The one drawback is that since Blu Ray cases are smaller and slimmer it doesn't look as much like a Beta tape (i.e. it's less bulky), but it's still a cool effect. More importantly the BR transfer is so loving gorgeous. Maybe it's partly because it's a movie I've seen a bunch but the step up in quality from the already-great DVD is astounding.

This post isn't about movie posters, but is instead a post about VHS box art with a trip back to 1980s mom-and-pop video stores. Back then, there were no Blockbusters or Hollywood Videos with strict guidelines as to what can be rented in store. In comes the mom-and-pop stores that would have practically anything and everything on VHS (including that room in the back of the store with a curtain covering the entrance that you weren't allowed to go into because you were too young), and that included skeevy horror movies from small studios or direct-to-video production companies that would have otherwise been forgotten or unseen. Most of these movies were really, really terrible, but my goodness, did they have amazing and sometimes hilarious box artwork that would make you want to rent it (only to be disappointed afterward). I remember seeing a large chunk of these video boxes at various rental stores back in the day, and they are now not so much terrifying as they are hilarious or . I present to you: Retrospace's VHS horror movie box art 1 ( to play it safe because of gore and/or boobs on certain boxes) Retrospace's VHS horror movie box art 2 ( ditto) "Grrrr, I'm a 50 foot jester that's slightly upset by this even larger woman's head resting in front of my house, arrrrgh!" So, is this like Hollow Man, but with a stereotypical unhip professor who instead of Kevin Bacon? Orson Welles drunk as poo poo and "Occult Terror..." James Brolin is watching you poop.

Used to love browsing the horror section when I was younger with me mum and me aunt who thought she was a vampire. I love, LOVE Nightbreed and can't wait to see the directors cut but we never rented it because of this ridiculous cover. That dude shows up for all of 3 seconds in the background of one shot.

I'm convinced I have to see Blood Beach now. No matter if it's excellent or terrible, that's probably one of the greatest movie posters I've ever seen.

Wow, it's easier to count the covers that don't have a scantily clad woman being murdered than the ones that do.
