When you're very good at gambling (counting cards at the blackjack table), and the casino notices your betting pattern, they quietly decline to accept any more of your wagers and tell you that you are no longer welcome.

When you consistently lose enough at the casino, they will drip feed a bit of it back to you through food and drink to keep you spending.

Very basic business.
How do goons get that backwards?

If you win noney at games where there is a house edge they will also comp stuff to make you stick around longer since they know luck isn't real and if you keep playing long enough they will get it back.

I never beat dark cloud two because the final boss rush is so long and boring (especially the stupidly long ramps between bosses) by the time i get to the guy who actually offers any challenge i've stopped paying attention, die, and then don't want to restart and play all the boring stuff again

is that the guy who found that mario 64 ran like poo poo because they left debugging on and turning it off doubles framerate on original hardware

Nah he's the guy who found out they set the compiler up to optimize for cpu performance, but the n64 cpu is a beast and the real thing they needed to optimize for was the super slow ram, so the optimizations were actually slowing down the framerate by making the code longer.

He has gotten multiple youtube videos out of his quest for finding a faster sine function.

Surprisingly his levels actually look good too.

When I was in elementary school I got these young reader Star Wars books that claimed to pick up right after Episode 6, so I was convinced they were the true episodes 7+ and might get movies one day.

They were about the emperor’s son, a three eyed man named Triocculus, who found the glove of Darth Vader which according to some prophecy made him the new emperor. Later it turns out that he’s a fake!

The prophecy was also a fake, the 'prophets of the dark side' were a pure propaganda outfit made by palpatine, and they brute forced their prophecies with a network of spies and assassins.

Trioculus also had no clue how the force or the dark side worked, and when getting Darth Vader's glove didn't let him shoot lighting, he had highly invasive surgery to run hidden wires through his arms so he could zap people and prove he was the heir to the emperor. He seems to have assumed that was how palpatine did it, too.

After zapping a couple people he got massive internal burns and he spent a whole book trying to find a cure.

Dwarf fortress adventure mode players noticed that after some playtime the character's eyes were marked as haging a coating of tears.

As it turns out, the adventure mode mechanics put the player in control of qn existing in world character, ans didn't turn off the emotion processor.

Possessed by an external force, unable to control themselves, watching as they mercilessly fought and killed... they could only cry.

Oh and when disguise mechanics were added, people who were close to your adventure mode character would no longer recognize them as the same person.
