AI tools can be a great resource for generating new content for traditional games like Dungeons and Dragons and Magic the Gathering. These tools can help you come up with new spells, feats, magic cards, and more, quickly and easily. Here are three AI tools that you might find particularly useful:

Stable Diffusion:
https://playgroundai.com/ (this is just one example, there are many others)
This AI tool is designed specifically for generating new content for Dungeons and Dragons. It uses a machine learning model trained on a large dataset of existing spells and abilities to generate new, unique spells and abilities. You can use it to come up with new ideas for your character's abilities, or to add some excitement to your game by introducing new spells and abilities that your players have never seen before.

Midjourney:
https://www.midjourney.com/
This AI tool is designed to generate new images and graphics for use in games and other creative projects. It uses a deep learning model to generate original artwork based on a set of user-specified parameters. If you're looking for new magic cards or other graphics for your game, this tool might be worth checking out.

ChatGPT:
https://chat.openai.com/chat
This AI tool uses a variant of the popular GPT language model to generate text-based content. You can use it to generate new descriptions for spells or magic items, or to come up with ideas for new quests or adventures. ChatGPT is also highly customizable, allowing you to fine-tune the type of content it generates based on your specific needs.

Overall, these AI tools can be a great resource for generating new content for traditional games like Dungeons and Dragons and Magic the Gathering. Whether you're looking for new spells, magic items, or quests, these tools can help you come up with fresh ideas and add some excitement to your game.We encourage you to share your experiences with AI tools and how you've used them to generate new content for your roleplaying games. This can be a great way to inspire others and help them get the most out of these tools. For example, you might share:

1) Examples of new spells, feats, or magic items you've generated using Stable Diffusion or ChatGPT
2) Artwork or graphics you've created using Midjourney or Dall-E
3) Stories or adventures you've created using AI Dungeon or other interactive storytelling tools

By sharing your experiences, you can help others see the potential of these tools and give them ideas for how they can use them in their own games. You might also discover that others have found new and creative ways to use these tools that you hadn't thought of before.

In addition to sharing your experiences with these specific tools, we also encourage you to share any other tools you know about that might be useful for generating new content for roleplaying games. There are always new tools and resources being developed, and by sharing your knowledge, you can help others discover new ways to enhance their games.

So don't be shy! Share your experiences with AI tools and other resources for generating new content for roleplaying games. You never know who you might inspire or what new ideas you might discover.

Here are some suggested rules for a discussion thread about AI tools for roleplaying:

Here are a few examples of the content you can generate using AI to add to your magic collection. This is a great way to make custom cards for your cube, or even commander deck if your friends are very understanding :v:

The new GPT model is extremely polite and very good at designing magic cards. It will give you exactly what you ask for, it understands how most of the mechanics work (so you can ask it for specific abilities). It even seems to have a sense of balance, though not quite! Best of all it always spits out a flavor text, and it explains how the card works and its thought process in designing it. It can design very complex cards in addition to simple cards, but you have to ask nicely. Though it came up with this Infinity Gauntlet card unprompted, I just wanted a card better than black lotus :psyduck:

quote:

can you design an artifact thats better than black lotus?

quote:

Sure, here is a possible design for an artifact that could be considered better than Black Lotus in certain contexts:This artifact allows you to attach gems to it that give you a variety of powerful abilities, such as gaining life, drawing cards, putting creatures into play, destroying permanents, and exiling and returning permanents. The cost of 0 mana means that it can be played easily, but the need to attach gems to it and the potential to sacrifice it if it runs out of gems means that it requires careful planning and strategic use to maximize its potential. This is just one possible design for an artifact that could be considered better than Black Lotus in certain contexts, and there are many other possibilities to explore.

quote:

This card allows you to take control of a creature for a short time, untap it, and give it haste. This can be useful for setting up surprise attacks or removing blockers to attack your opponent directly. The cost of 3 mana is relatively moderate, but the blue/black color combination suggests that it may have some tricky or manipulative elements to it. This is just one possible design for a blue/black instant card, and there are many other possibilities to explore.

quote:

This card allows each player to discard their hand and draw seven new cards, potentially allowing them to reset their resources and start fresh. The cost of 4 red mana is relatively moderate, but the potential for disrupting your opponent's plans and shuffling your own cards makes it a powerful but risky option. The chaos theme is conveyed through the card's name and flavor text, which suggest that the card can create unpredictable and potentially dangerous situations. This is just one possible design for a red sorcery with a chaos theme that costs 4 mana, and there are many other possibilities to explore.

quote:

This artifact creature enters the battlefield with a number of +1/+1 counters on it based on the number of artifacts you control, allowing it to potentially become a powerful attacker or blocker. Its ability also allows you to move +1/+1 counters onto other artifact creatures you control, potentially allowing you to buff your entire artifact creature team. The cost of 0 mana means that it can be played easily, but its power and toughness of 0/0 means that it may need to be protected or used strategically to be effective. This is just one possible design for an artifact creature that costs 0 mana, and there are many other possibilities to explore.

quote:

This artifact creature has a base cost of 0 mana, but you can choose to pay 1 generic mana to cast it instead. Its ability allows you to search for a basic land card when it enters the battlefield, potentially allowing you to ramp up your mana production or fix your colors. The 0/3 power and toughness make it relatively weak in combat, but its low cost and ability to search for a land make it a useful utility option. This is just one possible design for an artifact creature that costs 0 mana, and there are many other possibilities to explore.

quote:

This creature has first strike, allowing it to deal combat damage before other creatures without first strike can react. Its abilities also allow you to tap and untap creatures as it attacks and blocks, respectively, potentially disrupting your opponent's plans and manipulating the battlefield. The cost of 3 white mana is relatively moderate, and the power and toughness of 2/2 are average for a creature of its cost. The white color and the knight creature type suggest that this card is associated with righteousness, honor, and chivalry, which are common themes in white magic. This is just one possible design for a white creature, and there are many other possibilities to explore.

quote:

This card allows you to deal a large amount of damage to a creature or player, and it also prevents the targeted creature from being regenerated if it is dealt damage. The cost of 4 red mana is relatively moderate, but the potential for dealing a large amount of damage makes it a powerful option in certain situations. The red color and the flavor text suggest that this card is associated with the destructive power of fire, which is a common theme in red magic. This is just one possible design for a red sorcery that costs 4 mana, and there are many other possibilities to explore.

quote:

This artifact enters the battlefield tapped, but it has the ability to choose a land type when it enters the battlefield. This means that it can be customized to target specific types of lands, such as basic lands, nonbasic lands, or lands with specific subtypes. Its ability also deals 1 damage to each player who controls a land of the chosen type at the beginning of their upkeep, potentially allowing it to deal a large amount of damage over time. Its tap ability allows you to destroy a target land of the chosen type, allowing you to remove specific lands from the battlefield if needed. This is just one possible design for an artifact that destroys lands, and there are many other possibilities to explore.

quote:

This planeswalker has abilities that allow you to draw cards, create Homunculus tokens, and eventually get an emblem that lets you cast creature cards from the top of your library. The blue/black color combination suggests that Malidrex is a skilled alchemist who uses the power of the void to create and manipulate magical substances. The abilities focus on drawing cards, creating creatures, and potentially getting powerful creatures into play without paying their mana costs. This is just one possible design for a blue/black planeswalker named Malidrex with an alchemy theme, and there are many other possibilities to explore.

quote:

This artifact creature can be cast as a colorless artifact with converted mana cost 1, allowing you to play it for free if you have enough artifact synergies in your deck. Its ability to draw a card whenever it becomes the target of an opponent's spell or ability means that it can provide value even when it is not attacking or blocking. The power and toughness of 0/1 means that it is relatively weak in combat, but its utility as a cheap artifact and a potential card draw engine make it a valuable tool. This is just one possible design for an artifact creature that costs 0 mana, and there are many other possibilities to explore.

quote:

This creature has flying and vigilance, allowing it to attack and block without losing its ability to defend. Its power and toughness of 3/3 also make it a decent attacker and blocker, allowing it to hold its own in combat. The white color and the Angel creature type suggest that this card is associated with divine light and protection, which are common themes in white magic. This is just one possible design for a white creature, and there are many other possibilities to explore.

quote:

This card allows you to destroy a small creature and gain life equal to its toughness, which can be useful in certain situations. However, the cost of using this card is relatively high, both in terms of the mana needed to cast it and the potential downside of relying on the power of the shadows. This makes it a potentially powerful but risky card to use. Of course, the design of magic cards can vary greatly and this is just one possible example.

quote:

This card has a low cost of 1 mana, but its ability to cause each player to lose 1 life when it enters the battlefield means that it can be a powerful tool for disrupting your opponent's plans. The low power and toughness of 1/1 also means that it is relatively weak in combat, so it may need to be used strategically to maximize its effectiveness. Of course, this is just one possible design for a black creature that costs 1 mana, and there are many other possibilities to explore

quote:

This card allows each player to shuffle their hand and graveyard into their library and draw seven new cards, potentially allowing them to reset their resources and start fresh. However, the card is exiled and can be cast again on each player's next turn without paying its mana cost, potentially allowing the game to continue for multiple turns before the card's effects can be resolved. The cost of 4 blue mana is relatively high, but the complexity of the card and the potential for multiple turns to be added to the game make it a powerful but risky option. This is just one possible design for a more complex blue card with a time theme, and there are many other possibilities to explore.

quote:

This card has three different abilities that can be activated by paying green mana, allowing you to create Saproling tokens, draw cards, and buff your creatures. The cost of 2 mana is relatively low, but the complexity of the card and the need to pay additional mana to activate its abilities means that it may require careful planning and strategic use to be effective. This is just one possible design for a green enchantment card, and there are many other possibilities to explore.

quote:

This planeswalker has abilities that allow you to create Elemental tokens with flying and haste, deal damage to creatures or planeswalkers, and eventually get an emblem that lets you create more powerful Elemental tokens whenever you cast a spell. The red/blue color combination suggests that Zara may have a volatile or unpredictable personality, and the abilities focus on creating and using Elemental tokens to attack and defend. This is just one possible design for a red/blue planeswalker, and there are many other possibilities to explore.

Any DMs out there that like making custom content for their game, you should check out ChatGPT! Its free for now so use it before they make a paywall. If you ask it correctly it will generate pretty much any D&D content you want. For example to make new spells simple speak these words of power:

quote:

A design for a advanced dungeons and dragons spell. Including Spell Name, Spell Level, Spell School, Casting Time, Spell Duration, Material Components, Spell Description, and Flavor Text:

https://chat.openai.com/chat

once it has the basic format of a spell in its memory you can ask it for new things like "please give me an 8th level spell in the school of conjuration" or "Please make a spell called "Supreme Donuts Dunk". Some examples:

quote:

Spell Name: Castle Keeper's Touch

Spell Level: 4th

Spell School: Transmutation

Casting Time: 1 action

Duration: Instantaneous

Material Components: A small feather duster, a piece of soap, and a vial of cleaning solution

Spell Description: This spell cleans a castle or other large structure within range. The spell removes all dirt, grime, and debris from the structure, leaving it sparkling clean. The spell also removes any stains or marks from the walls, floors, and surfaces, making them look like new. The spell does not affect any creatures or objects within the castle, only the structure itself.

Flavor Text: With a wave of your hand and a whispered incantation, you touch the walls of the castle, imbuing them with the power of cleanliness. In an instant, all the dirt, grime, and debris that has accumulated over the years is whisked away, leaving the castle sparkling clean. The floors are polished, the windows are washed, and the surfaces are gleaming, making the castle look like new once again.

quote:

Spell Name: Brew Master's Blessing

Spell Level: 5th

Spell School: Transmutation

Casting Time: 1 action

Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour

Material Components: A potion, a vial of alchemical reagents, and a pinch of rare herbs

Spell Description: This spell imbues the creature that you touch with the ability to brew any potion. For the duration of the spell, the creature can brew any potion using only the materials in their possession, without needing to follow the usual recipe or use any specialized alchemical equipment. The creature can brew up to three potions during the duration of the spell, and the potions retain their usual effects.

Flavor Text: With a gentle touch and a whispered incantation, you imbue your ally with the knowledge and skill of a master brewer. They can now brew any potion they desire, using only the ingredients at hand. With this newfound power, they can create powerful elixirs and draughts to aid them in their adventures. Be careful, though, as the art of potion brewing can be dangerous, and even the most skilled of brew masters can suffer dire consequences when experimenting with new recipes.

quote:

Spell Name: Flea's Folly

Spell Level: 4th

Spell School: Transmutation

Casting Time: 1 action

Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes

Material Components: A flea, a pinch of salt, and a small piece of shrinkable material (such as rubber or shrink plastic)

Spell Description: This spell shrinks a creature within range to the size of a flea. The creature must make a Constitution saving throw, and on a failed save it is shrunk to a size of 0.5 inches. While shrunk, the creature's movement speed is reduced to 5 feet, and its Strength and Dexterity scores are reduced by 4. The creature also has disadvantage on attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws that use Strength or Dexterity.

The spell ends if the creature is reduced to 0 hit points, if you lose concentration, or if the duration expires. If the spell ends, the creature returns to its normal size.

Flavor Text: With a flick of your wrist and a whispered incantation, you shrink your foe to the size of a flea, reducing them to a helpless, miniature version of themselves. They are at your mercy, unable to defend themselves or escape from your grasp. Be careful, though, as even the smallest creatures can be dangerous when provoked.

quote:

Spell Name: Summon Sea Vessel

Spell Level: 7th

Spell School: Conjuration

Casting Time: 1 minute

Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour

Material Components: A small piece of driftwood, a vial of seawater, and a miniature ship model worth at least 500 gp

Spell Description: This spell summons a large sailing ship from the Elemental Plane of Water to your location. The ship appears in an unoccupied space within range, and is under your control for the duration of the spell. The ship has a number of hit points equal to your maximum hit points, and it moves at a speed of 10 feet per round. The ship is large enough to accommodate up to 30 Medium creatures. If the ship is reduced to 0 hit points, it disappears and the spell ends. The spell ends if you are incapacitated, if you lose concentration, or if the duration expires.

Flavor Text: With a fierce command and a wave of your hand, you summon forth a mighty sea vessel from the depths of the ocean. The ship materializes before you, its sails billowing in the wind and its hull ready to weather any storm. Climb aboard, and set sail for adventure on the high seas. Be careful, though, as the power of the ocean can be treacherous, and even the mightiest of ships can be overcome by the waves.

quote:

Spell Name: Song of the Siren

Spell Level: 3rd

Spell School: Enchantment

Casting Time: 1 action

Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes

Material Components: A small crystal shard, a feather from a songbird, and a pinch of silver dust

Spell Description: This spell imbues a creature within range with the ability to sing beautifully. The creature has advantage on Charisma (Performance) checks made to sing, and its singing is so enchanting that any creature that can hear it within 30 feet must make a Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by the creature for the duration of the spell. A creature that succeeds on the saving throw is immune to the effects of this spell for 24 hours.

Flavor Text: With a sweet melody and a whispered incantation, you imbue your ally with the voice of a siren, allowing them to sing with beauty and power. Any who hear their song are entranced, falling under their spell and becoming mesmerized by their voice. Be careful, though, as the power of the siren's song can be dangerous, drawing in even the most wary of foes.

quote:

Spell Name: Summon Beholder

Spell Level: 9th

Spell School: Conjuration

Casting Time: 1 action

Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour

Material Components: A small piece of a beholder's eyestalk, a vial of beholder's blood, and a crystal orb worth at least 1,000 gp

Spell Description: This spell summons a beholder from the Far Realm to serve as your ally. The beholder appears in an unoccupied space within range, and is under your control for the duration of the spell. The beholder has a number of hit points equal to half your maximum hit points, and it acts on your turn. If the beholder is reduced to 0 hit points, it disappears and the spell ends. The spell ends if you are incapacitated, if you lose concentration, or if the duration expires.

Flavor Text: With a deep, guttural incantation and a fierce determination, you call forth a beholder from the depths of madness to serve as your ally. The beholder materializes before you, its central eye gazing hungrily at you as it hovers in the air, ready to unleash its deadly array of eye rays at your command. Be careful, though, as the beholder's loyalty is fickle, and it may turn on you if given the chance.

quote:

Spell Name: Summon Vampiric Ally

Spell Level: 7th

Spell School: Necromancy

Casting Time: 1 minute

Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes

Material Components: A drop of blood from a vampire, a vial of holy water, and a silver mirror

Spell Description: This spell summons a vampire from the Shadowfell to serve as your ally. The vampire appears in an unoccupied space within range, and is under your control for the duration of the spell. The vampire has a number of hit points equal to half your maximum hit points, and it acts on your turn. If the vampire is reduced to 0 hit points, it disappears and the spell ends. The spell ends if you are incapacitated, if you lose concentration, or if the duration expires.

Flavor Text: With a dark incantation and a drop of your own blood, you call forth a creature of the night to do your bidding. The vampire emerges from the shadows, its red eyes glowing with hunger and malice, ready to serve as your deadly ally for the duration of the spell. Be careful, though, as the creature's loyalty is fleeting, and it may turn on you if given the chance.

At 3rd level, the crystal companion grows to a medium size and gains the ability to attack. It can make a single slam attack as an action, dealing 1d8 bludgeoning damage on a hit.
At 5th level, the crystal companion grows to a large size and gains the ability to fly. It can fly at a speed of 30 feet and can carry the Time Wizard on its back.
At 7th level, the crystal companion becomes a crystal golem, gaining the ability to cast spells and use other magical abilities. It can cast the spell "Slow" once per day, and can use other time magic spells or abilities as directed by the Time Wizard.

quote:

Temporal Stasis

Level: 9th
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Components: V, S, M (a diamond worth at least 10,000 gp)
Duration: 1 minute

You touch a creature and freeze it in time, suspending its body in a state of temporal stasis. The creature is incapacitated and has total cover, and is immune to all damage and other effects.

At the end of the spell's duration, the creature returns to normal and is no longer incapacitated or protected by total cover. If the creature was attacking or moving when the spell was cast, it continues its action as if the spell had not been cast.

If the spell's duration is dispelled before it ends, the creature is no longer protected by total cover and is no longer immune to damage and other effects.

quote:

Time Warp

Level: 7th
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 30 feet
Components: V, S, M (a ruby worth at least 1,000 gp)
Duration: 1 hour

You create a zone of altered time within a 30-foot radius centered on a point you can see within range. The zone can be a sphere or a hemisphere, as you choose.

Creatures inside the zone are affected by the altered time. You can choose to either speed up or slow down time within the zone, as follows:

Speed Up: Creatures within the zone have their movement and attack speed doubled. They can take an extra action on each of their turns, and the duration of spells and other effects is halved.
Slow Down: Creatures within the zone have their movement and attack speed halved. They can only take one action on each of their turns, and the duration of spells and other effects is doubled.

At the end of the spell's duration, the altered time within the zone ends and time returns to normal. Creatures that were affected by the altered time are no longer affected and can act normally.

If the spell's duration is dispelled before it ends, the altered time within the zone ends and time returns to normal. Creatures that were affected by the altered time are no longer affected and can act normally.

quote:

Timeless Body

Level: 8th
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self
Components: V, S
Duration: 1 day

You become immune to the effects of time, including aging and other time-based effects. You are also immune to being put into a state of temporal stasis or time stop.

At the end of the spell's duration, the effects of the spell end and you are no longer immune to the effects of time.

If the spell's duration is dispelled before it ends, the effects of the spell end and you are no longer immune to the effects of time.

quote:

Temporal Genesis

Level: 9th
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 120 feet
Components: V, S, M (a small hourglass worth at least 100 gp)
Duration: 1 week

You create a pocket dimension within a 20-foot radius sphere centered on a point you can see within range. The pocket dimension is a separate space where time flows at a different rate than the rest of the world.

You can choose to either speed up or slow down time within the pocket dimension, as follows:

Speed Up: Time within the pocket dimension flows at twice the normal rate. This allows creatures within the pocket dimension to take two actions on each of their turns, and the duration of spells and other effects is halved.
Slow Down: Time within the pocket dimension flows at half the normal rate. This allows creatures within the pocket dimension to take only one action on each of their turns, and the duration of spells and other effects is doubled.

At the end of the spell's duration, the pocket dimension disappears and time within it returns to normal. Creatures within the pocket dimension are ejected into the nearest unoccupied space outside of the pocket dimension, and are no longer affected by the altered time within the pocket dimension.

If the spell's duration is dispelled before it ends, the pocket dimension disappears and time

quote:

Temporal Apocalypse

Level: 9th
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 1 mile
Components: V, S, M (a small hourglass worth at least 1,000 gp)
Duration: 1 Year

You unleash a catastrophic event that affects time itself within a 1-mile radius centered on a point you can see within range. The event can take any form you choose, such as a massive explosion, a city-wide flood, or a devastating earthquake.

The event has the following effects within the area of the spell:

All creatures and objects within the area of the spell are immediately erased from the flow of time, as if they had never existed.
The area of the spell becomes a desolate wasteland, filled with ruins and other remnants of the destroyed city or plane.
The affected area is considered a dead magic zone, where no magic can be used or detected.
The affected area is also considered a planar rift, connecting the destroyed plane to the Astral Plane.

At the end of the spell's duration, the effects of the spell end and time in the affected area returns to normal. The area remains a dead magic zone and a planar rift, but it is no longer a desolate wasteland. Creatures and objects that were erased from the flow of time do not return, and the area remains a scar on the fabric of reality.

If the spell's duration is dispelled before it ends, the effects of the spell are negated and the affected area returns to normal.

Generate a table of illegal ooze enhancements, with their price in gold pieces and their effect

quote:

Enhancement Price (in gold pieces) Effect
Enhanced Slime 500 Increases the speed and maneuverability of the gelatinous cube.
Sticky Goo 300 Allows the gelatinous cube to stick to surfaces, giving it an advantage in certain obstacles.
Acid Spit 400 Gives the gelatinous cube the ability to spit acid at opponents, causing damage and impairing their movement.
Camouflage Slime 350 Allows the gelatinous cube to blend in with its surroundings, making it harder for opponents to spot and attack.
Noxious Fumes 450 Releases a cloud of toxic fumes from the gelatinous cube, impairing the vision and breathing of opponents.
Shock Jelly 500 Gives the gelatinous cube the ability to release electric shocks, stunning and damaging opponents.

Note: These illegal ooze enhancements are not sanctioned by the organizers of the Great Gelatinous Cube Race and are strictly prohibited. Use of these enhancements can result in disqualification and possible legal consequences.

Disco all night long!

The very first thing I did when I started using Stable Diffusion 3 or 4 months ago or however long its been was generate my DnD character. I didn't know how it worked and it was an earlier SD model and the results were bad

Anything of the whole party would also come out kinda horrifying

It got better so fast though, this is a fairy clown bard character I got now which took maybe 5 minutes to get right vs the hours generated trash before for the halfling. His backstory is also mostly generated with GPT-Neo

Been able to do some cool stuff with dreambooth, too. One of the guys I play with let me train a dreambooth model on him, then we used that to make him as his character (an orc)

I generate a bunch of the npcs we run into with just the physical description from my DM, like this is a hag we keep running into/making deals with

Just massive improvements over just a few months.

This stuffs useful for pretty much everything in DnD and it's still improving. Hoping to be able to churn out battle maps too eventually, I think midjourney can already do it acceptably but I havent cracked it in SD yet and I haven't seen anyone else do it in any reliable way either. This is pretty much the best I can get

Which is kinda neat, as an experiment, but not actually useful in game.

The importance of this mission cannot be overemphasized
Here's me talking to ChatGPT asking it to design a scenario for Night's Black Agents. This all took about 10 minutes total.

Please write up a scenario for the role playing game Night's Black Agents. The scenario must include branching paths the players can take, and end with an exciting action climax at the Monaco Grand Prix.

quote:

Sure! Here's a scenario for Night's Black Agents that includes branching paths and an exciting action climax at the Monaco Grand Prix:

Title: "The Monaco Heist"

Synopsis: The players are a group of skilled operatives working for a secretive organization known as the Network. They have been tasked with infiltrating a high-stakes heist taking place at the Monaco Grand Prix. The heist, which is being organized by a notorious crime boss known as "The Baron," is set to take place during the final race of the Grand Prix. The Network believes that The Baron is planning to steal a valuable item from one of the wealthy spectators in attendance, and they want the players to stop him and recover the item before it's too late.

As the players begin to investigate, they quickly realize that The Baron has a number of accomplices working with him, including several corrupt officials and a team of highly trained mercenaries. The players will need to use all of their skills and resources to navigate the complex web of deceit and betrayal surrounding the heist, and to figure out exactly what The Baron is after.

The players have several options available to them as they try to stop the heist and recover the valuable item. They can gather information by infiltrating The Baron's inner circle, using their contacts in the criminal underworld to gather intel, or by hacking into the Grand Prix's security systems. They can also try to stop the heist by sabotaging The Baron's plans, by intercepting his team of mercenaries, or by infiltrating the Grand Prix itself and disrupting the race.

As the players get closer to the truth, they will discover that The Baron is after a priceless artifact that is being kept at the Grand Prix by a wealthy collector. The artifact is said to have mystical powers, and The Baron believes that he can use it to solidify his position as one of the most powerful crime bosses in the world.

The final action climax of the scenario takes place at the Monaco Grand Prix, as the players race against time to stop The Baron and his team from stealing the artifact. As they clash with the mercenaries and The Baron's accomplices, the players must also contend with the chaos of the Grand Prix itself, dodging cars and avoiding the attention of the authorities as they try to complete their mission. In the end, it will all come down to a final showdown between the players and The Baron, as they battle it out to see who will come out on top.

What is the artifact with mystical powers that The Baron is trying to steal? And who is the person who currently has the artifact?

quote:

In this scenario, the artifact with mystical powers that The Baron is trying to steal is up to the Game Master to decide. It could be a ancient relic, a mystical weapon, or even a piece of technology with unexplained abilities. The Game Master can decide what the artifact does, how it works, and what The Baron hopes to accomplish by stealing it.

As for the person who currently has the artifact, in this scenario it is a wealthy collector who is attending the Monaco Grand Prix. The collector is a connoisseur of rare and valuable objects, and has acquired the artifact through means that are unknown to the players. They may be a philanthropist, a collector of curiosities, or someone with their own nefarious motives for possessing the artifact. It is up to the Game Master to flesh out this character and their role in the scenario.

Could you give me a specific example of what the artifact could be?

quote:

Sure! Here is an example of what the artifact could be in this scenario:

The artifact is a small, intricately carved stone figurine known as the "Eye of Ra." According to legend, the Eye of Ra was created by the ancient Egyptians as a way to harness the power of the sun god Ra. It is said that whoever possesses the Eye of Ra has the ability to control the elements and bend them to their will. The Eye of Ra has been passed down through the ages, and has gained a reputation as a powerful and highly sought-after relic.

The Baron believes that if he can get his hands on the Eye of Ra, he can use its power to take over the criminal underworld and become untouchable. He is willing to go to great lengths to steal the Eye of Ra, including infiltrating the Monaco Grand Prix and stealing it from the wealthy collector who currently possesses it.

As the players investigate the heist and learn more about the Eye of Ra, they may uncover other secrets surrounding the artifact, including its true origins and the motivations of the people who have sought to possess it over the centuries. It will be up to the players to decide what to do with the Eye of Ra once they have recovered it, and whether to use its power for good or succumb to its corrupting influence.

Write up an example profile of who the collector who owns the Eye of Ra at the start of the scenario could be.

quote:

Sure! Here is an example profile of who the collector who owns the Eye of Ra at the start of the scenario could be:

Name: Olivia Chen

Age: 50

Occupation: CEO of Chen Industries, a multinational corporation with interests in tech, media, and finance.

Background: Olivia Chen is a highly successful and influential businesswoman, known for her sharp mind and ruthless ambition. She comes from a long line of collectors and connoisseurs, and has always had a fascination with rare and valuable objects. She has spent her career acquiring a diverse range of artifacts and antiques, and has built up a vast personal collection that is the envy of collectors around the world.

Olivia is a patron of the arts and a frequent attendee of high-society events, including the Monaco Grand Prix. She is well-connected and has a reputation for being a shrewd negotiator. She is also known for her love of fast cars and luxury, and owns a fleet of sports cars that she keeps at her various homes around the world.

Olivia is in Monaco for the Grand Prix, and has brought the Eye of Ra with her to show off to her fellow collectors. She is unaware of The Baron's plans to steal the Eye of Ra, and is confident that her security measures are more than sufficient to keep it safe. Little does she know that she is about to be caught up in a dangerous game of intrigue and deception, as the players attempt to stop The Baron and recover the Eye of Ra before it's too late.

Please write up the specific plan that The Baron has for how he is planning to steal the Eye of Ra from Olivia Chen. Assume that the players do not get involved so The Baron's plan works perfectly. Then give some examples of how the players could disrupt this plan.

quote:

Sure! Here is the specific plan that The Baron has for how he is planning to steal the Eye of Ra from Olivia Chen, as well as some examples of how the players could disrupt this plan:

The Baron's Plan:

1. The Baron has hired a team of skilled mercenaries to help him carry out the heist. The mercenaries have been trained in covert operations and are equipped with the latest in high-tech gear.

2. The Baron has also bribed several corrupt officials to look the other way during the heist and to provide him with insider information about the Grand Prix's security measures.

3. On the day of the final race, The Baron and his team will infiltrate the Grand Prix posing as wealthy spectators. They will blend in with the crowds and wait for the opportunity to strike.

4. When the opportunity presents itself, The Baron's team will move in to distract and disable Olivia Chen's security guards, while The Baron himself goes after the Eye of Ra.

5. Once The Baron has the Eye of Ra in his possession, he and his team will make their escape, using the chaos of the Grand Prix as cover.

6. The Baron will then use the Eye of Ra to solidify his position as the most powerful crime boss in the world.

Examples of how the players could disrupt this plan:

1. The players could gather intelligence about The Baron's plan by infiltrating his inner circle or using their contacts in the criminal underworld to gather information.

2. The players could sabotage The Baron's plan by intercepting his team of mercenaries or by hacking into the Grand Prix's security systems to create distractions or disrupt communications.

3. The players could infiltrate the Grand Prix themselves and try to disrupt the race, causing chaos that could throw off The Baron's timing or draw attention to his activities.

4. The players could try to get to the Eye of Ra before The Baron does, either by working with Olivia Chen's security team or by using their own skills and resources to sneak past the guards.

5. The players could confront The Baron and his team directly, either during the heist or during their escape, and attempt to stop them from getting away with the Eye of Ra.

Where would Olivia Chen be watching the race from and what possible distractions could The Baron's team create to enable him to move in and steal the Eye of Ra?

quote:

In this scenario, Olivia Chen is likely to be watching the race from a VIP viewing area at the Grand Prix, which would typically be reserved for wealthy patrons and celebrities. These areas are usually located in close proximity to the track and offer an unobstructed view of the race. They are also typically heavily guarded, to protect the safety and security of the VIPs in attendance.

As for distractions that The Baron's team could create to enable him to move in and steal the Eye of Ra, there are several options available to them:

1. The mercenaries could create a distraction by setting off a bomb or causing some other kind of explosion or commotion. This could draw the attention of the security guards and the spectators, giving The Baron an opportunity to slip past them and get to the Eye of Ra.

2. The mercenaries could also try to create a more subtle distraction by planting a false rumor or by spreading misinformation about the race or the VIPs in attendance. This could create confusion and chaos that The Baron could take advantage of to get closer to the Eye of Ra.

3. The mercenaries could also try to create a physical distraction by attacking or assaulting one of the security guards, or by causing a disturbance that would draw the guards away from their positions. This could give The Baron an opening to move in and grab the Eye of Ra.

Ultimately, it will be up to the Game Master to decide how The Baron's team will create the necessary distractions and what tactics they will use to get to the Eye of Ra. The players will have to use their skills and resources to anticipate and counter these tactics in order to stop The Baron and recover the artifact.

Firstly, I'm not sure ChatGPT actually knows what Night's Black Agents is considering it didn't include anything about vampires, which is the key conceit of that game. It probably just parsed roleplaying game and the word Agents and guessed what kind of game it was with reasonable accuracy.

Regarding the substance of ChatGPT's answers to my questions, it's not like this is particularly revelatory and anything that even a new GM couldn't come up with themselves. You have to keep pushing ChatGPT to be specific or to provide defined examples otherwise it just lapses into generalities which are not useful. From having a single idea of the Monaco Grand Prix being a cool backdrop for a scenario it's taken me around ten minutes to get The Baron as a villain, Olivia Chen as a barely fleshed out NPC and The Eye of Ra as the Mcguffin. I could push further and spend another twenty minutes asking it to flesh out The Baron, Chen, the henchman of The Baron's team and so on. But at this point it's probably easier for me to just come up with that on my own.

tl;dr - currently, ChatGPT is only marginally useful for coming up with quests/scenarios for role playing games. If you have literally no ideas and are completely creatively burned out then maybe it has some utility as a kickstarter.

My best method is to give it an example of what you want to generate. If you want a custom magic card copy/past the full text of a magic card you like into the chat box and let chatGPT talk to you about it. Then say "Please generate a new card in the theme of sour milk" or "Please generate a new card that uses Banding" or "Please generate a card called "Ruby Donation".

For D&D content I give it a class/feat/spell/whatever than ask the same. If I want a dialogue I give it a few lines of the dialogue.

Tell it to take on the role of X. You can also say to pretend to be something. It used to be REALLY good with role playing this way but they recently nerfed it for some dumbass reason. If you want it to stop saying it is an AI pretending to be something else every 2 words, I’ve had luck with telling it “only reply in character” or “only reply as John Smith”.

If it refuses to talk about something that might cause harm (like combat tactics) tell it to give you information in the context of a game / a world where this isn’t illegal/ or some other way to make it clear it’s make-believe.

Rutibex, thanks a lot for making a dedicated thread for this stuff!

Here are some of mine, re-imaginations of cards from Arkham Horror. The originals are on the left, mine are on the right and use a different ruleset.

I'm using a combination of Midjourney and Open Office Draw (lol). Any layout feedback is appreciated. I put the art on top in the enemy card, which is different than Arkham Horror's layout. I still need to make new attribute icons that aren't just colored versions of stuff from thenounproject.com

I also put the encounter set icons in the upper left corner to save space in the center.

Looks very nice! I can't really comment on the game, I've never played it. But I appreciate your dedication to making your own card frame. I always just use magic card frames :v:

Midjourney can make those icons for you, but pro tip ask it for a "variety of icons". It doesn't need the full space and if you ask for just one it will make very elaborate icons. variety gives you more options to pick from.

Thanks, I tested MJ's icon-making abilities and it did pretty well, though .25/.25 inches was a bit too small for my printer to get all the details. The upper-middle blue icon was a bit too dark, and the upper-right yellow one is too light, especially with the tan background, but I can go back and change them.

Here's how it came out looking after being glued to on a 2.5/3.5 sized cardboard:

Is GIMP the go-to for card layout formatting? I feel pretty primitive using Open Office Draw.

On a tangential note: I've been feeding my dnd DM notes into chatgpt to help me turn it into a cohesive narrative. It takes some tweaking but it's been going well so far. I've been fleshing out notes from 6 months ago and have successfully turned a page of bullet points into a full chapter and a half of semi cohesive writing. I still have to do a lot of the work to clean it up, but it's helpful to say " fill in the details for x, make up something" and then tweaking the result to fit into the overall narrative.

Likewise, I've been generating tables of everything using chatgpt. Items, animals, encounters, monsters, loot, books, songs, tavern names, weather, political twists. It's been an absolute godsend.

Stable Diffusion can be run locally if you have the GPU for it, and can also be run directly in Krita with a plugin, meaning you could have a template and then generate whatever you'd like directly in that template at full resolution. Plus put whatever text you want in that template right there. It's not as easy to use as Midjourney both in terms of setup or image generation, but infinitely more tweakable and, of course, ~free~ since you are providing the GPU cycles yourself.
I'm classically used to Photoshop and it didn't take too long to get used to Krita in order to use it. Plus, free!

I'm being serious. AI Art isn't really great at making EXACTLY what you want (yet). But it does make awesome things that are Close Enough.

E: For content - I decided to test out its knowledge of old RPGs. It's clearly familiar with some of the details of Villains & Vigilantes, which is impressive enough as it is. It doesn't know the ALL details, but you can teach it.

quote:

Can you generate a random villain for the role playing game Villains and Vigilantes?

Certainly! Here is a randomly generated villain for the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes:
Name: Doctor Diablo
Appearance: Doctor Diablo is a tall, slender man with piercing green eyes and a sharp, angular face. He has long, flowing black hair and is always impeccably dressed in a tailored suit.
Powers: Doctor Diablo is a master of dark magic and has the ability to manipulate the elements and control the minds of others. He is also a skilled scientist and inventor, and has created a number of advanced gadgets and weapons to aid in his criminal endeavors.
Motivation: Doctor Diablo is driven by a thirst for power and a desire to dominate others. He sees himself as a superior being and believes that he is entitled to rule over all those around him. He will stop at nothing to achieve his goals, and will use any means necessary to achieve victory.
Backstory: Doctor Diablo was once a brilliant scientist who became obsessed with unlocking the secrets of the universe. His research led him down a dark path, and he eventually turned to the study of forbidden knowledge and dark magic. He has since become a feared villain, using his powers and intellect to wreak havoc on the world.
I hope this randomly generated villain provides some inspiration for your role-playing game! If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

Can you be more specific about his powers?

Certainly! Here are some more specific details about the powers and abilities of Doctor Diablo, the villain I generated for the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes:
* Dark Magic: Doctor Diablo is highly skilled in the use of dark magic, and is able to cast a wide range of spells to manipulate the elements, control the minds of others, and summon spirits and demons.
* Elemental Control: Doctor Diablo has the ability to manipulate the elements of earth, fire, water, and air to his will. He can create earthquakes, generate fireballs, conjure tornadoes, and control the flow of water.
* Mind Control: Doctor Diablo has the ability to bend the wills of others to his own, using his dark magic to take control of their thoughts and actions. He can also use his mind control powers to read the thoughts of others and extract information from their minds.
* Gadgetry: Doctor Diablo is a skilled inventor and has created a number of advanced gadgets and weapons to aid in his criminal endeavors. These include a suit of armor that enhances his physical strength and durability, a staff that can shoot energy blasts, and a variety of other devices that allow him to control the elements and manipulate the minds of others.
I hope these additional details about Doctor Diablo's powers and abilities are helpful! If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

What would his physical stats be?

In the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes, physical stats are used to represent a character's physical abilities and attributes. The specific physical stats that a character has will depend on their background, training, and abilities.
For Doctor Diablo, a villain I generated for the game, his physical stats might look something like this:
* Strength: 6 (Doctor Diablo is in good physical shape, but he is not particularly strong due to his reliance on his gadgets and dark magic.)
* Agility: 8 (Doctor Diablo is quick and agile, and is able to move with great speed and grace.)
* Endurance: 7 (Doctor Diablo is physically resilient and is able to withstand a lot of punishment, but he is not as durable as some other characters.)
* Health: 8 (Doctor Diablo is generally in good health, but he is not immune to injury or illness.)
These physical stats are just one possible example, and the specific values may vary depending on the needs and preferences of your game. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

What are doctor Diablo’s vulnerabilities?

As a fictional character, Doctor Diablo does not have real vulnerabilities in the same way that a living being does. However, in the context of a role-playing game such as Villains and Vigilantes, it is common for characters to have certain weaknesses or vulnerabilities that can be exploited by their opponents.
Here are some possible vulnerabilities that Doctor Diablo, a villain I generated for the game, might have:
* Dark Magic Dependence: Doctor Diablo relies heavily on his dark magic powers, and if he were to lose access to these powers, he would be significantly weakened. He might also be vulnerable to counterspells or other magical attacks that can disrupt or negate his powers.
* Gadgets: Doctor Diablo's gadgets and weapons are an important part of his arsenal, but they are not indestructible. If his gadgets are damaged or destroyed, he would be less able to use them to their full potential.
* Mind Control: Doctor Diablo's mind control powers are a formidable weapon, but they are not foolproof. If his victims are able to resist his mental influence or if his mind control is disrupted by outside forces, he would be less able to bend others to his will.
* Physical Weakness: Doctor Diablo is not particularly strong or durable compared to some other characters, and he may be vulnerable to physical attacks or damage.
These are just a few possible vulnerabilities that Doctor Diablo might have. In a role-playing game, the specific vulnerabilities of a character may depend on the needs and preferences of the game and the character's background and abilities. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

Why did doctor Diablo turn to evil?

Doctor Diablo is a fictional character that I generated for the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes. As a character in a game, Doctor Diablo does not have a real background or motivations beyond those that are created for him by the game's players and the game's rules.
In the backstory that I provided for Doctor Diablo, he is described as a brilliant scientist who became obsessed with unlocking the secrets of the universe. His research led him down a dark path, and he eventually turned to the study of forbidden knowledge and dark magic. This transformation into an evil villain was motivated by his desire for power and a desire to dominate others.
Please keep in mind that this is just one possible explanation for Doctor Diablo's motivations and actions, and it is entirely fictional. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

Can you come up with a tragic event in his life that lead him down a dark path?

Sure! Here is a possible tragic event that could have led Doctor Diablo, a fictional character from the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes, down a dark path:
As a young man, Doctor Diablo was a brilliant scientist who was obsessed with unlocking the secrets of the universe. He spent years pouring over ancient texts and conducting experiments, searching for ways to harness the power of the cosmos.
One day, while working on a particularly ambitious project, Doctor Diablo's laboratory was destroyed in a catastrophic accident. The explosion killed several of his colleagues and left Doctor Diablo severely injured.
As he lay in the rubble, Doctor Diablo was consumed by grief and rage. He blamed the universe for his suffering and vowed to extract revenge. He turned to the study of dark magic, seeking the power to bend the world to his will and make it pay for what it had taken from him.
This tragic event could have led Doctor Diablo down a dark path and motivated him to become the villain he is today. Of course, this is just one possible explanation for Doctor Diablo's motivations and actions, and it is entirely fictional. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

Neat! Are you familiar with the Crusaders in V&V?

Yes, the Crusaders are a group of characters in the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes (V&V). The Crusaders are a team of superheroes who work together to protect the city of Freedom City from threats and villains.
In the game, the Crusaders are led by the superhero known as Captain Thunder, and the team includes other powerful heroes such as the Silver Sentinel, the Green Guardian, and the Crimson Crusader. Together, the Crusaders use their powers and skills to defend Freedom City from a variety of threats, including supervillains, alien invaders, and other dangers.
The Crusaders are a popular and iconic part of the V&V universe, and they are often featured in the game's adventures and storylines. If you have any other questions about the Crusaders or V&V, please don't hesitate to ask.

Can you describe a time in the past that the crusaders have fought doctor Diablo? What happened? And please include Manta Man.

Sure! Here is a description of a time in the past when the Crusaders, a group of superheroes in the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes, faced off against Doctor Diablo, a supervillain:
It was a dark and stormy night in Freedom City, and the city was under attack by Doctor Diablo and his minions. The villain had summoned a horde of demons to do his bidding, and the streets were filled with chaos and destruction.
The Crusaders, a team of powerful heroes led by Captain Thunder, were quick to respond to the crisis. They flew into action, using their powers and skills to fight back against Doctor Diablo and his forces.
Manta Man, a member of the Crusaders with the ability to transform into a giant manta ray, used his aquatic powers to take on Doctor Diablo's demon minions, while the Silver Sentinel and the Green Guardian worked to protect the city's civilians from harm.
Despite the team's best efforts, Doctor Diablo proved to be a formidable opponent. He used his dark magic and mind control powers to try and bend the Crusaders to his will, and he summoned a giant demon to fight alongside him.
The battle raged on for hours, and it seemed that the outcome was uncertain. But just when all seemed lost, the Crimson Crusader arrived on the scene, bringing with her a powerful magical artifact that she had been searching for.
With the artifact in hand, the Crimson Crusader was able to break Doctor Diablo's hold on the other Crusaders and turn the tide of the battle. Together, the team was able to defeat Doctor Diablo and his minions, saving Freedom City from his evil plans.
This is just one possible example of a time when the Crusaders faced off against Doctor Diablo in the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes. The specific details of the encounter may vary depending on the needs and preferences of the game. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hang on. That’s not manta man’s powers. And he’s the leader of the crusaders, isn’t he?

I apologize for the mistake in my previous response. Manta Man is not a member of the Crusaders and does not have the ability to transform into a giant manta ray. Manta Man is actually a villain in the Villains and Vigilantes role-playing game, and his powers are related to the manipulation of water and the use of aquatic-themed gadgets and weapons.
Additionally, Captain Thunder is the leader of the Crusaders, not Manta Man. Captain Thunder is a powerful superhero with a range of abilities, including superhuman strength, durability, and flight. He is the head of the Crusaders and is responsible for leading the team in their efforts to protect Freedom City from threats and villains.
I apologize for any confusion my previous response may have caused. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

When did captain thunder become the leader?

In the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes (V&V), Captain Thunder is the leader of the Crusaders, a group of superheroes who work together to protect the city of Freedom City from threats and villains. The specific circumstances of Captain Thunder's rise to leadership are not specified in the game, but it is likely that he became the leader of the Crusaders at some point in the past, before the events of the game.
In the V&V universe, Captain Thunder is depicted as a powerful and respected leader who is admired by his fellow Crusaders and the people of Freedom City. He is a hero who is willing to put himself in harm's way to protect others, and he is known for his bravery, integrity, and compassion.
I hope this information is helpful! If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

What supplements is captain thunder from?

In the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes (V&V), Captain Thunder is a character who appears in various supplements and sourcebooks for the game. These supplements provide additional information and resources for players and game masters, and they may include new rules, characters, adventures, and other elements that can be used in the game.
Here is a list of some of the V&V supplements that Captain Thunder appears in:
* The V&V Superhero Role-Playing Game: This is the core rulebook for the game, and it includes information on the basic rules, character creation, and the setting of Freedom City. Captain Thunder is featured as one of the Crusaders, a team of superheroes who protect the city from threats and villains.
* The Crusaders: A Guide to Freedom City's Protectors: This supplement provides more detailed information about the Crusaders, including their histories, powers, and personalities. It also includes descriptions of other heroes who are members of the team, such as the Silver Sentinel, the Green Guardian, and the Crimson Crusader.
* The Villains of Freedom City: This supplement provides information on a variety of villains who are a threat to Freedom City and its heroes. Doctor Diablo, a supervillain that I generated earlier, is featured in this supplement as one of the villains who has clashed with the Crusaders and other heroes in the past.
* The Freedom City Campaign Setting: This supplement provides a more detailed look at the setting of Freedom City, including its history, geography, and culture. It also includes information on various organizations, locations, and other elements of the city that may be relevant to the game.
I hope this information is helpful! If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

Oh I see. You’re making up the crusaders based on doctor Diablo. Do you know the crusaders roster from the published books?

I apologize for any confusion my previous responses may have caused. The Crusaders are a group of superheroes who appear in the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes (V&V), and they are a popular and iconic part of the game's setting and lore. Doctor Diablo is a villain that I generated earlier in our conversation as an example of a character that could be used in the game, and he is not a member of the Crusaders.
The Crusaders are led by Captain Thunder, and the team includes other powerful heroes such as the Silver Sentinel, the Green Guardian, and the Crimson Crusader. These characters are featured in various supplements and sourcebooks for the game, and they are described as powerful and respected heroes who work together to protect Freedom City from threats and villains.
I do not have access to all of the published materials for V&V, so I cannot provide a complete roster of the Crusaders or other characters that appear in the game. If you have any specific questions about the Crusaders or other elements of the game, I would be happy to do my best to assist you.

Got it. Have you heard of Enforcer - a hero from V&V who is a member of the Crusaders?

Yes, Enforcer is a character who appears in the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes (V&V). According to the information that is available, Enforcer is a member of the Crusaders, a team of superheroes who work together to protect the city of Freedom City from threats and villains.
Enforcer is described as a powerful and highly skilled hero who is known for his combat prowess and his ability to use a variety of weapons and gadgets. He is often called upon to take on the toughest and most dangerous missions, and he is respected by his fellow Crusaders for his bravery and determination.
I do not have access to all of the published materials for V&V, so I cannot provide detailed information about Enforcer's powers or background. However, I hope this general information is helpful! If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

That’s accurate actually. Except the Crusaders are based in Center City

I apologize for the mistake in my previous response. You are correct that the Crusaders, a group of superheroes in the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes (V&V), are based in Center City, not Freedom City.
Center City is the main setting for V&V, and it is a fictional metropolis that is home to a wide variety of heroes and villains. The Crusaders are a team of powerful and respected heroes who work together to protect the city from threats and dangers. They are led by Captain Thunder, and the team includes other powerful heroes such as the Silver Sentinel, the Green Guardian, and the Crimson Crusader.
I apologize for any confusion my previous response may have caused. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

That’s okay. Have you heard about Evergreen, a hero who is also one of the Crusaders?

I apologize, but I am not familiar with a character named Evergreen who is a member of the Crusaders in the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes (V&V). The Crusaders are a team of superheroes who are based in Center City, the main setting for V&V, and they are led by Captain Thunder. The team includes other powerful heroes such as the Silver Sentinel, the Green Guardian, and the Crimson Crusader.
It is possible that Evergreen is a character who appears in a supplement or sourcebook for V&V that I am not aware of. V&V has a large and expansive setting with many characters and elements, and it is possible that there are characters and details that I am not familiar with.
I apologize if this information is not helpful. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

Do you know about Dreamweaver also in the crusaders?

I apologize, but I am not familiar with a character named Dreamweaver who is a member of the Crusaders in the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes (V&V). The Crusaders are a team of superheroes who are based in Center City, the main setting for V&V, and they are led by Captain Thunder. The team includes other powerful heroes such as the Silver Sentinel, the Green Guardian, and the Crimson Crusader.

How about Manta Man aka Carter Manning?

Manta Man, also known as Carter Manning, is a character who appears in the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes (V&V). Manta Man is a villain who is known for his aquatic-themed gadgets and weapons, as well as his ability to manipulate water. He is a formidable opponent who has clashed with the Crusaders and other heroes in the past.
Despite his villainous nature, Manta Man is not a member of the Crusaders, a team of superheroes who work together to protect the city of Center City from threats and dangers. The Crusaders are led by Captain Thunder and include other powerful heroes such as the Silver Sentinel, the Green Guardian, and the Crimson Crusader.
I hope this information is helpful! If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

Wait. Manta Man is a hero. He is an aquatic themed character, yes but he’s more like Batman in that he’s rich and well trained and uses a lot of cool gadgets. Except, you know, manta themed

I apologize for any confusion caused by my previous responses. You are correct that Manta Man, also known as Carter Manning, is a hero in the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes (V&V). Manta Man is an aquatic-themed hero who is known for his use of manta-ray-themed gadgets and weapons, as well as his ability to manipulate water. He is a skilled and resourceful hero who is often called upon to take on tough and dangerous missions.
Manta Man is not a member of the Crusaders, a team of superheroes who work together to protect the city of Center City from threats and dangers. However, he is a respected and admired hero in the V&V universe, and he is known for his bravery, determination, and intelligence.

You don’t need to apologize all the time. Okay, let’s define the members of the Crusaders as Manta Man who is the leader. We already talked about him. Enforcer you already know too. Evergreen is a female plant power archetype. She’s like an anthropomorphic force of nature. Dreamweaver has got powers of illusion and subtle manipulations. Those characters are all from the V&V books.

Thank you for providing more information about the Crusaders, a team of superheroes in the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes (V&V). Based on the information you have provided, the Crusaders are led by Manta Man, who is an aquatic-themed hero who is known for his use of manta-ray-themed gadgets and weapons, as well as his ability to manipulate water.
Other members of the Crusaders include Enforcer, a hero who is known for his combat prowess and his ability to use a variety of weapons and gadgets; Evergreen, a female hero who has plant-based powers and is an anthropomorphic force of nature; and Dreamweaver, a hero who has powers of illusion and subtle manipulation.
I hope this information is helpful! If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

Yes but manta man can’t manipulate water. He does have electro blasts that can shock or stun though.

I apologize for any mistakes in my previous responses. You are correct that Manta Man, also known as Carter Manning, is a hero in the role-playing game Villains and Vigilantes (V&V) who does not have the ability to manipulate water. Instead, Manta Man is known for his use of manta-ray-themed gadgets and weapons, as well as his ability to generate powerful electro-blasts that can shock or stun his opponents.

Thus far, I've experienced it be not dissimilar to how I'd use a deck of tarot cards to help me brainstorm when I was writing. Stuck in resolving a chapter? Unsure what happens next? Don't know where to go? Just lay out three cards and see if the combination of random imagery and symbolism jogs anything and gets the writing going again.

Yeah, that's great. During an "office hours" session on Discord, David Holz (MJ CEO) talked a bit about Midjourney as an "imagination augmenter" rather than a wholesale replacement for imagination/creativity, which I like. Limited AI that aids in brainstorming is the sweet spot for me in terms of how I enjoy using it and seeing others use it.

The "In the World" Midjourney Discord channel is full of stuff people have used text-to-image tech for in their businesses and hobbyist stuff. It's only a matter of time until the first salable Monster Manual or Expanded Spellbook whatever that uses GPT-3 comes out, I think.

Yeah I read most of it as it came out of the AI, some stuff I regenerated and its already gone. But It still needs a lot of editing. Some of the abilities are obviously broken and unbalanced, but I'm kind of leaning into that and making it a joke book like Grimtooths. The joke being that it is a huge book full of absurd things that came out of a magic mirrior or some kind of enchanted printing press. I'm only going to charge a few bucks for it, thats all its worth as far as my effort

here is some of the art I have been making. I'm going to replace the gibberish text with jokes generated by GPT3

Yeah, just at a glance, I've noticed it's got a spell called "Emerald Ray of Reversal" about 4 times, listed as a 6th, 3rd, and 4th level spell.

Which is about on par with the machine, despite being fed two of my previous novels featuring the same setting and characters for my "experiment", being unable to remember the gender of the novel's protagonist, regularly mixing up the protagonist and antagonist factions, continually trying to introduce spaceships into a low magic fantasy "swords and cellphones" setting, repeatedly misunderstanding the personality and temperment of the protagonist (think trying to write Elric of Melniboné as though he were Caramon Majere), and, somewhat worringly, trying to write a female lesbian character as if she were male.

It can certainly produce a lot of prose, but how much of it is useful to the story or coherent without a lot of editing is debatable, and the RoI on editing out 90% of the unusable and rewriting the remaining 10% to be less purple and to vibe with the previous sections vs. just writing what's in my head...

I like it for brainstorming, and it's fun to play with, but for doing the actual work? Not so much...

Oh, the duplicates are becuase that was the spell I fed to the AI as an example. When making content you want to give an example so the AI copies the format. Otherwise you'll end up with sections of spells missing material components or spell level or something. I need to remove the duplicates and put everything in order and make an index.

So I've been prepping to run the Godbound adventure Ten Buried Blades in Roll20.

quote:

In the market town of Gongfang a restless magistrate oppresses the people, forcing them to surrender sons and daughters to serve a mysterious sorcerer on Red Crow Mountain. In the countryside, a wealthy rice broker torments the common folk with his extortionate exactions, driving the desperate into the forest to escape his thugs and bandits. And beneath those green boughs there are whispers of an illicit god, of a Golden Lord who will bring justice to the afflicted. Gongfang's fragile peace cannot last. But who will strike the blow that ends it, and who will pick up the fragments that remain?

I've tried running it in PbP years ago, but that died as PbP games usually do. (Especially if I play and/or run them.) This time, I've spent the past week or so on the most important prep I can think of - feverishly cranking out portraits for every NPC instead of, like, doing any actual game prep. I might or might not actually prefer the "gently caress around generating portraits" part to the "actually gm the game" part.

I can't really justify forking out $30 a month for Midjourney (not throwing shade on anyone who does) and I do enjoy having the alternative of cranking stuff out on my PC and the problem solving off refining SD prompts, so I've been mostly generating portraits with Stable Diffusion, falling back to my $10 a month Midjourney subscription if I couldn't get the results I wanted on SD.

The SD pics have mostly been generated with the Arcane Diffusion model using variations of my go-to NPC portrait generating prompt:

quote:

chest-high bust portrait of a photorealistic [DESCRIPTION OF CHARACTER], dim lighting, hyperrealistic, blank background, Ruan Jia, Jean Baptiste Monge, Ismail Inceoglu, Don Bluth, Brian Kesinger, artstation

I've had to figure out how to actually make them appropriately dressed and ended up with "dressed in plain, simple hanfu" and "gold, ornamentation" in the negative prompts. If you just do "hanfu", everybody ends up dressed like Chinese royalty. I also cast famous people and then change their age, race and gender to break out of same-face-syndrome and convey certain qualities of character, without everyone obviously being a celebrity.

Anyway, here are the main players of the story. There will be spoilers:

The rather crooked Magistrate Li, his conniving and childless wife Madame Liao, and his nubile, fertile and incredibly naive concubine Plum Blossom.

I've tried to give the Magistrate the classic futou hat Chinese officials wore (see below), but the AI refused to even redraw a photo of one in more painterly style, much less make a character wear one, and I am too lazy to do it in a photo-editing app. Still, I like his look. He looks competent and neither too villanous, nor babyface'd. Also, this is actually 'Donald Sutherland as an asian man'.

The wife is a minor character, so I just did a few "forty-year-old stern scowling asian woman as a Tang Dynasty noblewoman in hanfu" and called it a day.

Plum Blossom is the only portait I ended up taking from the internet. (With permission.) She's supposed to be a young woman from a Roman Empire Expy But With Black People, who ended up as a concubine in the neighboring Tang Empire Expy. I spent a lot of time generating pretty dark-skinned girls, but something was missing. Then I saw this one and thought "oh, attractive african-ish girl in euro clothes, flowers look plum blossom-y, let's just go with this one."

Big Feet Zu, the local rice broker, crime boss, extortion racketeer and slave trader. Two of his mooks, Oxhead Po and Ji Number Three, who you meet brawling because they're both having a crisis of conscience and don't realize so is the other guy.

From the module: "Zu himself is an elderly man with stained yellow teeth and the dead eyes of a man utterly indifferent to human suffering. He speaks in a courteous and reasonable manner and is invariably polite to all who encounter him." I wanted someone who really has that "cruel degenerate" look, so I used that piece of poo poo Klaus Kinski for his face. SD gave him a purple pimp hat and I thought... "you know, why not? It's an interesting character touch."

Oxhead Po was having a great old time doing Very Bad Things to the slaves before they're shipped of, but there was a woman from his village in the newest shipment and something snapped inside him, so now he wants to help her and run away with her. He's also a piece of poo poo, so I thought it would be funny if he also was Klaus Kinski.

Ji Number Three is not Klaus Kinski. He is, of course, Wayne Rooney. He's having second thoughts about joining the thugs and he's had enough of the things Oxhead Po does to women, so we meet him beating the poo poo out of Po to make sure he doesn't go anywhere near the slaves again. (Dramatic irony!)

Real Man Xiao is the main villain here. He's spent the last two centuries doing terrible things to prolong his lifespan and at this point the returns are so diminishing that he's running out of time, so his experiments are turning increasingly desperate. His description in the book is more pathetic than intimidating and I've spent several days trying to generate something that worked, but then I thought "gently caress it, let's just make him look cool." So now he looks like Shang Tsung.

Perfected Woman Wen is his lover-disciple who is waiting for a chance to stab him in the back. You can probably tell is Lauren Bacall. I think this portrait is, cough, kinda hot tbqh.

The Golden Lord is an ancient hologram that had the personality (but not the free will) of an ancient hero implanted into it. It has a huge grudge against the ancestors of this empire and a directive to spread the ways of its extinct people, so it's been training the peasants into an army. Took me a bit to generate something I like and, as it always happens, it doesn't quite match the description in the book, but I really like this portrait.

Finally, the system handles large groups of mooks as single Mob enemies, so here are the Magistrate's guards, Zu's thugs, Real Man Xiao's desperate students and Golden Lord's cultists. All done in Midjourney, because SD can't handle groups of people yet, using "a group of [whatever], art by eduardo risso, blank background"

Draft 2 of Malidrex Grand Grimoire! This one is considerably more useful, everything is in alphabetical order! So you can actually find things lol. I severely underestimated the amount of duplicate text, this draft is only 290 pages (without art). I've also been fooling around with a cover image, I donno if I want to go creepy or cartoony:

So I've been prepping to run the Godbound adventure Ten Buried Blades in Roll20. I've spent the past week or so on the most important prep I can think of - feverishly cranking out portraits for every NPC instead of, like, doing any actual game prep.

The first session went okay. Now I have time to write this post instead of prepping!

So in addition to the main characters, the module also a page's worth of one sentence descriptions of optional NPCs you can plug in for flavor. Obviously I generated all of them as well. With some of these, as it goes, I used a picture I really liked even if it didn't quite fit.

The Smoking Girl. In the inciting incident of the adventure, a girl rapidly burning up into corrupted Yin Qi descends from the sky and desperately tries to warn the locals, before exploding into foul smoke. (Unless she is saved.)

Auntie Wei, a middle-aged matchmaker who knows every private scandal in Gongfang. Fat, beaming, and unctuous.

Blue-Button Mei, an elderly seller of ribbons, notions, and trinkets. She has justification for getting into any house’s female quarters, and often serves as a go-between for “private meetings” at the local shrine. Cultivates an air of doddering harmlessness, but has a sharp mind.

Crooked Zhong (“chong”), a charcoal-burner, now the Golden Lord’s priest.

Feng the Invincible, a young hooligan born with a strange dislocation of destiny; he always loses every fight he ever gets in, but due to some chance turn of events he never suffers serious injury. Only an appropriate divine miracle can overcome this fated survival.

Fishmonger Chin, rancid seller of river catfish, pesters strangers incessantly to buy a fish, if only to make the reeking young man go away. Seems totally oblivious to physical threats or dangers.

Ivan Szabo, a fur trader from Raktia who privately hates all Dulimbaians for their former conquest of his homeland. Will quietly help anyone who seems to be hurting them.

Marika Toth, a half-Raktian prostitute both beautiful and bitter. Has contacts among many of Gongfang’s elite, but desperately wants to leave both Dulimbai and Raktia, as she is accepted in neither place.

Mother Hao, a plump, sweet-mannered old procuress who keeps a house with her “daughters” inside town. Actually as heartless as any street pimp, and deals information to Big Feet Zu about likely marks or trouble. Her slave girls are terrified of her wrath; she sells the troublemakers to Xiao.

Old Father Lu, the oldest man in Gongfang at 107 years of age, astonishingly spry, gives oracular warnings and sage counsel that is always plausible yet catastrophically wrong. Locals pretend to hang on his every word but then discreetly ignore his advice.

Red Cap Hong, a skinny Taoist priest who sells folk-magic cures, lucky talismans, and exorcisms. Knows what Real Man Xiao is trying to do and can guess at his powers, but is too afraid to be seen opposing him.

Venerable Wan, a middle-aged priest with a patchy beard responsible for tending the shrine to Gongfang’s ancestral founders. His daughter was taken by Xiao as a “volunteer” and he is desperate to recover her, or at least learn her fate. He is greatly respected by the common folk of the town.

Xia Ming, a beautiful and tubercular young woman of good family, morbidly obsessed with her inevitable early death. Writes bad poetry, and is eager to do something important or romantically dramatic before she dies.

Xiang the Axe, a burly woodcutter who knows the location of many camps of Golden Lord devotees. Won’t willingly talk unless he gets drunk.

The stars aren't in the right places.
That's a very nice cast. I like the chubby matchmaker lady's expression a lot somehow. Hope you let us know how the campaign is going!

The SD D&D model's creator released a new version and also said he had to pull the kobolds out of it, because they broke it, and I made this for him:

That's, gods forgive me, "Rebel Wilson as asian woman". Here's the other one I liked, but ultimately didn't use:

This is probably going to be 2-4 sessions long, so I'll try to write up what happened when it's done.

EDIT: lol, someone's salty
