Each age group considered separately has high effectiveness (>85%), but it declines to 67.% when they're combined. Basically there's a lot of unvaccinated young people that don't get that sick while there's a lot of vaccinated old people that do get sick. Combining the two age groups obscures the fact that the vaccinated do significantly better than the unvaccinated within the corresponding age group. Feels a bit like P-hacking, except there's a robust physical explanation to justify "binning" the data by age.

I'm actually super loving worried about the next 6-8 weeks. like. it is now virtually guaranteed that millions of children are going to be infected with covid-19 — probably north of 75% of the entire school-age population, especially the elementary demographic — and the sheer overload of the health system this will cause is going to kill tens of thousands of children in the space of a month or two. The setup: ATC gets a radio call from a pilot who, as it turns out, has lost pressure in his cockpit. He doesn't have a mask on. He's at an altitude where it didn't just flat out kill him, but his brain is pudding. All the alarms are going off in his cockpit and he doesn't realize it. He's saying things like "cannot control speed, cannot control altitude, cannot control heading, but otherwise A-okay" and doesn't realize that's an issue. ATC desperately tries to talk him down to an altitude where his brain will stop dying.

Ending: He makes it. You're not going to listen to some dude die. They get him to drop a couple thousand feet and he instantly recovers.

People with ridiculously low O2 sats can be terrifying. If that dude in the 20s drove himself to the hospital... my god.

I cancelled all of August gigs, and I've realized now that this will probably mark the end of my career. Either I quit now or I continue to play and eventually catch a COVID that leaves me disabled in some way. I should have foreseen this months ago.

They work from 8am-6pm, then they go home. Currently it starts with a single infected person.

each person is randomly generated by age, weight, gender, ethnicity, as dictated by 2020 census data.

A person requires 15 minutes of in game time contact to get infected. Severity of covid is random based on the CDC statistics of how infections progress. It is also modified by age/weight/ethnicity/gender/etc...

People who are "hospitalized" do not count towards the pool or infect others (since they'd be hospitalized)

I'd like to add a thing where you can hover over a person to see their stats, give them a mask, or vaccinate them. A slider for how fast times moves. Maybe add walls? I dunno. I just want people to see how fast it spreads

white - nothing
green - mild symptoms
dark green - sick
Yellow - very sick/Hospitalized
Red - ICU
Purple - Dead
