I played it for the first time 5 years ago and I played it like a FPS. Gunned my whole way thru. Stealth is so boring. I spend the whole commute and workday hoping to not be seen or heard, I don't need that poo poo in my leisure time too.

- item/ammo scarcity is done perfectly - regenerating health undermines the above point - being able to skip everything by going in vents undermines the first point - the terrorist's motives are extremely stupid compared to the first game that's about all i'm willing to summarize from a 3.5 hour video for free

i'm now struck by the irony that daikatana, the only other game released by ion storm, suffered from a lot of the same exact "design is law, everything we lay out has to be completed in meticulous detail no matter what" development hinderences that made deus ex 3 so flawed, while deus ex 1 skirted those problems entirely. it's crazy they would fall into those same traps when the big video game development do's and dont's manual 'masters of doom' exists that literally chronicles the development of daikatana in depth made by literally the same company that made deus ex that these people were literally making a sequel to. okay do i sound completely nuts right now? i can already feel the mind control rays
