I got my avatar for being banned by accident. Absolutely worth it.

Why the gently caress would you want to be a gibbis shepherd? I don't ever want to be an IK or mod, that sounds awful.

Also I have a feedback: I would like a picture of a Pikachu please.

There's no such thing as crews, there's only bad posters, and me.

If you disagree with me you should be banned. You know what, just make me a mod or admin. I won't do any actual moderating but I will instantly go into a blinding rage from power. I think that's something we can all enjoy.

lol I dunno why anyone would get surprised at the forum equivalent of "I'm gonna keep putting my arm in this crocodile's mouth, no way it'll bite it off lol" resulting in said arm being removed.

GBS is great for shitposting and the jokes and whatnot but if someone goes into Pet Island making posts about how owning animals means you're a sociopath, or going to AI to tell them that cars mean you can't provide for a family, or whatever else then no one should ever be surprised at the outcome lol

He didn't (I think, I don't exactly track his posts, they sort of appear like accidentally stepping in something out in a run), I think he just got nabbed by posting about how Xbox sucks in the dedicated Xbox thread which like, come on, what did you think would happen lmao

I have never read the Ukraine thread but it sounds like if you want to cut down on reasons to ban people, or alternatively (and my preference) to increase the amount of bans, you should look there, because it seems every other person is complaining about it in some way or another.

I would recommend a blanket rule of not gassing the thread, but just auto-probing anyone who posts there for a sixer. That way if people think what they have to say is really important they can weigh it up ahead of time.

You're welcome.

Lol you can see my posts in it where I tried to take it in good spirit and then noped out by page two.

I genuinely didn't expect it to be what it turned out to be. Because I figured posting straight up horny furry art wasn't allowed.

In the end I was right I guess? That thread got weird quick.

Also look, I ended up noping out of the thread because horny furry art ain't my schtick, but also realistically it isn't even the worst offending *type* of thread that gets made on the forums at large.

Like gas, give a week, whatever. It isn't like it's a thread about a child harem anime, or a game designed to make you emotionally sick, or filled with people trying to groom or prey on posters. Getting slapped with a "naughty, no, don't do it again" for a week and moving the gently caress on is pretty appropriate as a response because I wasn't personally a fan of it very quickly, but also it's just some loving furry art.

This is the forum where we praise the anal gape dude. And (to my knowledge) at least all the characters were even well of age, which puts it above a lot of other poo poo.

What the gently caress does this even mean?

The other problem is the more you expand, clarify and specify rules the more annoying nerds use it to try and rules lawyer then being dicks because they think the internet follows the same rules as their debate teams. "I didn't *technically* break any rules so therefore you can't ban me!" Wah wah, gently caress off.

Follow the spirit of the rules, not the letter.

Drone_Fragger posted:

No, but "no posting fetish porn" as a rule after the deviantart debacle would ot solved this problem neatly.

Additional mods are fine, just don't let people who only complain about a forum pick the mod. It's like if someone opened a thread to get a new mod the TFR and everyone who posted hated guns, and then they suggest a mod, who you know will hate guns, because the goal isn't to moderate the forum, it's to change it to something they actually approve of.

Also yeah, permaban and IP ban driftingmouse, the idea he is getting his jollies off posting weird lovely obituaries and having people be a part of that is loving weird and uncomfortable.

Also Nooner, Smugworth and Literally a Person. Just make them mods and if they gently caress up just de-mod them it isn't a big deal jfc.

The biggest lol dumbass galaxy brain move would be letting the people who only complain pick a mod, because lmao. It's like letting racists pick who heads a minority focused charity lol.

Also I am perfectly aware LAP was a mod, I remember the drunk sticky spree. I didn't think y'all would take it so seriously lol.

Realistically I don't think it's necessarily a good idea to pool the audience for suggestions for mods. I'm sure Seth, Aardo and co are perfectly capable of identifying people who can do the job. I really don't encourage them to take suggestions from posters, who are all far more biased and with their own interests, regardless of where they normally post.

Really hope the mods are not doing a wordcloud of usernames for mod submissions. Please, Seth, tell me you aren't doing exactly that, and definitely do not post images of exactly that.

If you're gonna use it just be funny geez it isn't loving hard. When I posted about it my point was it was never used for anything but "waaaah :qq:"

If your posting uses offensive terms as a crutch and you struggle to post without them then just don't post. LAP has posted more constructive things than the nerds melting down over their posting styles.

In a Pride thread: "this thread is gay :kimchi:"
In a thread you don't like: "This thread is fucken gay."

In an anecdotes thread: "my uncle struggled with aids during the Reagan administration and it was awful."
In a thread you don't like: "this thread is aids."

If you can't figure out the contextual difference as well as being able to extrapolate to appropriate other scenarios then I don't think you're ready for the world hth.

I've seen people get upset about this type of thing over and over, and I legitimately don't understand the issue. That Smugworth has permanently ruined Arf's reputation because someone may think he smells his own farts?

We're a forum that celebrates the ability to change people's avatars so that every time they post, it appears they're telling the world they're a dumb bozo that smells their own farts. Why would we treat posts as sacrosanct?

Because free speech, I paid ten bux, this is fascism, etc. I think that pretty much sums it up.

Nom epique and similar posters repeatedly posted poo poo they were told not to in threads they were told to knock it off in. It went from multiple probes to bans. And justifiably so.

Why is this not a thing that's happening? Seeing people rack up a half dozen probes in as many days because they're having meltdowns on their so sovereign posting rights being infringed and making it clear they're gonna keep doing it why deal with the children throwing tantrums? gently caress it, just ban em and move on, no actual loss.
