#378 is great too, this is the one where they cover three depositions and one of them is the guy who's being deposed as the corporate representative of Free Speech Systems LLC, but he doesn't seem to understand what this means at all. Doesn't understand what he's meant to do there.

A little bit of Alex goes a long way, so I'm using a couple of reddit threads to selectively pick from peoples' "Best Of" lists.

Right now it's #404, Alex Goes to CPAC, and it's incredible to hear him bellowing onstage (and from offstage while other people are speaking), just progressively drunker and drunker.

"We're having a good time tonight in defiance of their tyranny, it's amazing"

I used to listen to Art Bell, what seems like half a lifetime ago. I used to read the crazy poo poo on Jeff Rense’s website. And some years ago I used to watch Alex Jones clips.

I did all these things not because I was a conspiracy theory nut, but because I thought they were funny. I thought it was sad that there were obviously some people out there who believed in these things, but those people were the fringe, I thought. And the types of stuff on those sites and shows used to just make me howl with laughter.

Jones rants used to make me laugh uncontrollably at times, and while to an extent some of the older ones still do, the whole conspiracy theory thing became a lot less funny when it reached the point where any place you go in this country, you’re around people who believe in at least one of them.

In my home state today you can’t throw a rock without hitting a QAnon believer and then hitting two more on the ricochets. The amount of irreparable harm that has been done by people like Jones is loving sad.

That’s why I spent most of last night listening to all of the Formulaic Objections episodes. It’s soothing to listen to Jones and his producers squirm! And to know that they will (hopefully) be ruined by all this.

Did the plaintiff attorneys ask for some documentation from Jones, and he just refused to give it up? I am remembering that right? I’m looking up reasons for the rarely-seen default judgement and most of what I’m seeing just says he “stopped participating” in the legal process, it doesn’t go into any more detail that that.

That's pretty much it, yes. There's an episode where the attorney comes on to explain it in more detail, I'll look up which one it is (which would also be a useful one for the best-of list OP was planning for the OP).

Does anyone know episodes where the Knowledge Fight podcast discusses Alex Jones discussing Knowledge Fight?

I'm assuming he has, because the intro song has him saying the title... unless that's spliced together from two different clips.

Oh, wow! I assumed an egomaniac like Jones wouldn’t be able to resist slamming a show that has slammed him for years.

Knowledge Fight #36 which is titled "June 18, 2015" is an interesting one.

This aired May 30th 2017, and in this one Dan talks about how different Alex is in 2017 compared to the way he used to be. He went back and listened to old shows, trying to find the point where Alex really lost it. He'd been a nutter for years of course, but Dan was looking for the moment when he really pivoted into his more extremist persona.

Dan went back to June 16th, 2015, when he says Alex has no knowledge about Trump, doesn't talk about Trump. This day was the day Trump came down the Big, Beautiful escalator and announced his campaign, after talking about how dirty foreigners rapists were being let into the country and it's high time that was stopped.

The next day was the Charleston Church Massacre, and on his next show, Alex began his precipitous slide towards his current form.

It also has one of the all-time great Out of Context Drops, right at the beginning.

e: Dan says later in the episode that this seems to have been the moment Alex decided that he was the one who could, and must, save the world

I’m still not a hundred percent that Daria isn’t Alex’s Russian handler. Back in 2015, Alex was invited to do a spot on RT via Skype. What actually happened was that he ended up being debriefed by Russian intelligence agents who set up the RT spot as a pretense. They grilled him on if he was for real or not and then, because they trained to manipulate narcissists, lay into Alex with praise and basically flip him. Alex describes this all in great detail on his show and is too stupid to realize he got flipped into a Russian asset for free. 2015 is the same year that Daria starts at infowars and the bots start pumping Alex’s numbers.

KF #82 for context

So, yeah, maybe a bit tinfoil hatter of me, but I think Daria was doing as she was trained.

Based on this recommendation I listened to KF#82 last night and oh,
boy, is this one a doozy.

After he claims on-air that he’s been made into a Russian asset, there’s a part where he says things like “Putin is the only leader out there who’s telling the truth” and the only one who’s “consistently coming down on the right side of all the issues” and “Putin is hope”

Putin is hope… holy loving poo poo.

This one should be added to the recommended episodes list IMO, when that list is made.

I think it's both symptom and cause, it's a feedback loop that starts in the 90s with Clinton. With the end of the Cold War taking away the main pantomime villain that both sides had to (pretend to) care about, and with the Southern Strategy showing the GOP that the way to success is to keep their base dumb and angry, they pumped up the Lewinsky and Whitewater cases from something that would have been quietly dropped For The Greater Good (e.g. Iran Contra and about half the poo poo that JFK got up to, both far more heinous than an affair and a bit of mild graft) into MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD talking points. It's those two things that get remembered the most nowadays but they were doing it with loving *everything* (one of those trial balloon moral panics was of course Waco, where Alex Jones got his start and the previously apolitical - or at least equally distrusting of both parties - conspiracist fringe started to be subsumed into the far-right militia movements.

9/11 helped this process along hugely, too, because it let people like Jones play the both-sides shuffle that is still his most powerful move - both claiming that it was an inside job/false flag to keep up the essential lie of the conspiracist, that bad things don't happen randomly and out of my control, they're done by Them and it all makes sense, but also tapping into the oo-rah "Nuke Mecca" zeitgeist to keep people scared of the swarthy hordes waiting just outside the gates.

The Tea Party was of course the establishment's method of tapping into that energy to direct it against Obama and even the slightest hint of progressive policy, but the problem is by that point the people coming into politics are the people who've been kept dumb and angry in the preceding decade or two, and they actually believe this poo poo and stoke it up within the establishment itself, to the point where they were turning against Romney by 2012 and all of a sudden the GOP can't get the toothpaste back in the tube and Trump happens. *Right now* the Federalist weirdos are managing to stay on the back of this particularly angry bull they've unleashed but the energy is already starting to ground in weird places. Jones et. al. are now redundant to them - the last thing they want is people getting even angrier and dumber - and the conspiracist fringe people aren't as interested in what he has to say because Q and all that poo poo is much more fun.

Dismissing Q was what actually killed him off - I think he definitely had the chops in to take over that whole thing, but he saw it as a threat to his empire. In fact I can't help but see his second wave of Sandy Hook stuff in 2018 as an attempt to regain the ground that he had to Pizzagate, as that wound down, and regain his place on top of the midden.

Of course you can *probably* actually date the contagion all the way back to the John Birch Society and other anticommunist mutants, but Whitewater etc is when the conspiracies stopped wearing suits and started wearing cargo shorts.

(:tinfoil: as I finished this post Hypernormalisation started playing on my TV, randomly selected from literally thousands of different things on my playlist :tinfoil:)

There are a lot of great points in this post.

The fall of the Soviet Union and corresponding loss of the Boogeyman that had been used to inspire fear and hatred for decades. I grew up during the cold war and I'm well aware that the possibility of war between the USA and USSR was a very real thing, but what I mean is painting everything they don't like as COMMIE, using this to whip people up into a lather.

That Big Bad had to be replaced by something, and the answer was the Deep State. Which we saw the seeds of in the list of people the Clintons supposedly had murdered, in Whitewater and all that. It evolved over time, aided to a huge degree by the growth of the internet, which eventually allowed nonsense and conspiracy theories to spread at light speed.

9/11 really intensified things, and then with Obama's presidency it really kicked into high gear. Now, the Deep State, in league with radical islamist terrorists and lead by the Kenyan socialist Barack Obama, is going to take all our guns and put us into camps. These Deep Staters are literally going to mass-murder us and destroy the entire world.

And of course as bad as all this was, it was going to get even worse in the future, with the rise of Donald Trump and the slide of the GOP into an autocratic party hell-bent on seizing power through any means.

Yeah... okay, I just watched 609 and it is a total banger.

quote:

Today, Dan and Jordan check back in on how Alex Jones is doing these days. In this installment, Alex is on an emotional rollercoaster that finds him yelling about the devil, targeting another high school student, and being fairly ambivalent about whether or not his listeners should kill their family members who aren't against vaccines.

We've got Alex talking about how he almost did turn evil. About how he loved to smash people's heads in, how he loved strangling people, but he doesn't any more, because he was saved.

He talks about how, your phone? Your Android phone? That's actually the mind of a computer, the mind of an android, that is controlled by "Ol' Scratch" --- SATAN! And is bent on controlling you, and controlling the world.

Lapsing into the metaphorical speech he does SO well, he talks about imagine that he's coming after you, with a hatchet in each hand, he talks about ten-trillion pound gorillas, ninety-seven trillion pound gorillas that shoot rainbows out of their asses.

We learn how all these WHO personnel and others are resigning because we've learned about 6.6 billion shots, special order 666, and other such nefarious plots. We learn he has two family members of his family, that are dying due to the 666 injections. One should be dead in a week, the other in two weeks.

Then, as he is ranting about how "high-level folks" had reached out to him about possibly apologizing, in return for them making him "bigger than you've ever been", he goes into the Ned Beatty monologue from the movie Network, only here it's the globalists who made him this offer, and the Ned Beatty monologue is directed at him.

This prompts what passes for his crew to play some cheesy 90s muzak, in an effort to play him off to break because he's totally out of control.

And all this, before the one hour mark.

Later on, he taps on the desk to emulate the sounds of the hooves of the Pale Horse, with Death riding on him, etc. It is absolutely amazing.

"It's a demon feast, folks"
