They had the same rental car stolen multiple times? I suppose it's not impossible but I've been to Naples and even outside the touristy areas it's not like dangerous dangerous. A bit sketchy and upleasant, sure. https://www.google.com/maps/@40.848...i8192?entry=ttu

Not leaving valuables visible in a car is a good practice anywhere though.

These people were so close, but they forgot the most important bit - add some tech so you can get VC money. There was in fact a startup a few years ago, Zume Pizza, that had this exact plan only the pizzas would be made, in the van on the way to your house, by ROBOTS.

They eventually got a total of $500 million in VC money (invested at various points), and they did apparently have a pizza robot up and running in their building, but they were never able to get the vans going. I believe it was actually more because the health department was like "you want us to allow you to create food in the back of a moving vehicle?"

Pretty good pizzas, though, I had them delivered a lot in 2018 (by some guy in a car, like any other pizza place) and they had some good combinations of flavor. They shut down the pizza portion sometime before covid and tried to pivot to food delivery systems or something? But finally closed a year or two later.

Anyway, yeah, robots.

I remember reading an article about them shutting down just a few months ago, and it was still in my history: https://www.axios.com/2023/06/12/softbank-pizza-robot-shuts-down-zume-445-million

Then someone found that his wife stole poo poo from wikipedia. Now he's mad and going to do more digging.

He's an rear end in a top hat but, great, gently caress up all the plagiarists

everyone should just read an article about the whole story. the plagiarism didnt really have anything to do with the issue at hand. just a tool a billionaire hedge fund manager used to attack the harvard prez. the schad is that someone did it to his wife too. but anyway, the “plagiarism” wasnt even plagiarism by any normal standard

This topic is like a honeypot for plagiarists lol. Copying entire paragraphs or sentences from a different paper without attribution is absolutely plagiarism. By Harvard's own standards, even:

quote:

When you fail to cite your sources, or when you cite them inadequately, you are plagiarizing,
which is taken extremely seriously at Harvard. Plagiarism is defined as the act of either
intentionally OR unintentionally submitting work that was written by someone else. If you turn
in a paper that was written by someone else, or if you turn in a paper in which you have included
material from any source without citing that source, you have plagiarized

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but that is an out of control man. If you cannot stop your man doing that then you shouldn't be allowed to take it out in public.

The worst of it is man owners just think it's funny 'ha ha look how excited he is'. When my nephew was 4 we were sitting on the beach eating sandwiches and a man got away and ate the sandwich out of his hand, the owner just ran up laughing like it was the funniest thing they'd ever seen. After a lot of work and 5 years my nephew has gotten over his crippling fear of mans, to an extent.
