I once had an American gun owner mock my, as he called it "emasculated Eurowisdom," for suggesting that needing to carry two guns everywhere for personal safety seemed "kind of paranoid."

So clearly us non-gun-havers know nothing. They've got it all figured out.

Well yeah, what are you gonna do when you get two criminals with guns running at you from two different directions? Checkmate, Europe :chord:

People are loving morons.

One guy did it one time and shot himself in the dick and it went viral so now a bunch of other dudes have to do it to show how much better they are at pointing a loaded gun at their dick and not shooting their own dick off.

Apparently this is a thing on gun nut twitter when they try to show off their "trigger pull discipline" in increasingly bizarre ways. Anyway, the conclusion was inevitable.

So, in the gun world "trigger discipline" means keeping your finger out of the trigger guard until you're ready to shoot as a matter of habit, so you default to safe behavior even while acting thoughtlessly. People online will chide randos for posing for a photo with, like, a star wars blaster if their finger is on the trigger. Basically, it's macho one upsmanship channeled into safety culture.

There's a certain kind of person that sees this happen and posts pictures of them being unsafe to trigger the pussies who care about safety. "Like my trigger discipline? :smuggo:"

So, the thing about this bit in the movie is that it misrepresents the actual incident, and the actual incident is much funnier and better. In the real incident, the guy wasn't being an unsafe, macho shithead, they were using different safety procedures that the officer was too dense to understand.

I'm always gonna remember the American guy who wrote a letter to a newspaper in Calgary that he felt unsafe without his gun because people wouldn't stop asking him about the Stampede and the barkers for it were "too aggressive". Imagine feeling the need to carry a gun so people won't ask you to the rodeo.

I dunno. When you put it that way, having a magical talisman to wear that causes touts to gently caress off and leave you alone does sound kind of nice.

I mean, that is funnier in that the captain not understanding how the safety works.

But also I hate the delta safety thing. Cause yes, if everything is working right you can't put it on safe in that condition. But if poo poo isn't working right it might also not go on safe because you've got sand in your safety selector and you've got a round in the chamber.

And either way, you're still having to rack the bolt which is the only time consuming part of getting ready to fire in either situation.

Also I will fite anyone who says glock's have safeties because if you disengage the safety by pulling the trigger it's not a safety gently caress off.

Its an internet subculture where people try to show how good they are at handling guns by aiming their gun at their dick and slightly pulling the trigger but not enough to fire it. Anybody who would do this is an idiot though so they end up shooting their dick.
