My first thought went to the 'FBI raids insurrectionists, turns out everyone is an undercover agent' greentext, but there's no way Tats put anywhere near as much thought into his comics as you just did.

Theres not a lot confrimed, but from what I've heard from people with Ukrainian security contacts-

He was in Ukraine spreading pro Russian material
War happens, he shifts to providing information to Russia
He's arrested, immediately flips on his Russian comtacts, and in exchange is escorted out of the country via Poland
... then he came back, kept doing it, got arrested again but released. They kept his passport and told him to do nothing while they investigate, and they'd be back

Then this happened, which is what put him on the conservative anti-Ukraine pundit radar
https://twitter.com/GonzaloLira1968/status/1686140929277579271?t=4HIfIOh4ld2E0zc7I095Ug&s=19

He made it to the border and was arrested again.

Bonus material- the reason he was in Ukraine originally? He was a 'pickup artist' and Ukraine was seen as the best place to pickup women due to how hosed the economy was. A true hero.

Who the gently caress gives a poo poo about Franking Credits? Fuckwits brain is stuck on the 2019 election...

For non Aussies- one election saw Labor announce changes to certain tax breaks if they won the next election. One thing that was tabled was Franking Credits, which immediately led to the LNP running scare campaigns of 'Labor is gonna steal all your money, you EARNED those credits'.

Labor lost, and while theres nothing suggesting it was just from this scare campaign, within a week I was hearing from mates who work for Centrelink that they received several calls, from older Australians, demanding their Franking credits. Said mates didn't follow the election that close and had no loving idea what they were talking about.

I also have no idea what they are, honestly. Something to do with a tax return for investments, if the company already paid tax for the profits... point is, it wasn't that common, but the Libs went hard making it seem like this was taking money from all Australians, instead of mostly the rich with large investment portfolios. ie. their donors and voting base

Negative gearing can also gently caress off at this point- it was a mechanism to give tax breaks to families that bought an investment property, and instantly became the tool for the rich to buy 20 homes and not pay any tax, which is a part cause of our housing crisis atm.

So in summary it's racist. Thanks for the explanation though. Are boats actually arriving en masse on Australian shores or is this just fearmongering?

Going off mates in the ADF, the absolute most that has ever happened was a handful of people that bought the Liberal propaganda, that Labor would let all the boats come in if they were elected. So something like 2 boats came over shortly after Labor won the 2022, and were stopped in Australian waters by the RAN because, you know, Labor were the ones who started Sovereign Borders and off-shore detention for refugees in the first place, so why would they stop?

Otherwise, assume it's a scare campaign from the 'brown people bad' parties of LNP, One Nation, and that one with the guy who tried copying Trump. Like when they announced a boat arrived ON ELECTION DAY, and mass texted people to vote Liberal to stop this from happening (ignoring that the Libs were in power at the time still...)

America will solve the South China Sea and China will solve West Australia. Good to know.

e: that said, Australia looks a bit hosed up and New Zealand isn't where it should be at all, so clearly the message is that the US and China have collectively hosed up the earth and can't be trusted to solve it

Cooker theory- the missing piece being in WA is them admitting that the various airfields constructed in the norwest will be the next target for China, after their buyout of Darwin, which will allow the PRC to rapidly send in the PLA to seize Perth and control all of our iron ore, natural gas, lithium and gold for shipping back to China.

Also the Philippines void is a metaphor for how China plans to 'end' the fighting over South China Sea islands.

So an interesting quirk of using AI to write stories, from comments of people who have tried- because it's just trying to predict the next word, it has a tendency when creating fiction to simply link random plot points that ignore whatever came before it, or entering a circular logic loop, where characters are constantly talking about almost being ready to maybe possibly go and do a thing, which will definitely happen. Repeat for a dozen pages.

So I can believe Stantis and co have handed over part of the creation process to AI, based on those two.
