Mode 7 posted:I try to be positive about F1 but gently caress me that race sucked. I fell asleep somewhere around lap 40 due to boredom, woke up just before Checo crossed the finish line, hadn't missed poo poo. Surprised I didn't fall asleep earlier to be honest. All the middle east tracks are snoozefests. Baku City Circuit has the tight corner, but after the 1st lap nothing happens.

The budget cap should be variable and change so the teams that lose all the time can spend more money to catchup. Today's parade laps were not very exciting IMO.

Judge Schnoopy posted:Lap 18/62, from third place, Russell calls to his team: I think this is a pretty nonsense take on it. Teams have strategies and plans for where they think they will likely finish the race at the start of the race. They are most certainly calculating everything at lap 18 with what their best target finish is and how to get there. Russell was pretty much just asking the team strategists what his pace needed to be for the tires to give him the a chance to be in position to win the race. Ferrari spent the first half of the race trying to get Leclerc to leave a 3 second gap to Sainz so they'd have the best chance at winning the race themselves. Russell crashing and crying though is pretty funny.

Skarsnik posted:Has there not been a race in the past where a driver was sent back out after retirement to go for the fastest lap I could see a team trying it just to take a fastest lap from another team. Although I assume it would be hard to compete for the fastest lap if the car still is loaded up with fuel for laps you didn't run cause you were in the garage. For the reason, I'd assume it'd be pretty unlikely.

How did they spend a year repaving the roads and making F1 grade without checking their manholes too? Those mistakes get real lovely real quick. Wait which manhole are we talking about now?

Endymion FRS MK1 posted:Looked at the final season stats and Max has double the points of second place, and more than second and third combined. Don’t think that happened in Merc Dominance. Didn’t check the Vettelreich Max led 1003 of the 1391 GP laps this season, along with 0 DNFs. Complete dominance that probably won't be matched anytime soon, unless he does it again next year I guess.
