You know, of all the anime tropes people go with, why do they always go back to schoolgirls and tentacles? Where's my mecha-based projects, weeaboos? The closest I can think of (KS-wise) have been the Mekton Zeta KS and Warmachine (which is more towards fantasy). You'd think that with Pacific Rim fresh in everyone's minds (if it's not in yours, get to it ) someone would jump on the bandwagon. No joke, if I had an ounce of talent, I'd try something out, but as things stand now I'm just another Ideas Man™. I just want my giant, bigass robots.

There were several studies: one study found that you'll eat less if your food is served on a smaller plate and another used secretly refilling soup plates and people ate almost tow full portions of soup before they realized something was wrong. Our brains are loving dumb and a plate of food is a plate of food to them. No matter how big those plates are or how much food you actually piled up on them. Another dumb thing is that the feeling of being full has a pretty huge time delay. Our brains needs 20 minutes or so to realize this poo poo. Either way, there's no way to specify which one you want on the kickstarter rewards tiers.

I asked what the range was and they answered: quote:The BBiQ™ uses bluetooth to communicate with an Android or iOS device, so operating range is usually between 30 and 50 feet. If the app is logged into the BBiQ website you can also monitor your food and hear alarms from any web browser. As long as your phone or tablet is in range, you don't have to be. I'd love a smart thermometer, and there certainly is a market for it given how guys on meat smoking forums seem to buy every thermometer that hits the market, but range is a serious issue. Range is such a sticking point that these new "long range" thermometers have been selling like hot cakes for the past year: http://www.amazon.com/Maverick-Wire...bbq+thermometer That's because the remote thermometers that claim 100-foot ranges have barely worked. The price on this BBiQ actually isn't bad by comparison, but you're spot on about bluetooth being an annoyance.

I get the impression that their approval process is a quick once over to make sure the project doesn't break any of the rules* and won't get them sued and their secondary process for vetting projects is 1) wait for a social media shitstorm and then 2) decide whether the project in question makes KS Inc look bad. If they get enough complaints of a certain nature they'll cancel a project otherwise they just don't care. One the other hand they might knock back approval for 50 tentacle rape games every week and the two we saw just happened to sneak through, they're notoriously uncommunicative in regards to how they run the site so we can only guess at stuff like this. * The "No 'fund my life' projects" rule seems to be pretty flexible as long as something is produced/created at the end of the project.
