I'm biased but Operative or Assassin are both great. Stealth to skip past poo poo in story, and they have great DPS. Assassin has the option to tank and Operative has the option to heal. Operative is my personal favorite class because even in DPS spec they have pretty strong self heals so you can solo a lot of things easier.

If you're trying to be as op as possible solo nothing is going to beat Lethality Operative. Having said that any story content should be faceroll easy with a healing comp for any class.

The same for SM raiding...just go with whatever you enjoy. I like Op and Sorc since they can cleanse and heal themselves so I don't have to depend on unknown healers and tanks as much unlike a Sin who will admittedly do more DPS but is made of tissue paper and has poo poo for DCD's.

If you were to get into progression raiding the class you play probably wouldn't be your choice anyways.

The way I saw it, at least a couple scarpered while I was killing the Prince and the Creeper and then a bunch more were only there in hologram form, so two thirds of the cabal were presumably still sitting in safehouses or friendly territory with their full bank accounts and massive influence. Seemed a premature celebration, really.

I'm with you, I've always maintained that the Star Cabal (i.e. non-Force users tired of both Jedi and Sith loving the galaxy up) was a unique and wasted opportunity for some endgame story content.

lmao this new medal system for PvP is scuffed...did 11,000,000 damage, 4,000,000 healing done, and planted 3 doors in a Voidstar win to end up with 3 medals.

In a Hypergate loss I just stayed stealth in mid grabbing orbs but not running them and tossing Corrosive Grenade in between rounds...ended with 11 medals.

You can make a billion credits in a couple hours of playing these days. That will get you enough tech fragments to buy a couple OEM-13 or RPM-13 mats from the spoils of war vendor, which sell for 150-200 million credits. There's no more weeklong lockouts so you can run that every day.

Yeah I'm pulling in a bout a billion a week doing nothing but selling 2 OEM's every other day from PvP'ing. I'm at ~75 billion in my Legacy and another ~20 billion spread around characters with nothing really to spend it on.

I'm surprised they took Amplifiers out of the game, a consequence of simplifying I suppose, cause they were a fabulous credit sink.

I don't even really quick travel since I haven't lvled a new character in a long while, I mostly just bounce between stronghold and fleet.

They could charge and absurd amount of credits to change your second combat discipline or unlock a third one.

I'd pay good credits to get Fleet chat and mission terminals in my Stronghold.

Heh they could drain a lot of credits by making non-hood versions of several armors. Or make stuff like Dark Gray primary and secondary dyes craftable but make it obscene like gold augments.

Some sort of unlock to get priority in stuff like FP queues.

How is a dot spec like plasmatech in PvP?

Both Vanguard DPS specs in PvP are glass cannons in the truest sense of the words...with the caveat bring the player not the class they tend to be weak when alone and op when backed by good support.

The primary defense of Tactics is to burst your opponent down quicker than they do you, Plasmatech doesn't have that burst so generally you're just ankle biting with fluffy DoT damage until someone decides to end you.

Plasmatech's best defense is hoping nobody notices and/or cares about you but you are melee and the Plasmatize/Scorch DoT is a big neon sign pointing right at you so that is unlikely.

In PvP it's bottom of the barrel along with Serenity, Assault Specialist and Sharpshooter.

If you're looking for a DoT spec for PvP specifically Ruffian and Balance are S rank with Vigilance not far behind.

So now that I'm 80 and finally played enough GSF to have decent gear I just started trying to re-learn to do regular PvP. Holy poo poo, this game basically requires me to get a master's degree in SWTOR to be at all competitive, and I'm not sure that will be enough even if I devote my life to it. I feel like I need 2 more arms and a couple of different keyboards, plus a few hours spent mapping keybindings and overhauling UI to optimize my brain function/eye-hand coordination and merely accomplish what is recommended in the basic YouTube videos.

First of all I recommend an MMO mouse...I've used several and the Corsair Scimitar is my favorite.

This is my set-up and what I always recommend to people looking to get into NiM raiding or top-tier PvP...

A couple of things here, first the vertical hotbar is my basic rotation. It's right in your face and easy to keep track of. Pretty much every single spec in ToR is priority based so this hotbar goes from most to least priority. For example this is a Lethality Operative and in PvP keeping your Probes up is priority #1 so that's the first button. Apart from keeping your dots up, Toxic Blast uptime is the most important so that's second. I don't have dots on this bar cause they have no CD, your watching your opponents debuff bar not your hotbar for when you need to recast. The last 3 buttons (R, F, C) are offensive utilities, heals, and taunts.

The other main point here is that I always map similar abilities to the same slot across multiple characters i.e. my interrupt is always X, my trinket is always Z, any gap closers (Force Speed, Exfiltration, etc) are =. DCD's always start with Shift+7 and go to Shift+= based on the priority in which they should be used.

You've only got so many buttons so don't waste hotkeys on abilities that don't need to be hotkeyed like stims, the fleet travel button, and Sprint.

It's all about muscle memory...time spent thinking is time spent dying. Also remember the golden rule ABC, always be casting. APM is just as important as your rotation, if nothing else just spam your basic attack.

PvP is about situational awareness...zoom your camera out so you can see as much of the action as you can. Make your teammate that is guarding your off-node your focus target so you know when they're in combat or mezzed. Relying on chat to know where you need to be is for losers. Respond to situations (i.e. use DCD's or rotate to another node or click on bombs/consoles) <before> the situation happens, for example a Sorc who bubbles at 5% health is basically dead whereas a Sorc who bubbles at 90% as soon as they become the focus has options.

The best way to learn to beat a spec is to play that spec yourself.

Queue dodge if you need to...if there are premades or really bad players ruining your good time put them on your friends list if possible and don't queue unless they're in a WZ and/or Arena.

Assuming you can still get the objective by doing the bonus boss and finishing one, it makes no difference to me

My go to was Story mode Meridian four times on a stealther...took 15 minutes. The only time I run Master FP's these days is carrying friends to some of the harder Achievements like Mokan.
