I have an unhealthy obsession with motorcycles.

Proof
wait wait wait wait... you don't have a turntable? Perfect. Maybe next year Santa will be extra kind.
I just sort of assumed, I guess.
Glad you like it though. The records were really more for the novelty of it anyway.

The Bull and Bear was Richmond's oldest private club. It is now gone and that matchbook is extra rare since I stole all of them and burned them.

I'm glad you founds the dicks so quickly, but there's also boobs in the Heavy Metal comic.

The chain link is just one of probably a hundred that I took a cutoff wheel to before realizing that I just had a really lovely chainpress. They make cool keychains and also good plumbobs. Also it brought the package to exactly 20lbs so it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Sorry I had to open the Leatherman to make it fit in the box.

I have no more useful information about the Ballantine's lighter other than it's old as gently caress and also a lighter so that's two flammable items I mailed. Suck it USPS.

I hope you like the beers. I tried to pick an assortment of VA's finest. But we have a fuckload of awesome breweries and I didn't even scratch the surface of a Who's Who of VA beers, so I pivoted to just giving you a good curated variety. If you're bored you can pin all the breweries on google maps and see if you can calculate a road trip to hit them all in the shortest distance.

I fuckin love beers (especially stouts so some of those look extra bitchin') and also I can totally see why you would assume I have a turntable based on my post history. I actually have records on my shelf that I got from concerts to support the bands so I suppose I probably should actually get one. In any case, everything was amazing - thank you so much.

As for the matchbook, I have one from a bar I loved that closed here so it's going next to that one.

Edit: I guess two matchbooks on my desk makes me a matchbook collector now

Yep, I got my bottle of whiskey today! Excited to try that one on NYE!

I also had another package turn up, from the land of the USA. With the worlds most awesome packaging!

Isaac helped with inspecting the goods

Apparently the smell of freedom made him fall over

Opened it up and was greeted with a note!

Followed by a Tee Shirt. I have NFI what an outback steakhouse is, but i fully intend to be photographed wearing this in the middle of nowhere cooking steak on a fire and posting it in the future!

Stickers! Matchbox Cars! Emergency 10mm socket!

The offroading sticker is getting stuck on my mates short wheel base pajero, and the Land Crutha one is going on my mates prado (since it says landcruiser on the back door)

And then the final piece- A hand made, certified, de-pinning tool for toyota looms. The effort that went into that is amazing!

Merry Christmas Krakkles! The missus and I had a great time opening your gift- Dont worry bout the lateness, I got nailed by a covid isolation period RIGHT when i was trying to get my gift organised so all i've been able to do is drop ship something, now I'm racing against the clock to get the rest of it sorted and on its way! The release tool is an inspired creation. We should have a thread where we either make variants of required Special Tools, or post our hacks to circumventing them.

Just in case you aren't kidding: Outback Steakhouse is an "Australian themed" steakhouse chain. And the quotations are doing some extremely heavy lifting here.

Think: the Foster's of OZ-themed restaurants. Didn't we have an OZ goon who wrote lyrically about his experience at an Outback while visiting the US?

ONLY ONE CHARITY SHALL PREVAIL!

Resource Assistance for Youth, Inc. is a local winnipeg charity that has operated for over 25 years. Their mission is to "provide youth with what they need, on their terms, to better their lives." They are essentially a 'one stop shop' operation and have been able to provide a variety of services. They have a key focus on the social determinants of health (from the WHO) and from as best as I can tell they appear to be genuinely good people with a research based approach to how they run their operation.

I could try to condense this down even further, but this infographic from a 2015 report by another youth oriented charity that has since been closed, shows that things aren't always sweet and rosy up north.

Further to that, a 2021 report released by Ray shows the situation has gotten even more dire since the pandemic started, with many challenges due to social distancing and restrictions. It goes beyond the immediate though of reduced capacities at shelters due to the space required to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

So with that, it's the unfortunate reality that the problem is worse and resources are stretched thinner than ever due to the ongoing pandemic. RaY is about as down to earth and reasonable in their approach to helping those in need and I believe they would be a worthy charity to support.

Ah poo poo, I don't know how I missed this. Here's a quick blurb but I will accept my sixxer.

IRCOM is a one of a kind place; a home to hundreds of immigrants and refugees from across the globe, who are secured with long-term, affordable, and safe housing, together with holistic, wrap around programs and services for parents and children alike.

IRCOM is the “receiving family” for those who have no one in Canada to receive them; a home where each person finds belonging and dignity, all of which is essential so they can meaningful integrate into their new community.

IRCOM is an anti racist, pro BIPOC organization that operate two apartment buildings, with suites big enough for large families. With facilities on site and close by they offer many different types of programs to help newcomers: Workshops to help people integrate with the wider community. Counselling and individually focused assistance. Childcare for parents who attend classes along with parenting programs and home visits. After school programs, community gardening, financial literacy and support (such as fund matched savings accounts), employment assistance and training, and so much more.

In the before times I volunteered with the EAL program, with a focus on building skills to help people navigate everyday life (ie grocery shopping or navigating the transit system). They offer childcare, translation and accessibility assistance so people who would otherwise be shut out can access language training. Along with reading, writing and conversational practice they have group social outings as well.

Arriving to a new country as a newcomer is difficult at the best of times, thankfully organizations like IRCOM are there to offer assistance to help with the transition.

I PARTICIPATED IN AI:SS 2021 AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS SPAM

Twas the day of delivery, when all through the house
A package from far, excitement did rouse.

The box sprang open to reveal its treasure
Oh my, oh my, what a pleasure!

Beyond just the material bounty contained within
This lovely note with a message, lets begin!

Indeed as stated this SPAM filled box made it
No apologies needed, my tastebuds went apeshit

Fresh from the source, wild Spalmon!
Unbelievably good, no time to examine

Dropping the Rhyming now, it's a bit exhausting
Putting my feet up, eating, and seeing what my sanity is costing

A meal well eaten, and a thirst unquenched
Your nut cream arrived, my cravings drenched

And last but not least, the cream of the crop
This wild salmon queso has made my tongue pop.

As a person without a rhyming bone in my body, that was *maximum* effort. The gift is absolutely awesome, thank you! The salmon quesadilla is indeed :discourse:, heck even just eating the salmon out of the packaging is great. The Alaskan ULU is sharp as heck and I'm loving it after the inaugural cuts of the quesadilla. And not one but TWO salmon fillets, you are a God among men.

The 'SPAM' literally got a good laugh out of me, the coffee is pretty tasty and your packaging survived without issue, it was nicely vacuumed still upon arrival. The actual cheese spam, man it brings back memories of camping as a kid with my family as we traveled across western Canada, although we were never fancy enough to get the stuff with CHEESE in it! Nothing but the best of No-Name mystery meat in a can for us on those trips, haha. The stickers will find suitable homes in short order as well.

You have my heartfelt thanks (and :eyepop: on the shipping), and my wife asks if you can be my Santa again next year.

The cookies are already gone but their aroma lingers. They were absolutely delicious.

The dogs are greatly enjoying the toy. It's impossible to get them to stay still enough for a picture.

There's just so much.

Did it show the shipping amount on the package? That’s just the cost of living here - spalmon is cheap, shipping isn’t.

As far as the actual spam goes, we were in Hawaii last month (that coffee was purchased on the estate) and I went looking for some ‘Spam Snacks’ that they sell on the islands. I couldn’t find any but ‘SPAM with CHEESE’ struck me as a suitable replacement.

A Revell Porche 914 kit. I have definitely given these a look or two at the local hobby shop. I think it'll be the next one up on the build list now. It'll make me pine for a project del Sol all the more, but that's part of the AI life.

A lock picking kit and some practice locks, which will surely come in handy. If for no other reason than to scare my co-workers.

Some Malört, and drat, that is some strong drink. It should make a good test of some friendships though.

Candy jazz cigarettes. A welcome reprieve from the liquor's intensity.

$4 or so at everybody's favorite tool store. I'll probably put it toward an angle grinder.

A machining project, which is A+ work if you ask me. Just need to be careful so it doesn't land on my toes.

An OLFA hobby knife, which blows my X-Acto Knife out of the water and poses a much smaller stabbing risk. I'll dink around with the saw blades for sure.

And a Matchbox GTI! I love it. Thank you very much, you kind soul.
