NFTs sound dumb but have you also considered that they look like poo poo?
They could be unique pieces of beautiful art, made and sold by the actual artist.

But nope, they're the product of culturally void techbros who want an instant return for no effort, so lovely procedurally generated cartoon monkey JPEGs it is!

Yesterday, the hashtag #ScumMedia was trending on Twitter - it's not, as you'd think, aimed at the awfulness of British newspapers in general, but rather a Trumpish attempt to rouse gammons into unthinking anger against any UK media outlet seen as insufficiently pro-Brexit, pro-Tory and/or pro-Boris Johnson. Since the government is so appalling that even the Heil and Express are criticising it, the very people who make up their target market were attacking them. Eat each other, you fucks.

I bring it up because the above kind of bootlicking made up 95% of the comments with the hashtag. "Leave Boris alone!" "Is banging on about something trivial that happened a year ago the only ammo the pathetic lefties in the media have?" "Bring back hanging!" (Okay, I didn't see that last one, but you know it's an underlying belief.)

Truss has that Andrea Leadsom air of oblivious stupidity about her, so even though she's already openly positioning herself for a run I'd guess she'll be outmanoeuvred by someone smarter (ie, anyone with a higher IQ than a cardboard box).

Didn't a BBC employee here say that they have access to a secret internal version of the iPlayer that basically has access to every single thing ever broadcast on BBC television and were watching Blackadder and Ghostwatch and whatever the gently caress from the 70s at will? Monetise access to that archive.
The BBC could save a lot of money just by not making any new stuff at all. :haw: Have an iPlayer Unlimited sub to get access to the complete archives, and all the people who complain that "telly's rubbish these days, not like it used to be" can pony up for infinite You Have Been Watching... sitcoms or start EastEnders from scratch.

Actually, all those 70s and 80s thrillers that were either released on now out-of-print (and hence silly eBay money) DVDs like Bird Of Prey or The Nightmare Man, or were never put on DVD at all like The Assassination Run, would likely find a market amongst the Olds too. [Looks around shiftily] iPlayer Unlimited would probably come with a default Bergerac 24/7 channel.

Must suck to be English and only have terrible political parties to vote for.
I was left pretty :stare: a while ago after doing one of those blind "which policies do you most agree with" tests, and ending up closest to second the SNP, and first Sinn Fein. I guess the Gaelic surname has deeper roots than I realised. (hosed off that it doesn't get me an Irish passport, though.) But since I live in Bournemouth, I'm doomed to be represented by a particularly lovely little Tory who was Owen Paterson's acolyte.

I successfully managed to avoid hearing almost everything Trump said during his term by living in Europe (so not having any English-language news) for the better part of two years, and then not having a TV when I came back. Did not miss his stupid, whiny voice in the slightest. Added bonus was not hearing anything Theresa May said as PM either.

Funny, I was in Gran Canaria two weeks back where my phone automatically switched to 5G, yet I didn't die and turn into Bill Gates' zombie slave. Must be a Microsoft bug in the chip.

Edit: call 105 to report damage to power lines. Or maybe 5G towers.

The entire concept of the whips would probably collapse if MPs routinely recorded all their "quick words in private".

Whip: A quick word in private, if we may?
MP: Okay. [Muttered] Hey Siri, start voice recording.
Whip: What was that?
MP: Nothing. [Whistles]

People who've had Omicron- how long did it take until you felt better? Been about 12 days and I still feel a bit rubbish in the evenings (tired, lethargic, feel a bit of weakness in my limbs, and otherwise just have some sniffles).
I had what in hindsight was probably Omicron (even after a negative rapid test) and felt like absolute crap for about two weeks, and ill enough to be unable to work for another week afterwards.

loving hilarious watching Labour slowly drift into a shitpile in the polls again.

The labour right's lack of policies is absolutely intentional. They have never wanted to be in charge except by nature of the country having no expectations and giving them a go because the tories are shockingly terrible.

For a while now I've been privately using a term of Fidel Castro's to describe the Labour Right: 'gusanos', worms. Think it's time I started doing so publicly.

By expanding the general belly-crawling theme to include snakes, it covers the manipulative behind-the-scenes shitheads like Mandelson as well.

Even the news on Greatest Hits Radio while I was picking my son up from school had had enough and pointed out that breaches of lockdown were punishable by fixed penalty notices rather than criminal investigation, so the Met were taking the piss by opening one up at this exact convenient moment. They even interviewed a lawyer who gave the translated legalese of "this is all bullshit".

Anyone know a good site to find out more about Portugal's (newly outright majority, not just coalition) Socialist government? Most places pretty much just say "Huh, Portugal is run by socialists, and they seem to be doing okay. How 'bout that?" Imagine living in a country where "socialist" isn't used as a spittle-flecked insult. Must be nice.

(The country's far-right party also gained seats, and their name translates as "Enough!" Gee, they sound an amiable, tolerant lot...)
