar Lift spot I always like. Some nice and unexpectedly agile stuff here. Hirsch does these rope spots where she monkeys her way to the top rope and they all look great. And she's finally got a working game plan against Nyla. For a nothing match that's just there to raise Nyla's profile this is really pretty good. Oh, and then we get a knee drop attempt. I love this because they use it sparingly. Oh wow, reversed huricanrana into an avalanche beast bomb was great (although the landing was awkward). Nyla wins, both looked good.

Britt interviewed in a stairway. I liked the "You looked pretty good flipping those birders" bit, and the "bless her heart, I would never".

Wow, this show has been stuffed.

6) Hangman and 10 vs Cage and Hobbs. A fast and beefy match. Not the nest on the card (third or fourth best depending on how much you liked Christian / Angelico) but everyone got to do some fun stuff. Hangman looks like a champ in waiting, but he also looks like someone who has been given 14 minutes and an ad break for a main event. Oh the FIT on Ricky Starks in that amethyst suit. Jesus. As we near the end of the hour this one gets some real sauce on it. Hangman has some great hero spots, Hobbs looks monstrous, and as always that running cross body looks loving amazing. Brian Cage is a steroid golem who can do a 619 and that's astounding. Loved the Hobbs / Cage slice and dice on 10. Loved even more 10 kicking out. 10 and Page are a superb team. The Cage nobility spot was nice. Very good match with the right result.

This was a very good show, and it being very good reveals an unexpected problem. We had two slightly sucky Dynamites in a row. And they were live and had crowds. Now we have one that's a real return to form. And it's taped and done without an audience. This gives me minor worries for when the show is properly back on the road.

WWE: There's simply nothing that can be done with this man, he has no appeal or quality that could be in any way made use of in a wrestling show. It's tough, but that's just the way things are.

Well, it had to happen one day, but it’s still hard to understand and accept even now that we’re here. Not sure how we can move on with our lives after such a fundamental paradigm shift. I’m sure each and every single one of us has to reconsider their values and beliefs now.

Scoopsgal was wrong. Dynamite was a whole lot better than ok
