the 8 month window for boosters is kind of poo poo. the israeli data shows around 8 months you are somewhere between 16-42% efficacy against delta with the mRNA vaccines. that's... not good. max titers / eric crackl-ping after 6 months might be the way to go. let's see how strict pharmacies, etc. get about gatekeeping the official boosters

the national parks have been pretty darn competent and good throughout the pandemic: https://edition.cnn.com/travel/arti...17T01%3A59%3A29quote:(CNN) — If you want to visit one of America's national parks, there's an essential item you must bring: face masks. i was in one over the weekend and the visitor center building was great--everyone masked, lots of signs warning to wear mask. any areas that sold food were closed and all the tables had big signs saying "No eating or drinking indoors". genuinely competent and good precautions being taken!

McNugget Buddy posted:Are they afraid people are going to get COVID from the deer, or that people are going to give COVID to the deer? nah it's just masks for the indoor parts of national parks, like the visitor centers with bathrooms, water fountains, etc. in the park it's up to you if you want to wear a mask--I might wear one if I were at yellowstone and walking some of those super packed hallway like trails around the geysers. but out on most trails it's a lot easier to distance and a lot more ventilated

Fluffy Bunnies posted:I think I miss some of my favorite garbage foods from eating out vs the actual eating out "experience". I just can't nail some of the flavors. Like yeah, I can make stirfry but it doesn't taste the same as Miyabi's and I'm not sure what I'm missing. when in doubt, double the amount of butter and cream in a recipe. do not use any 'low fat' ingredient--full fat cream, butter, milk, etc. only. be generous with salt and pepper. add a little bit of garlic powder with seasoning too. edit: for stir fry it's harder because your kitchen probably doesn't have a rocket hot wok that can get nice charred flavors without filling your place with smoke. but make sure to add some umami to your stir fry, like some fish sauce / mushroom powder / etc.

Forseti posted:I have no idea what their code looks like, but it's not going to scan every row with an index there* if it's written in a way that can use the index (which yours is). Even if it did, 100k rows should be a joke to a modern server, especially with caches. if things are slowing down only for people on slow computers then it's not a problem on the DB or server side. i've noticed android's chrome browser freaking _hates_ if you open the list of pages in a long thread. like it shoots every core of your phone up to 100% use and grinds the whole OS down to a halt until you can force close the application. it's probably something very very dumb in the client side JS that scales badly with the number of pages. perhaps it's calculating 7000 individual hrefs for each "jump to page" link with all kinds of string concatenations, etc. and populating them all inside a drop down instead of just figuring it out when you select one
