Over the last few months my partner and I watched the entirety of Baywatch on Hulu. It's a fascinating show. Season 1 is almost a completely different show from what it would become. My favorite episode is probably when three of the lifeguards f off to Mexico to reenact the plot of Three Amigos. Almost all of the characters are terrible people, with the exception of Newmie and Jason Momoa, who was about a billion times more charismatic than everyone else.

One of the greatest TV show intros of all time. The early seasons, anyway.

Some friends and I watched a ton of episodes on the Baywatch channel of Pluto TV. Bizarre show for sure. Multiple music montages every episode, retelling the Phantom of the Opera story, etc.

Have you watched the Baywatch Nights spin-off? Can probably still be found on YouTube.

Definitely another oddity, especially the second season. Hasselhoff, Baywatch’s police liaison, and Angie Harmon run a detective agency. The second season has them handling paranormal cases since X-Files was popular at the time.

The Baywatch theme is the best part of the show. The piano solo is so sick.

Hell yeah. It gets me amped every time. Then the last few seconds with just the drums and the Baywatch transparent text moving further out. gently caress it, might as well post it.

Just kidding, fair enough. I’ve never seen it/them. I had to check IMDb right now to verify that I haven’t seen anything Gunn’s worked on since Super.

I think I started Movie 43 at some point, but bailed pretty early on.

I just finished binging the series (first watch). I liked it less as it went on but there were always things to enjoy.
Walton Goggins as a young Baby Billy stole the show, even though they tried so hard to make Boyd unlikeable in the final season. Sam Elliot, Jeff Fahey, and Mary Steenburgen were nice additions and I was glad that the ending left both Boyd and Raylan alive. Wynn Duffy, too.

Just started Banshee based on thread mentions and it’s a fun watch so far.

Yeah, using my first generation Chromecast on my 10 year old TV is so much easier than anything else I’ve seen at friends’ homes. Smartphone is the best remote.

Tokyo Vice was good but not great. Some of the acting is really good (Watanabe, Sugata, Kasamatsu) but the main character is really boring and his the whole subplot with the escort girls is just not that interesting. The show is apparently based on real events so they had some constraints with the plot but it's just not a gripping crime drama in the style of Michal Mann. It's more about expats living in Tokyo that occasionally come into contact with criminals.

Pretty much agree with this on the characters and subplot. Maybe they know they’re getting more seasons, because otherwise the beginning and ending seem odd. The very beginning seems odd either way.

Yeah, it really took me out of it. I’ve only watched the first 2 seasons so far, and there were things I really liked about both and things I just found baffling.

Speaking of Mel Gibson movies

I vaguely remember seeing one where he was a horribly disfigured hermit and some kid goes to him for tutoring, and they become friends and then the kid finds old newspaper clippings where the old guy was accused of being a child molester and when the kid confronts him about it the old guy goes How Dare You Ask Me That After I’ve Treated You So Well

😬

I haven’t seen it in a long time, but is that what happens in Man Without A Face? drat.

drat, I just watched V/H/S Viral and don’t think I expected it to be quite that bad. The Parallel Monsters segment at least started off promising then really poo poo the bed for me. What a baffling follow up to V/H/S 2.

I even watched Gorgeous Vortex (cut from the movie) afterward and it seemed like a film student horror perfume ad. Anyone have an idea why that short’s director chose not to make a found footage film for a found footage series?

no clue but bonestorms my fav segment of viral

I like the other things I’ve seen from Benson and Moorehead, but Bonestorm was rough.

I thought the characters were obnoxious, the action repetitive/nonsensical, and the camera work too frantic.

To each their own, though.

I don’t have Shudder so I guess I’m stuck on my attempt to catch up with the franchise for now.

Unfortunately it’s one of the best episodes of Community. I don’t recall there being some outcry to remove it, maybe I’m wrong.

There’s a later episode that’s still up where a character is in actual brownface, instead of “darkblueface”.

Even past that season it still happens. The show tries so hard to be dark and edgy.

Yeah, it’s great. I binged it a few weeks ago. Crazy how the lead actor/writer has done pretty much nothing except the show and the old movie it was based on.
