also excited and I’m just not sure what to name the dog but I sure hope he is sweet and nice and also I hope I am not a disastrous dog parent I grew up with dogs but really in hindsight my mom did all the work and I’m not sure I really have any idea how to raise a puppy and I am worried that any failings in the dog willl be reflections of my own failings as a person |

Start early with picking it up, pushing it over, taking food and treats away (and giving them back). I know that sounds unkind, but a grown dog that has never had these things happen will be very resistant to them. So, if the dog one day decides to eat something dangerous and you need to take it away, you're less likely to get bit if the dog is used to that sort of thing. If you need to brush them or get a tick off of them, it's good if they're used to being pushed over or picked up.

buy some puppy pads OP. the first thing 2 teach a pup is that's it's not ok to potty indoors. this can take a year or two depending on the breed |
