I can't figure out how to actually use the Chirurgeon specialization thingy. Do I need to go to the pawn guild to use it?

Ugh, I beat a Gryphon but had to use a wakestone (my only one) because it one-shot me near the end. It only had like half of its final health bar left! The fight took forever, and I think it didn't help that my level 8 Mage pawn was underleveled (I immediately replaced him with a level 15 one afterwards, since that's my level).

Is that Gryphon attack a scripted part of the quest where you deliver a letter to Melve via oxcart?

Speaking of that quest, it had an hourglass in the quest log. I did it immediately because I wasn't sure if that meant it was timed (though from the description it doesn't seem like it should be timed, so the hourglass may have just been referring to the need to take the cart at a specific time).

Was it in the town itself with a bunch of NPCs helping because lol poo poo I am not fighting a Gryphon!

So i'm level 26 with 491 magick power but I dropped on Meteoron on a Gryphon and it lost all its health except uhhh

about that much.

I used Maelstrom on a cyclops and it didn't do hardly that much damage. I think there's a lot of luck in whether or not your spells make good contact.

Ive been playing as sorcerer and it's fun. I bring a mage, warrior and fighter with me and it seems to work decently. Using High Levin a lot but also High Hagol which if you cast it enough it tends to slow monsters to a crawl. High Seism did a lot of damage vs a golem.

I just got the two maister skills maelstrom and meteoron and they are both sick as gently caress.

I feel like the progression in this game is kinda funny. I did pretty much everything in Vermund, and am like level 30 in Battahl now and have all my skills unlocked. I just want to be a sorcerer, there's no vocations that I'm interested besides it. I know the game is like "you should try them all!" but I don't want to. I'm just gonna keep casting hagol, levin, seism and meteoron at people I guess.

I guess everyone turns their pawn into a warrior when they can, so there's a lack of fighters on higher levels. And fighters probably complement a group better as well, so they're easier to fit.

What weapon skills do you guys find best for pawn fighters. I haven't really had any issue with my guy using like, the blink strike, compass aoe, skyward attack and uh some other thing I think it was shield bash. But I'm curious if anyone has any opinions.

Also, is the MainPawn thing a joke that I'm missing or...?

Empyrean is a holy damage spell for mages. I think that's what it's called. It summons a big ball of light that covers an area with damage. It was bad against goblins but presumably it's good vs unholy stuff.

There's probably some built in exceptions to screw with you if you get too confident though, like the Jadeite Orb quest has if you do the super obvious thing of making a forgery and then try to hand it over to Ed, lol.

Which of the Sorceror Meister spells is better (or which situations are each better in)? Currently I'm using Maelstrom, which seems pretty good, but I'm curious to try the other.

Some quest stuff in this game is pretty unintuitive. I had looked up how to get the other Sorceror Meister spell + the Mage Meister spell, and you have to go to this house in the middle of nowhere that there's a good chance you already visited (and there's also a good chance the quest doesn't even trigger, since you need both grandparents physically out of the house). And you need to have made copies of the grimoires to get both spells. How would you know that normally?

Unrelated question - what's up with some Drake talking with me telepathically or something when I was in Havre Village. Surprised me and never figured out why it happened. There was a Drake nearby when I first arrived, so maybe it was him?

If you want you can still get Magic Archer earlier, though, right? I'm thinking of trying to do it while I'm (vaguely) in the area, since it's the vocation I was most interested in from the beginning.

As far as i can tell, the descriptions are accurate. Meteoron is good in wide open spaces, it needs to be able to launch the meteors into the air and have them shoot down. I had it fail in a cavern once that had a pretty high roof. It does a shitload of damage if all the meteors hit, but I can't tell if they track. It does NOT do a shitload to drakes, which presumably makes sense if they are resistant to fire.

I have used maelstrom a lot less, but I think it must do physical type damage based on the color of the skill. I used it on a cyclops once and wasn't impressed, but maybe I should try it a bit more on drakes.

To me, it made sense that the snobby rear end in a top hat would accept forgeries, but the kid who wanted to learn magic would need the real deal.
