But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured. It really is an epidemic. My partner goes to work, and knows all kinds of people, here and across the globe. I know three people irl in the town where I live, and I don't see em often - I spend 90% of my time knocking around the flat on my own. Often posting on these forums. Which is good, but otherwise it sucks. And I'm (usually) working too. I'm lucky that I'm still very tight with the friends I made when friend-making was still possible (16-25), but still. I don't know how we all inevitably get sorted into our own little boxes. It just seems to happen.

Gotta be honest, I just want A Gang again. I seem to be enjoying/enduring some sort of second adolescence, since the first one (in hindsight) never felt like it really belonged to me. And also I'm not sure there's much point in taking part in modern 'adult' culture, here, in the foothills of societal collapse. I just want a bunch of other knuckleheads who're on my wavelength and around to pal around with on the weekends. But almost everyone my age has kids and careers and everyone else is young and kinda annoying (and I wouldn't know how to properly relate with them anyway) Ah well forkboy84 posted:I deeply resent that I haven't had the same enjoyment from gigs since being attacked at Faith No More in Edinburgh over a decade ago and basically having a panic attack from the shock of it all. I definitely relate to that but it can be dealt with (though I doubt you want to). Just realising that you don't have to read other people's emotions and reactions constantly and just do The Thing but Next To Each Other is a skill but it can be practiced. It probably stems from adult figures in your childhood
