a while. it's been a while since I last posted in a SA Magic thread. let's leave it at that.

I recently got back into the game, which seems like a good excuse to stream, ~~so I can actually interact with other people~~ because I've been feeling a bit cooped up recently.

I'll be streaming some standard brewing / MID drafts if you're interested in that stuff, or even if you simply want to yell at a stranger for not being a particularly powerful wizard. Maybe reminisce about how much you miss type 1.5, or how once you earned a "pro point" at a "GP," or how Shandalar remains the best piece of M:tG software ever created.

For reference, I'll be testing out lists with an Esika's Chariot + Teleportation Circle + Glorious Protector core wrapped in either an Abzan or Bant shell, because I only like playing Yorion decks when nobody else is.

1. Pretty sure you get a 1/1 frog with the same name as jadar, so you can only keep one.

Isnt there (theros?) commander card thats similar to that spirit, I think it gains counters different way, but the gain flying and then indestructible mechanic is almost the same.

The only Secret Lair cards that are on Arena themselves (I believe) are the Godzilla lands, which were a reward for buying into the first Arena Open Day 1 qualifier tournament.

If you are bored of solved standard here's a tweaked version of standard, and you get a new version every 4-6 weeks. I hate the historic changes, but its probably going to be pretty successful.

Regardless it is dumb very dumb

I pretty much only play historic and think the changes are very stupid for historic. Of the changed cards the only 3 that I've see get played are epiphany, haven, and aspirant. The haven change is a pretty big change, but its still going to get played because its still the best man land in tribal decks and mono color decks that can use a snow mana base. And right now I don't know if aspirant is going to get played, I'd have to look and see if a different two drop human can fit the curve, but that's a really big nerf. Epiphany probably still sees play because you still take the extra turn. Making goldspan worse wont let it see play in historic, and I've never seen it cast outside of brawl in historic.

The cards that got buffs aren't strong enough for the historic meta as it is, and this wont change that.

If you're wondering if you play them in Modern look at Shinka and Shizo seeing play in RB Lurrus/Rag/Kroxa decks. So if these channel effects are better than the RT: First Strike, or BT: Fear.
Minamo and Eiganjo also see fringe play in moden. Minamo in the "U + Boil" manabases, which haven't really been a thing since Sactuary was banned and being boilproof stopped mattering.
Mono white has never been good so Eiganjo was never more than a gimmick.
IMO the channel effect is there to encourage you to play multiples. SO in standard/Historic you play at least 2 if you play any at all.

What was the black one then?

And yeah card is dope. Can see two going into decks easily, but not sure about more.
