That is why the rabbi says "vote for this person/not that person" and the members will do what he says because he is the ultimate religious (and that is all there is) authority.

I live a province (Canadian here) where Tesla's are ubiquitous as gently caress. The people driving them aren't doing it because they are electric but because it's kind of a status symbol. When BMW or Mercs or whatever start making electric cars as quickly and as expensive as Tesla's then I can see them taking a hot here. I don't think Tesla is worrying about the coming of Nissan Leafs.

My extremely ignorant, naïve take is that if you want politicians to actually do something and bring in gun control you just need an effective lobby that can bribe politicians one dollar more than the IRA can. As far as I can tell no politician actually gives a flying gently caress about guns, just that they know that it gets them votes and cash. So by being a pro-gun group who will bribe politicians (or "donate") you get rid of one of those problems, and who are actual gun nuts going to vote for if not the R anyway.

Trump bragged about not paying taxes during the presidential debates. Clinton kept hammering that Trump hardly paid taxes and Trump said he didn't pay taxes because he is smart. The guy wasn't really shy about the idea that he never paid taxes. I think the reason he was so against releasing his tax return is because it will show he isn't as rich as he wants people to think he is. He will happily admit to any crime without shame, just as long as people think he is rich.
