God damn it, you've got to be kind.
Different locales have different laws regarding "lodging in a vehicle", and then businesses have their own options for restricting it on their property even if it's legal.

I live in a basement apartment of a 19th century tavern converted into a home converted into apartments. Interior and exterior walls are 18" rough stone. 2 non-functional fireplaces wired for electric (hello, artificial logs). Tile floors. ~600 sq ft. No storage space to speak of.

That lovely lawn will be ruined when they start digging it up to look for bodies.

Both goon-approved vacuums in the $70 range. I have had the first one for eight years, no complaints. I actually didn't own a shop vac most of that time so this particular unit also vac'd up sawdust and screws and dead cockroaches from rental properties for most of that time as well. I don't know what $70 translates to in your local currency or if they even sell these in Elbonia, but I recommend them.

I owned the Bissell and found it to be lackluster. Emptying the container was messy. The foam filter is basically a dense sponge and it very quickly gets choked with dust and is a mess to try and clean out. On top of that the cheap plastic mechanism to release the top of the container to get to the filter broke rendering the vacuum useless.

Replaced with a Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional (http://a.co/jkv1A7e) that while a bit tippy and the extension hose is too short is otherwise quite good. The suction is absurd in comparison to the Bissell and my old Bravo. Cleaning is less messy than with the Bissell and the filters don't require constant vigilance. It's also nice to be able to switch off the roller for when I'm using the accessories, or with this model I can lift the top part of the machine right off of the base and carry it around.

The heat pump in my apartment is failing to keep up in fantastic ways. I pressed them about it before I moved back in and they said they got it fixed. I went back over Friday and they had someone come out again. For the last several days it's been burning :10bux: a day sitting on Aux Heat and still failing to get back up to the 72 it's been set at. I e-mailed the other landlady last night and she actually got back to me promptly at 10pm on a Saturday night saying she would try to get an emergency guy over in the morning. We'll see. It's 56 on the inside now. Still set at 72.

If it's like my experience it's a combination of low refrigerant/refrigerant leak and a balky compressor due to a bad capacitor. It took six visits from the shady HVAC technician to get it completely resolved. The AUX heat will keep running and accomplish very little since it's only there to provide a boost if your unit calls for heat when there's a significant differential between outside air and what you're set for.

Either something is still occasionally dripping from above, or seeping from below. The sink, the drain, dishwasher or dishwasher lines. Lots of options. From experience I can tell you that long-term water exposure in that area can lead to havoc.

How to get an apartment in Boston for the late summer:

- Haha you waited until now? Everyone else rented in March, you are fuuuucked.

Back in the early nineties my brother was going to go to grad school in Boston. I was unemployed at the time and offered to drive out there with him from here in Los Angeles, help him find an apartment and move in and then fly back to L.A.

We drove out in... September? From Los Angeles to Boston, no cruise control. Broke down in Green River, Utah but got back on the road after a day. We arrived in Boston and began apartment hunting only to find that there was nothing. Everything had been rented months earlier. The closest we came to finding him a place was a grotty studio that was stuffed with the prior occupant's property because they had disappeared.

Wound up driving with him back to Los Angeles. What a goddamn trip that was. At least I got to see The Pru. :shepicide:

Gross, cotton Jersey is rough. Modal is where it’s at.

I've had only Modal jersey style sheets for about 15 years now and I'll never go back. They're soft, and comfortable year round. They do pill a lot as they wear, but that's the only issue I've had.

How do you all feel about older buildings without fire sprinklers? I just realized that an apartment building I just submitted a rental application for does not have fire sprinklers, since it was built in the 70's. I've previously only lived in newish apartment buildings which have had fire sprinklers so I'm not sure if this should be a deal breaker particularly since I have infant aged daughter. It is an 18 story condo building and is otherwise pretty nice and well managed by the condo board.
