I haven't done research into it, but I think a lot of more modern discourse around the bombings is impacted by the nuclear fears (not the right word, but cant thing of a better one) that developed in the following decades.

Baconroll posted:Depends on what version they are getting I guess - the export version is only around 155 Miles but 350+ is being quoted for other versions. 350 would be plenty to hit the bridge from well behind the frontline. Given that the export version is literally made for situations like this, probably the export version.

Exterior enemies have a habit of making a divided population unify in the face of said exterior enemy, let alone one that has been mythologied as the big bad for like 50 years.

I seem to remember it took a good while to get a new speaker last time, and gently caress all was getting done in the interum. Maybe? It really could go either way by galvanizing his supporters and dems to give a big ol middle finger to the other faction, and it's a stupidly risky thing to do during an election year. It's not a sure fire thing either way and last time it happened the person ousted got to pick his temporary replacement.

He's a good journalist in that he gives you his biases up front and tries to give you unbiased information. I mean, is anyone really surprised given the emphasis on massed artillery in Soviet/Russian doctrine, especially when compared to NATO countries that don't really go all in on that?
