I recognized the name, Zeal and Ardor used it in music, along with recordings of Crowley. I have a copy of the chemical wedding around here somewhere, it was pretty bad, but not off point. I don't know if he was really a British spy using the image of a pretentious little trust fund kid as a cover, but that persona really sticks in my mind. He was someone who didn't terribly value life over whatever the hell it was he was after. Some kind of power that money doesn't buy outright I'd imagine. Something that seems to be a theme in the occult is people ignoring their better judgment in pursuit of what they find is absolutely valueless in the end. Mr. Solomon was arguably worse than his dishonest pupil in that he knew better, but was blinded by the opportunity presented him by her desire. Clearly he paid a high price. There are occultists who aren't completely destroyed by their experiences, I'd love to know if there was ever a time that Manly Hall experienced a Sam Rami-esque "drag me to hell" moment, but I doubt it. When I went to see Tool's Fear Inoculum tour at the end of 2019, they had an intermission that gave Danny Carrey a chance to do his three armed solo drummer act, with a large hypnotic spiral on the screen. The only lyrics were "sleep, sleep, sleep".
