Sounds like it won't this time around If you can deal damage to her before the first nuke goes off it might drop her under 1000 but that might be too hard at this point in the game.

Not being in up in an enemy's grill is pretty much the endgame playstyle. Weapon damage scales up really, really high as you level stuff up. Gunning with laser guns works really well. There's a drat good one that is a guaranteed drop from a boss you can kill around level 30 if you plan well. All other ranged weapons have finicky range penalties, but lasers are full strength except at the farthest they can shoot. dis astranagant fucked around with this message at 07:09 on May 4, 2013 |

When the OP says that the Catgod race is "deeply broken", does it mean in a bad way, or a good way?
|
# ? May 4, 2013 07:26 |

If you're asking whether the brokenness is in your favour, then yes I believe so. Their speed is loving 500 and they have a bunch of evasion skills. http://elona.wikia.com/wiki/Catgod

A good way, they have 500 speed(the best stat), excellent potential in their attributes, decent HP and are only missing a couple of inventory slots. Personally I think mutants are the best race, with a decent riding skill you can ride round on a T-Rex and tear stuff up.

Catgod is deeply broken in the most boring way possible. You're insanely fast but everything in the game is designed around people who end up maybe half your speed at very high levels while mounted. You will starve to death doing the simplest things because the shops and quests don't refill fast enough and you don't have the anatomy to live off corpses early on. You will get 5+ actions per enemy turn and have the other stats to back that up.Corridor posted:What does it mean when equipment is 'singing'? It has a few random modifiers on it. Basically a weak randart. Same with enchanted, howling and servant's.

Corridor posted:What does it mean when equipment is 'singing'? Those are affixes that usually show up on "Great" quality gear, and it means it has some kind of magical bonus. Despite its name, it's not always to performance, though! The affixes are often pretty random for the bonuses they give.

You are a nerd posted:Is there a world map for elona+ floating around anywhere? Seems like they changed at least the trees enough that I can't find my current treasure map location anywhere on the vanilla map, which is all google turns up. I believe trees are slightly randomized when it isn't the forest, but rocks and flower fields aren't. I'm not totally sure on it but I'd swear I've had them change from game to game. Might just be Elona to Elona+ loving me up, though. Twenty Drunk Apes posted:When the OP says that the Catgod race is "deeply broken", does it mean in a bad way, or a good way? In a bad way. 500 Speed sounds hilarious and it definitely is, but it carries a bunch of annoying problems. It's boring because nothing can touch you, you won't be able to train Armor or Evasion, your pets won't get to do much of anything, and whenever you're stuck somewhere (Party Time, Etherwind, waiting for a shop to restock) you'll be waiting 5 times as long as other characters and have to stock up food to match. Corridor posted:What does it mean when equipment is 'singing'? IIRC it's one of several adjectives that generally mean the modifiers on that weapon are better than usual. Another question: in Elona+ I sometimes get a weird little graphical effect like a shining silver wire flashing across my head. It happens when I kill public performers, or dog enemies. My little girl gets them too. It's fully consistent with the killing of these enemies, and (I think) nothing else. What the hell is it? Also at my magic shield that gives massive buffs to Two-handed skill.

Is there any way to get platinum that's faster than quests? Doing a bunch of delivery/escort quests at a time is pretty easy, but when there are a dozen skills I want to learn and they all cost 15+3 platinum per skill, it gets expensive really fast. I'm also not sure what I should really do once I get the skills I want. Trying out things like museums, farms, and houses sounds fun, but I have no idea where to start.

Worship the new god, apparently it gives you a platpooping goose. The farming and hunting quests are way easier in Elona+ than they were in vanilla Elona, in that they are actually doable now. I racked up like 10 plat coins just going through all the farming quests in Yowyn.

# ? May 4, 2013 09:09 |

Quests are the fastest way I've found, not sure if it's only for high level quests but I've been getting 3 per Part Time! Those quests get me 20-60k GP from all the gold getting thrown, the occasional small medal and some NPC cards when someone drinks the wrong potion or when someone goes on a rampage. Harvests seem good too as it boosts a lot of stats, slower gain on plat or gold though. Basically just keep doing certain quests types til you get bored and switch it up to a different one.

If you invest heavily in magic shops (like 100+ in all the ones you frequent) you can sometimes skip the plat and buy scrolls of growth to bless up and use, but I don't know of any ways to generate them reliably.

That's pretty much it - keep a set of magic stores and goods stores (I like to use Palmia/Vernis/Yowyn/House in a rough box-shape) and invest them like crazy. When you hit high levels of fame, you'll end up with quests that give multiple platinum. Some people recommend tanking fame to make the game easier, but grinding up fame is so slow that I wouldn't recommend it.

Since exponential decay of training potential has been removed in 1.19, I guess there's no longer any downside to just putting your Performance potential to 400% with a pile of platinum. That'll probably make it go real fast. edit: Okay, so your potential will reduce slightly faster than if you were training the skill with a lower potential, meaning less efficiency (you lose 10% of the potential every time the skill ranks up). The real problem was still that putting potential up past 120% or so was incredibly meager gains for the platinum you paid. Bleu fucked around with this message at 09:56 on May 4, 2013 |
