The real clickbait juice is La Canfora projecting six QBs in round one, including JJ at 2:

1. Caleb Williams, Chicago
2. JJ McCarthy, Washington
3. Jayden Daniels, Giants
4, Drake Maye, Vikings
13. Michael Penix Jr., Las Vegas
30. Bo Nix, Denver

I can't read the article. What compensation would the Broncos get to drop back? I love the idea and getting Bo Nix at 30 would be dope.

Brisco has the Pats trading down with the Giants, the Giants then taking Maye and the Patriots JJ after trading back. That's a very elegant solution. (For what it's worth he ALSO has the Chargers taking JC Latham, and the Eagles trading up for Terrion with the the Broncos trading back and getting Nix at 22). He also has Jaden Hicks in the first round, which would surprise me.

I'm starting to become convinced that 6 QBs in the first round is at least possible. With the Bears, Commanders, Patriots, Raiders, Broncos, Vikings and potentially the Giants looking for a QB, that leaves one odd man out UNLESS the Giants or Patriots decide not to go that direction.

plz plz plz

Yeah I think JJ and Penix can actually be decent starters in the NFL if they hit near their maximium percentile outcome.

If Bo Nix hits his maximium I think he is like Gardner Minshew?

I think Bo Nix being aged like a fine wine is better because he's more mature and likelier to respond positively to Sean Payton's horrific machinations.

I just read this article: https://theathletic.com/5448295/2024/04/26/broncos-bo-nix-sean-payton/?source=freedailyemail&campaign=601983&userId=12901618

This bit specifically gets me curious:

quote:

Some things about Nix stood out immediately. His completion rate of 77.45 percent last season set an FBS record. The offense at Oregon called for a healthy diet of bubble screens and other throws near the line of scrimmage that allowed playmakers to operate in space. So Payton and Broncos general manager George Paton directed the team’s analytics staff to build a model that removed those short throws from the data set of every quarterback in the class. When the numbers bounced back — Payton didn’t share exact filters of the search — they showed Nix at or near the top of the class in efficiency with intermediate and deep routes.

I know there are tools out there - is this something we can replicate to see what he's seeing, if it's bullshit or not?

It's not bullshit, but it's misleading.

He like Mac Jones and other college QBs have absurdly high "efficiency" deep and intermediate because he just never tries to loving throw it if it's not WAO.

I love draft grades because it's the dumbest garbage and they are always funny. How can anyone look the bears being consensus best boys at drafting by virtue of having #1 and 9# overall while completely handwaving the punter pick in the 4th round and say yep this is a very serious and meaningful endeavour.

Um have you seen other teams spend their 1sts?? Not even this draft in particular but historically speaking there's no guarantees.
