I don't remember the twists being explained early in a voiceover during the original run. I mean, the spaceship reveal upon William Hurt's death was shocking.

Yeah, does anyone want a bunch of "doth my lady" dialogue going on? I was an English Lit major, but as I've aged, my patience for Elizabethan language and Shakespearean soliloquies has waned very thin...

Regarding Spiderman...

I thought the end was poignant - the character has had two important people in his life die, he's obviously hurting, and yet he makes the heroic choice to cut himself off from everyone else he knows and loves. If they wanted to add Venom to the Spiderman story at this point it wouldn't be a bad choice - developing a bond with another being that literally gives you thicker skin seems natural...

Might give it a go. Visually, it looks fantastic. But the Wednesday deadpan schtick might get old if she's front-and-center all the time. I expect they realize that, though.

There's a huge fertile field for psychological horror and despair in that movie. I hope it just doesn't content itself going slasher.

With Cameron's love of deep sea exploration, I bet this film is close to his heart. Sure, narrative notes may seem familiar, but the world needs a pro-ecology and pro-native-rights message now and again. (And if not now, then when?)

I couldn't find a TV show preview thread, so I was sitting on the trailer it for a couple of days. But then the Secret Invasion trailer was posted and there was no issue, so I thought I'd post this one. That the show was inspired by a movie was an extra point in its favor, I thought. But you can always report me I guess, if you're in a complaining mood.

Also my laptop's lovely speakers probably aren't the best way to listen to a cue.

My boss when he does final mix of TV spots and trailers has them do the full in-theater mix and separately a "laptop mix" to make sure it sounds good on both. It's pretty smart in my opinion, considering that's the overwhelming way trailers are consumed these days.

Yeah - like when music producers/engineers don't only do mixes on quality reference monitors, but stock car speakers as well.

Does the quality of special effects really bother you that much goons? poo poo, were blue screen halos and janky animatronics pulling you out of the movies 30 years ago? How about stop-motion?

People have a weird fixation on CGI specifically and seem to hold it to much higher standards than other types of special effects. The quality of a film should not live and die by that one criterion...
